There are more details that are associated with the matter which are not made to the public. I would recommend that facts be stated so that the integrity of Mr. Laudermilt is not in jeperdy.

Well I kinda think that it isn't Mr. Laudermilt's fault that he was given his police job back after all these years. If I was to walk in the police department maybe they would hire me. I am not a certified cop but oh well don't seem to matter in Proffitt-Land anyways. Also, question of the day, the police cars say Chief of Police, last time I checked only city police departments had a chief the villages have Marshals??? Hmm...like I said it's not Pomeroy it's Proffitt-Land! Pomeroy take back your Village!!!

In ORC it states that as long as an officer holds his commission it does not matter of how long an officer has been employed elsewhere, the stated commission is still effective until it has been revoked. There has not been a commission revoked from the Pomeroy PD in a substantial amount of time. The matter of the cars is simply due to popualation. A city and village are not classified under the same amount of people. This is all municiple and here recently became effective. There is no time limit on this transition yet Im sure it will be dealt with now that it is on a website. Also on the question of the day the last comment says for Pomeroy to take back your village, Pomeroy is still a village no matter who is in the offices or who, by the opinion of society, runs the offices.

I was unaware that council could legally suspend an officer. The Mayor or the Chief of Police can do so by the State of Ohio. I do believe an illegal act was committed and Im also sure that the one said officer, Del Laudermilt will have his suspension lifted promptly. Due to the fact that this is now on the website, I am almost sure of it. I feel there is a need for a lot of investigation that should not be conducted by any of the surrounding counties. It should be noted that ALL departments of Meigs County including but not limited to: Middleport, Racine, Rutland, Pomeroy, Syracuse and the Sherrif, be monitered by an agency of higher stature until the investigation is completed. This is a personal opinion and I feel that all the slanderous comments made are ones that should be heard in the form of a complaint. This way when the investigation is completed all the ludacris will end on the third party he said she said. There will be tangible evidrnce instead of all the accusations due to third party rumors.

This could potentialy be somewhat true but highly doubtful. The reason I say this is because of the fact you can not pull a juvenile record. Especially being that is has been such an extended period of time. Juvenile records are sealed at eighteen unless the individual is placed on a probationary period that exceeds the age of eighteen. At this point the record can only be kept until the said individual reaches the age of twenty-one. Being that this fact has been stated and I can question the validity of the other arguements. Also in reguards to this matter if an offense is misdamenor it will not effect an officer or any other state employee and can be exponged. However if there happens to be a felony offense committed an officer may not remain on active duty nor keep a commisssion.

<quoted text> The Councilwoman and the 2 other councilman thats getting the lawsuit filed against them?????? As Councilman and Mayor stated to the really not so smart Councilwoman only the CHIEF can suspened an Officer. NOT EVEN THE MAYOR,ONLY IN THE ABSENSE OF THE CHIEF!!!!!! She was in the glory of the room at the time!! She didnt understand that the idiots she was standing for would get her pissed off enough to do such an act that she would make an illigal motion. Shes getting sued and I hope SHE looses it ALL!!!!!!!!!! Her biggest problem is she dosent know when to keep her bitchey mouth shut. She also disclosed information to the wrong persons about a conversation that took place in a clinic during a check-up, thank GOD for recording devices. Has she ever heard of HIPPA-LAWS!!!! Good job to everyone that pissed her off!!!!!!!!!! Lets now contact her employment to see if that was a violation.... Hows that MOTHER NURSE!!!!!!!!!!
1. Appointment - Each village is required to have a marshal, designated “chief of police”,
appointed by the mayor with council approval, to serve until removal from office. The
marshal must pass a physical examination, which must be... reported to the Ohio police
and fire pension fund prior to appointment. The village council may provide for
deputies to be appointed by the mayor with council approval, also subject to a physical
examination. An auxiliary police unit may be established, appointed and regulated by
the mayor. The marshal and deputies must serve a six month probationary period
before their appointments become final.(Ohio Revised Code Sections 737.15, 737.16,
737.161, and 737.17)
*** This is all in reference to CHIEF Mark Proffitt***
This will also answer some question of the Marshall-Chief comments

‎2. Removal and supervision - The marshal and deputies can be removed only for cause.
When the mayor finds misconduct by the marshal, he must file written charges with the
village council and serve the marshal, to be heard before village council. The marshal
may be removed or suspended, for up to sixty days, by two-thirds vote of village
council. The marshal may appeal to the common pleas court of the county. The
marshal may suspend deputies and employees under the marshal’s control for cause, by
notice to the mayor and service upon the accused employee. The mayor shall provide a
hearing and may suspend, demote, or remove the accused employee. Appeals may be
taken to the village council and to the common pleas court.(Ohio Revised Code
Sections 737.162 and 737.171)
***This may also answer some questions and comments on Mr. Proffitt pretaining to employement***

Police Officers
8.(Q) May village police officers be removed from their positions without cause?
(A) No, they can only be removed upon a showing of cause and after the opportunity for a
hearing.
***Mr . Laudermilt was removed from his position but not relieved. There was no showing of cause for Mr. Laudermilt, only alligations.
No hearing was set on his behalf and he was repremanded for nothing more than a rumor***

This is where you can not confuse the law. The removal or suspension of the marshal-chief has nothing to do with the procedure in suspending an officer. I do feel that the mentioned lawsuit will be liberating for Mr. Laudermilt simply because this was an injustice caused by of other village employees. Unfortunately not everyone who has been treated unjustly will have their day. I assume it will only be a step in the appropriate direction but there will be progress made. I can state this because evidently there is a paper trail and it all leads back to the mentioned council members in the previous thread composed by one, Goose. Reguardless the said officer will indeed have the suspension lifted and be out doing the work of a peace officer, within corporation limits of course.

He was not suspended he was removed from the schedule because of that fact that he may not be a police officer. He was only to be a call in officer but being buddies with the chief he got a full time job. The paper to OPOTA says he was part time for 15 years but no pay records.Would you want the person that was investagating you to be the person who will get your job if the case was true? They both lied to the Grand Jury and should be charged. They set a police officer up and it fall apart on them.
