If this is such a great facility, then why are the people involved having to be treated as "detained individals". Their families can't control them. Next step after this is Mental Hospital committment. The second application of the Monday evening meeting was to provide water and sewer to the annexed property but stated it was for "Anderson Health Services, Inc.". They haven't even purchased the property or developed a business yet. Mayor Deese said they were involved in this. He also said HE WAS NOT INVOLVED in other annexations during his term as Mayor BUT he signed the paperwork on at least 6 others in the town. It is time to stop the Town Board from being lead blind into this mess. They certainly don't ask questions and are robots with their opinions. Town Manager is not even staying here BUT this will look good on her resume. She should have to maintain a home here. Mayor is busy promoting his book on being an "ex-detained" person. Matthew has given up on the town - the 3 stooges are following the flock & Norma stands alone. What a mess we have NOW!!!
I agree with you 100%!!! The 3 stooges don't have a clue about what they voted "yes" for. If the mayor told them to vote yes on having a titty bar in Marshvile they'd vote yes. If Matthew has given up, then he needs to just quit and let someone serve that gives a sh*t and doesn't just blindly follow Frank and Amanda.

Except White Liberals, and blacks. THEY'RE not "racist", are they? Nahhh, they're little angels.
Oh yes, sure they are BUT, so are you. See what I mean. Duh.

The problem with Liberals is, is that they are constantly finding solutions to problems-- The problems brought about by Liberalism.

Ok, so the next thing that might stop this is the Zoning board. I'm not sure who is on the board or when they meet next but we need to get to them and put the heat on. This will be our best chance. The Anderson Company will have to apply to get the zoning changed from farming and residential to institutional before they can build anything.

Who is on the zoning board?

I agree! I'd also like to know the answer to this question. We all do need to put the heat on them. If anyone has this info, then please share.

According to the Marshville NC website:
They meet 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 pm and are scheduled for SEPT. 12 for the next meeting----MEMBERS:
Virginia Morgan - Susan Drake - Rusty Johnson - Lorraine Long - Nancy Ogburn - Jerry Powell - Mark Traywick - Jim Rowell - Brian Weber ---WRITE TO THEM or CALL and voice your opinion - They can recommend NOT to do this but the TOWN will still have a lot of closed ears unless we speak REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!!!

Marshville IS an ideal place for it if you think about it; consider the local bloodlines. (Tooooooooo many names to list). Most of the juvies would be local's so it would be convenient for the families to visit.

Well, I know 2 on there that will vote against changing the zoning. I don't know about the rest of them. There is 9 names on there. so we have to have 5 against rezoning to stop it. I will talk to the ones I know on there but everbody is going to have to have a talk to the ones they know. Two of them ladies on there are sort of hard to talk to because of being upity. We can't wait around. We have to stop this thing.

You fine Marshvillians can relax, the town has told the Anderson Group it can not continue negotiating with them, as the citizens will never accept any growth in this Sh!thole. They have rescinded the agreements that were made behind closed doors. Case closed!!! I understand Habitat is now interested to put about 24 beautiful patio homes on that land. Each home to have 4 bedrooms, which means a lot of problems. Should have accepted a locked gate and now you might get what some would consider a prison with no gate. Think land value was going down before, wait until this fine develop goes in. The only jobs it will bring is more police officers, so get your BLET certificate and stop by the pawn shop for a new handgun, you may need it.

"All they are thinking about is $. You can NOT put the almighty $ in front of what is right..." Are you freaking kidding me?! Governments and individuals do it all the time. That's why the dollar is called almighty it trumps everything else, common sense morals you name it. I see it all the time in the city where I live, except here it's bicycle riders in the city getting special traffic lanes and exemptions from traffic laws (which affect drivers, and drivers can now get sued whenever a bicycle runs into them) and the "green culture" which get all the advantages and government money, even when it doesn't make common sense.

We need a Liberal Detention Center. That might help stop the scourge.

I'm sure that when Wingate found out the UC Jail was coming to their town they were also very upset. However I have NEVER heard of any problems around the community that the jail is in. This facility was not going to be anything like a "Jail". We had an opportunity for growth in our town and to provide a place to make a difference in a young boys life. You shot down something you really knew nothing about. I do agree that the town should have been upfront in the beginning. I feel like that is what everyone is so upset about. At this rate Marshville will continue to always be a step behind.
