what a joke

Does anyone else wonder why he would want Ohio inmates to do the asbestos removal at the old veterans hospital? You would think him being a union man himself in the players union, that he would want the job done by union asbestos workers. It would give people in the community who are members of local 207 a job, instead they are letting inmates do it so they will have training, why do they need training? There in prison, that's their own fault don't reward them by training them in a job that people that arent in prison could be doing? I along with several other union people I know won't be voting for him again.

It's called rehabilitation. That's what the prisons are supposed to do to prepare the inmate to be a part of society when they are released or would you rather they just go on welfare and we continue to support them when they are released. Good for Mike, I'll vote for him again.

if u want to rehabilitation do it inside the prison. If you give them union jobs then the union members are without work and therefore have to go on unemployment or worse. Keep the good people working and just execute the criminals. You obviously don't know what its like to do Manuel labor.

Execute the criminals? Really? I'll bet you have no idea that most criminals are non-violent and are in prison repaying their debt to society. Most of them worked jobs before they went to prison and made a mistake that landed them behind the prison walls. Most of them have family that loves them and are waiting for them to come home. People that think like you are the reason it is so hard for any person who been convicted of a crime of any kind to be released and become a productive member of society. I believe that what Mr. Bartrum is doing is in the best interest of Meigs County... short-term and long-term. I understand how you feel that it would take away from the union workers, but as children we learned that life is not always fair. You have the ability to find another job whereas the prisoners have to struggle to find work. People label them (people such as yourself) and will not hire them so they are left to try and support themselves and their families by any means necessary. This usually leads to them committing another crime... landing them back behind prison walls. They deserve a chance to come back into society and be productive.

Unfair? Also as children we learn right from wrong, just don't do the crime. Any crime is a consus decision. Depending in the crime I agree come back to society but if a person is in prison then usually it isn't because of a little mistake first offense. If a person goes to prison they loses all rights or should. Think about the people their crime affected.

Actually most of my family are union members and yes I do have a family member in prison. The point I'm trying to make is... Not all criminals are bad people and the deserve a chance once released from prison.

I do manual labor everyday. Some of these inmates are good people who just made a mistake but if they want to learn a trade to support themselves when they are released, I say good for them. They will pay their dues when they are released and become part of local 207. The local has a hard time keeping abatement workers and are always having classes. You can get work if you want to work. They do not get paid the same as a union worker. Some work for $1 to $2 an hour and they're not on drugs while they're working like a lot of the union workers around here.

so let them wait until they are released. They have hot meals and a bed that my tax money pays for unlike the union workers that are put out of work by things like this. Christmas is around the conner how would u like to look in your childrens eyes and say there is no christmas this year because mike gave union jobs to prisioners

So if I understand u right ABC I should have my kids commit a crime, goto prison learn a Skill trade while in there get out and go straight to work. Kinda like a military college. That way get their education for free since I won't be able to pay for their college since i'll be out of work due to all the criminals having the jobs.

Yes, Local 207 will let them in. I've seen it happen. The training program in the prisons is actually better than the training at the hall and the local knows it.
