So, he was fired, as announced by the Chief. This forced the city to put out a statement that he will be leaving but was still on during a transition period. Then that period lasts one day and he is escorted out of the police station sans weapon and badge. and now he is retiring and everything is A okay? what a bunch of nuts you got there in Pomona

What a completely bungled affair by the city manager and council. Unfortunately, this is so typical of Pomona's city government. It's a really sad indication of the dysfunction that looks to continue for a long time to come.

Loks like the B.S. is continuing. Obviously Romero has dirt on someone and is holding it over their heads or vice versa. Who cares about Pomona! The corruption within the city council, upper city management and Romero continues. I'm sure Romero has some political aspirations and if elected to a council or mayoral seat in Pomona he will continue to destroy the city because of his self serving attitude. Romero, who really cares, just leave and let the city move on without you causing further harm to the police department

Oh, Bob, you idiot. If B.S. is continuing, it is flowing out of your own little brain. Why on earth would Romero EVEN want to roll in the mud with the rest of those idiots by having 'political aspirations' to become a measly council member, or even mayor of that rathole. If you can't see that this mayor needs to be recalled, and Carrizosa taken to the border and left to hand out driver's licenses, then you are totally blind...

What ever the inspector says, ditto, ditto, ditto (or wait, how do I say 'ditto' in Spanish? Maybe Carrizosa knows...)

The pressure was too much and too quick for Lowry and the Council to handle. They knew it was going to get real hot with recalls, phone calls, emails, and letters. They think this will take all the pressure off of them by just saying Big Joe retired. Hopefully, everyone will keep the pressure on this illiterate council and manager.

The City's "official" statement is officially a load of crap. Sorry Linda, we're not buying the mistake between "firing" and "retirement."

Apparently what is needed is a police chief who will instruct his officers to not pull over city councilmembers. Who cares if it's common knowledge that a certain council member likes to drink and drive? Isn't that one of the perks of being on the council, getting pulled over being a little tipsy and being sent home instead of to jail? This council member got lucky this time, and was just barely on the legal side of being drunk. But apparently it made him think, "maybe next time I'll be on the other side"? Romero wouldn't give him the favor of sweeping it under the rug. So sorry, Mr. Romero, but you just had to go. I mean, just think, maybe next time it might be one of the other council members, or even the mayor? I'm sure Mr. R made sure they all knew that it might be them next time! And this mean old Police Chief is making them abide by the law, just like everybody else! How dare him!

Sorry Joe, gotta go. Hey, but you know what? Maybe you could run for councilman? Maybe run against Cristina Carrizosa, or Rothman. That would be poetic justice. Because there are a lot of us who would like to see you kick them out on their butts. Yep, maybe we voted them in without seeing what they really are. They fooled us once, but not twice. We know now who REALLY has to go. From the mayor down. Joe Romero proudly served this city for over 30 years. Not just serving, but risking his life for Pomona. Which one of these clowns on the council can say the same?

Gotta love Atchey's statement, "... Romero and Lowry "weren't meshing properly," ... LOL!! That's like saying, "Sure I pulled the trigger but the REAL problem was the bullet and victim didn't mesh properly".

"Clowns on the council"? That is so poetic and makes the point perfectly!

Rothman is just hitting back from his incarseration due to a DUI.

he has no grounds to fire my chief.

"Retirement" is a load of crap Romero would have been chief till the day he died.
he is very dedicated to protecting civil order here in pomona.

Frankly im disguested in myself for actually voting for Rothman.

And about the Checkpoints...maybe they wouldnt be so much of a problem if people in pomona would start driving with a licence and insurence.

they are more mad about the fact that they are getting caught and having their cars towed. Cristina Carrizosa does not care about pomona shes infact supporting those who choose to drive without a licence and insurence.

Ms.Carrizosa the PomonaPD is not targeting the Latino population with these checkpoints but the fact that pomona is more than 75% Latino doesn't help the situation either.
you ma'am are a moron.

Spanky, what it means is, if you do it Lowrys way, and only Lowrys way, you are meshing. If you use your 30 years of experience in Police work to make decisions you are not meshing. If you use her totally non-existent experience in policing, you are meshing.

Sometimes meshing is a bad thing.
