Marshville manager turns in her resignation

Dec 26, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Charlotte Observer

This time it's Marshville in eastern Union County. Manager Amanda Reid tendered her resignation this month, effective March 31. Two new people joined the five-member Town Council in early December and it was clear that a majority of the board wanted to go in a new direction, Mayor Frank Deese said Thursday.

Yhe mayor continues to lie to protect this womans reputation, possibly so she wont sue the town. The truth is there has been $0.00 in grants for Marshville since she has been here. Why does he keep saying she secured grants for Marshville. She has not, not one dollar.

Good enough to post twice. Make sure everyone reads it.
Has everyone been reading the newspapers? Seems to me that ole Frankie Deese believes that Amanda Reid HAS procured, secured, or whatever he wants to call it, some MILLIONS of dollars in grants for the town. Tell me where are these dellussions coming from? The town HAS NOT RECIEVED any grants while Reid has been in Marshville, NOTHING, ZERO. Why does Frank continue to lie about this? Perhaps she has told him these lies? Marshville has one financial "option" going on, ITS A LOAN, that we will need to pay back 100% WITH interest. Are these two people crazy? It is PUBLIC INFORMATION. Does he and she think people are that stupid? Please get it right.

He been lieing for two many years here in town. People just not smart enuff to reelize it. When marshville wakes up and starts atending the meetings, then they will learn. Amada Reid was hired as a last chouce and they got what they deserve. She lacked experienxe and proofed it here in her performance. good riddenz.

Awoke this morning to find my Home News had been deliverd and once again see that edminston has stuck his personal opinion in the business of town politics. This will cause me to finally cancel my donation to his cause. He will learn one day to keep his opinions to himself when it comes to politics. I feel the paper should report the news without adding a biased and kiss a$$ personal opinion. So here is your Dear John letter, Cancel my sub and my monthly ads. Sure you will get a call from the finance officer in my business. When you can keep your nose off someones butt and report the news we will think about advertizing in your slop again.

Why not print this in the Home News?
People, you do not have to buy this 4-8 page of advertisement, with a short article that could hold no water as it relates to the truth. Jon is out of touch with this town, out of touch with the world. He has religously criticized the performance of the town council, mayor, past managers, employees, and anyone of our fine citizens that have positively contributed to the growth of our town. I can not recall one council member or mayor that Jon has no written negative personal opinion about, wrote for years about the mayor being an ex-convict, he attacked the former town manager during his short stay in Marshville, that somehow has succeeded in his new position in another community with no issues, wrote about a councilwoman sleeping during meetings and another that hasnt a clue what is going on during the meetings, continuosly criticized our beloved retired police chief for years, scorned the local gas station owner for charging a premium for gas, he is in business to make money afterall, and has written negative comments about everything from the auction barn to Tracis restaurant. And now he takes his turn with the Traywick man in kissing the A$$ of a town manager that has finally been cornered and has decided to resign at her own free will. I would like to see where he gets the information that she has done a terrific job for the past 17 months. The only persons in town that would give her a favorable reccomendation would be himself and Traywick, both sniffing her skirt for a scent, and a mayor that has her at his beck and call 24/7. There could be a few others, but hard to find anyone that has anything good to say about her.
Let me enlighten you fine citizens to her success since coming to Marshville.
1. Higher taxes.
2. Higher water and sewer bills.
3. Forced trash service to all, whether or not you want or need it, you pay anyway.
4. Kept silent and lied to the public about the annexation and Boys Prison project.
5. Paid for a intern to work for another company with our tax dollars, not even located in Marshville.
6. Has run businesses out of town instead of recruiting business to Marshville.
7. Has raised all other fees for town citizens from charging the senior citizens a rate that is the highest in the country for an hour exercise class, park rental fees that far exceed any other community that charge any fee at all, and my God the park restrooms dont even have toilet paper most of the time. What are the fees covering?
8. Let us not forget, she is, or was, in the process to get the „sleeping“ council to approve her to apply for a $600,000.00 LOAN to install water meters that her new high paid „Utilities Director“ can read without getting out of the vehicle. Her thought is to pay more for a utility director and get rid of the meter reader position.
New council wont permit such waste of our tax dollars. Got a feeling they will down size her staff and realign where the labor is needed, where the citizens can see their tax dollars at work. They will be proactive, not reactive. The first order of business is to straighten out the business so they can run this town more efficient and effective.
Maybe Jon and Traywick need to pack packs and follow her to a new destination.

It's amazing; I move to Louisiana yet the Marshville gossip still flows through the phone and computer. That town will never change...for the better anyway.

In order to make valuable comment, you first need to know what you are talking about.
Gossip definition
Rumor or talk of a personal, sensational, or intimate nature.
Which means the above threads are not gossip, but truth.
Gossip is not healthy, buy the truth is very helpful to a solution of the problem. We are attempting to bring a solution to a very big problem.Join in luvnut and fubar if you have some truth to be told, otherwise your short one or two liners wont be a contribution to a solution.

I am a town manager that just felt compelled to comment and hope the folks reading pass this on to their elected officials.
Wondering why this lady has not been fired by this time, IF all these post are factual. Seems to me the council needs to take more action sooner, rather than await her March 31 departure. What other city or town manager would fire 15% of the employees in her first year on the job? This is unheard of. Employees have more at stake than the manager. Managers jobs are fluid, transient, we come and go, yet employees are with towns for many years, some even stay 20 or more years. What other manager would get away with taxing the people to death, yes the council approved it, but she put the fear of God in them that the town was going broke. Ask the finance manager and she will tell you the financial status of your town. Its her job to give the council financial status, not the managers. If in fact she has done some immoral things, dealing with Anderson Homes, and can proven that she lied from one council to the next then she should be terminated with just cause immediately. Seems you have a divided council, but if the facts are brought out in public the council should do the right thing and dismiss her. I have personally spoken to many people "in the know" and all "rumor" seems to fact and if I were in her shoes, which I would never be, I believe I couldnt get my things packed fast enough. This can and will put a black mark on her name as a manager. Most managers can claim elections for their dismissmal, but with all the facts I have heard she has either the thickest skin, has an ego bigger than Steve Smith, doent think much of her reputation, or actually believes she has done nothing improper. She has to know in our line of work that our reputation is our greatest asset. From what I understand talking about town is that there are still numerous issues that are pending that have not been made public as of yet. Talking amongst other administrators, she has about a 10% chance to recover from the position she is in. In our opinion, pack up and cut your losses, is for the best of the town and in her best interest. If you dont believe what I post here then please google her name in your browser and start reading the headlines that follow her name. All recruiters will see this, as well as any city or town that she applies to. Her resume may look impressive, but social media is everywhere and someone will find out her past. Good luck Amanda and the town of Marshville.

Its a b!tch when other managers comment on one of their own. She needs to open the eyes and ears and take the proper action. Run Amanda, run, save your carreer while you have a chance. Dont bring more deficit to your professional life. Just pack up and go, take the 3 months pay they offered you, change your name, move away, and start a new life.

She should be drilled about everything at the next town meeting. Both the Mayor and Amanda should have to come clean and the old town council members should also lay it all out there. Maybe with an even table of information the public can judge and see what is really going to happen to Marshville. I have to wonder how much of the past history Carl was also a party to. Way too many secrets for a small town. One- sided newspaper reporting - no planning board leadership - no town board leadership - no chamber of commerce support for business - We would be better off getting more communication from the street corners then what they all give us.

Lets address some of these issues Pookie. "Drilled", is difficult to do to the principals you speak of, they have continuosly lied and you expect truthful answers now? I have to believe a meeting with Anderson Healthcare will answer all your questions though. Also a great source would be the person that was in a recent meeting talking about the drant for the project on Hasty. He may enlighten us on alot of secrets as well. Dont think Carl was in on anything to do with Anderson, he is Police Chief and has enough on his plate to be involved with her secret meetings. I believe he did what was legal and used open government as a principle of his position. Edminston is "ONE WAY", but has always been the same, just need to be on his good side. Planning board leadership has always been an issue. When you have closed minded people that have personal agendas it is difficult to have confidence in them to make sound reccommendations to the council. Town council leadership has been lacking, look what we have had and is no wonder. I think Jim and Ginny will lead us, and Norma will support what is right. Norma just needed some help and now it has arrived and all will change soon. Chamber is no more than a lunch group that gets together each week. They are more of a PTA than Chamber of Commerce. When you want communication in and about the happenings of Marshville just talk to citizens and store owners, they give more information than towns elected or employees. Surely the manager will give you nothing and she controls all discussion that employees can have as well.

Well, here we are 5 days before kickoff of what will be the coldest and wetest Superbowl in history. Should be a great game, Birds vs Ponies, the best quarterback of the season vs the best defense of the season. Sort of coincides with our town at this time, best council in years vs best defensive manager ever. Will it be SuperMeeting on monday, Feb 3rd? I feel she will be put in her place and be defeated by meetings end, Finally, sufficient facts and truth will come out, convincing Frank to cut her loose and she will find out just how Marshville operates. A resignation is always better than a firing or suspension, something she need be considering before monday. She been needing a lesson government, and should consider the past 17 months as her fist bachellors degree. If she doesnt change her attitude and personality she will be getting educated everywhere she goes, if at all she can find a place that wants her baggage at all. She needs to take this as lesson learned and leave before she is told to leave. Leaving on your own is always a better ride out of town. Swallow the pride and save your future while still a chance.

Might be the best council, but isn't is always the way?--America's Dimocrat enemies do their damage, and afterwards the adults have to come in and shut the bard door after the livestock has been let loose. Dimocrats win elections because there's a sucker born every minute.

Amanda has been in Marshville for about 17 months and has worked her tail off each and every day. Prove is in the pudding, look at how slim her butt is. Her first concern has always been her servants, I mean employees. She has kept them in top physical shape with all the bowing down she demands. They should be grateful she keeps their health in mind, as they wouldnt do it for themselves. She has the city always on her mind....how can she raise more money from them. She has almost run out of new ideas to raise funds, so she will be attending a revenue raising class, at the towns expense of course. She reminded me last night over a six pack of Red Bulls that she will be working until march 31 or until the truth comes out about the boys prison, then will only take 3 more months salary from the town. How nice can she be? You will miss her when she leaves, but she told me that she will train the new manager to pick up where she left off so the town doesnt go into shock, and she will check in once a month so no one forgets her. She may miss you as much as you will miss her.
