Thank you Mike for the update, that's wonderful to hear. I am just a fan of his music, since the early days of Randy Traywicks ( She's My Woman ) release, and even have some of Ricky's recordings. They were blessed with the gift of voice & music. After awhile they begin to feel like someone you know & become concerned when he & his family are going through a time such as this and we never hear any positive news...So this is great to hear. Thank you for replying, Kat

Glad to hear that. Hope he has a full recovery. Randy was always a good ol' boy, crazy as hell but likable as could be.We used to do a lot of hard drinking and dope smoking back when we were both much younger.

I spoke with Rose Sunday. She says Randy is improving daily. He progressed from a walker to a cane to a walking stick and is now pretty steady on his feet. He can walk on his own but the doctor still wants him to use the stick for balance until his strength is better. He is on several heart meds and gets regular checkups. His speech is still slurred but is getting better. He can sing a little but gets frustrated. She said the record company is going to release some songs he recorded 2 years ago in an album. It should be out soon.

That's wonderful to hear & I appreciate the updates. I look forward to more good news as he heals. I've been a DJ/KJ at local clubs for quite awhile & always fit my fav. Randy songs in. Every wedding I've ever played has Forever & Ever Amen as the most requested song. Many people can sing very well, but few are blessed to be gifted with a voice, able to tell a story & make us feel it. Vern's " If Your Gonna Do Me Wrong" Randy's "Promises" & "Old Pair of Shoes" and Martina's " Independence Day" just a few that come to mind as there are ET Conley's "Holding Her " J. Conley's " Rose Colored Glasses" Conway's songs like " Goodbye Time" and all those George songs. I will soon turn the big 50, lol so maybe it's the nostalgia kicking in but I think that when my generation is gone, true country music, 8 track tapes, wood stove's, well water & outhouses will only be a page in a history book.. And as
Forest would say " That's all I have to say about that " Again ,thank you Mike for the nice updates as they are very much appreciated.

Hello friend--I just saw your post about good ole country Music and I had to throw in my 2 cents, if you don't mind. I've been a collector and musician for 30+ years. I've played with some of the greats as a fill-in on steel guitar (Tammy, Loretta, Charley, and many others). My longest professional gig was with the late-great Ray Price. Ray was a real musician who knew music unlike a lot of Country "sangers". I really enjoyed working for him. I never worked for Randy Travis but I know several folks who have played with him over the years. For 5 years back in the 50's I worked the Louisiana Hayride which was as big as the Opry. I was there the night Elvis made his first appearance in 1954. He was just a young boy then and could only play 4 or 5 chords on his git but he caught everybody's attention. I also met Buddy Holley and many others there. To answer the question everybody asks me about that "other" Jennings...no kin but I played with him once.
