I had a car stolen. Its been at least five years. Nothing was ever done. I know who did it and it's been crushed already. The sheriff's department gave me the run around for a few weeks. Now I'm empty handed other than the title to my 97 intrepid. They even accused me of selling it for drugs and called me a junkie. It will never change. Most are too lazy and some are too stupid to do their job right if they do it at all.

Get your CCW Permit and arm yourself. Shoot first ask questions later... you can be tried by 12 or carried by 6.

You can shoot someone in your home under the castle doctrine. You can also carry openly in Ohio but I wouldn't advise that. I would recommend CCW but you do not need it to protect yourself in your home in Ohio.

What burns me is, MPD won't print one word in The Antique Pomeroy Daily Sentinal on all the crimes that is being committed just in Middleport. MP Officer told me that it would tip the thieves off in what MPD knows and what is happening. If I couldn't come up with any better excuse then that, then I would keep my mouth shut! I wonder if a serial killer was running loose in the area if they would keep they mouths shut too. So Lame in deed. A good friend of mine told me all you have to do is. Sit on the steps across from Goodwill at night. Just watch theives loading their cars, trucks and trailers with donated items for Goodwill. Happens constantly and a never ending battle for Goodwill. Other places in Middleport the same way dealing with nightly on going thieves!

If they would catch a burglar in the act, they would let them off if they just snitched. That's the sad part, a drug bust is more important than our houses be robbed.

Shoot 1st ask questios later is not a smart move. In Ohio I think you have the duty to try and retreat before using deadly force. I think the loie are doing a ok job. It seems about every day that the paper runs it has arrests in it for theft.

It seems about every day that the paper runs it has arrests in it for theft. Not in your own home. Castle doctrine states you have no duty to retreat. If you feel your life is in danger or you run the risk of great bodily harm deadly force is justified to neutralize and stop the threat. Someone in my house without my permission is a threat to me. I doubt they are there to give me a hug. Now outside your home then yes you have to retreat if possible. Even with a CCW, Ohio does not have stand t

Stand your ground laws. Wish they did. Castle doctrine needs to be extended to your vehicle like it is in some states. I've experienced more hostility from idiots in my car than in my home.

My home and car was broken into a year ago, while my family was sleeping. We awoke to the intruders, reported it, filled out reports, fully cooperated with the police. Our family was deeply affected by this incident, we tried contacting the police with information, questions, anything to give us some closure..we were continuously told different things and brushed aside by the mpd. All the while never actually being told anything resulted. Six months after, while we were home again.. we found a young man trying to climb in the window of our home. We called the police filled out reports.. the same week we saw the man working at a grocery store, called the police while in the store to tell them, they came to the store, went in saw who he was and told me to fill out another report. Specifically telling me to put in the report "the police officer knows the mans name and criminal history" who was attempting to get into our home. And again nothing ever happened. This man walks past our home every day, we know his name, where he worked told the police and hes not even been questioned as to why he was at our home. The police dont understand what a family goes through when they find a man in their home, how much damage it can do to a person, how much fear it can put in them.
