Please wait...
It can finally be put to rest. Mr Alhambra/Monterey Park, and all the others can now move on to something else. City Council did just what was expected and put it to bed for good. Finally no more BS, just back to Pomona being Pomona. Whew.

Tired of hearing about it even though it is a bad mistake by the council. I feel for the cops who are getting hit hard. The public would have benefited greatly with LASD. Good luck to the PPD officers. I hope everything works out for you guys and hopefully you get everything back soon that you are giving up. Good luck and be safe.

The stress of a possible change and job losses has been lifted for now.

Folks, please remember come election time that it wasn't just the police that took the hit and conceded millions to SAVE the city. The fine men and women of city hall, library, streets, parks and all other CITY employees contributed as well. EXCEPT THE FIREMEN!! Fire union, be ready to pay your share! Better yet, show us what type of heroes you really are and just come out with big savings for the city WITHOUT being asked and nothing that will cost the city to reap those savings.

Maybe there would be less hostility towards Pomona PD if they would eliminate the motorcycle officers that waste time & money sitting stationary (lying-in-wait) to nail traffic offenders at their favorite spots (like Holt/Indian Hill)...They should spend more time enforcing the law w/ unimpeded checkpoints in order to remove illegal/irresponsible drivers off the road, regardless of the wishes/demands of the idiotic city council.

I agree regarding the checkpoints, drun and unlicensed drivers are on the road all times of the day and night, everyday of the week. As for the motorcycle officers sitting stationary, funny, I have seen them with people pulled to the side of the road many times.

We did it in Compton which was the last big city we took over back in 2000 the Maywood deal was something entirely different. Sheriff's Dept would serve Pomona proud. You would be pleasantly pleased at the service you would get. Air support, homicide detectives, narcotics teams, gang teams state of the art community oriented policing. Response to calls within 30 minutes. We are a great bargain! By your last statement i'm sure you are an employee of LASD. I'm curious if your one of the ones that wants PPD acquired just so you can live closer to home? As for Compton, you guys did such a great job the mayor is already pushing to restart their own police department b/c of the failed policing of LASD. As seen with the firemen in pomona (LACF) has not taken any pension or pay reductions, while the pomona police have cut both saving the city millions. Imagine the LASD not taking cuts in this critical economic time, Pomona would be bankrupt. The miss management of funds in the city has been an issue for years, the real issue sits in city hall, not one cancellor has profession business or budgetting experience!

I don't see the same outcome with Pomona Officers. Phase II would settle this issue. Someone does not have the facts regarding the L.A. County Police Officers. There were only a few that weren't POST certified and no, 50% were not fired from another agency; more like 2%. LASD was balancing their budget off the backs of these officers. Get more experience for less money if you put them in a CA position. L.A. County Police officers had more training than most Deputies. Besides, Deputies have an arrogant, ignorant, uneducated mentality that is obnoxious. Further, they get brainwashed early on to kiss ass and don't ask questions which is why they repeatedly get sued. The only thing good about them is the size of their organization and the election of their Sheriff as opposed to being hired by the Board of Stupidvisors (who incidently should be ousted for their corruption...don't understand why they don't have term limits....anyone in power to long becomes very, very, corruptable and tainted but that is another story). Besides that, LASD will take on new contracts then supply a large # of Deputies in the beginning just to make for appearances then its business as usually-slow response, short staffing in certain areas.and apathy on the part of Deputies. You get what you pay for and if you are paying for County employees you are getting the short end of the stick.
