Community traffic becoming more like ...

It really disgusts me the way people just go hide in their homes or look the other way anymore Annie. I just reported a guy on a off road bike doing wheelies on my street, no one else just me. I looked at some people sitting on their azzes and shook my head at them, they of course went into their house. But then I'm the bad guy I guess for getting involved, which then makes them look bad or well cowards is a better term for them. Such as the saying goes "you can't handle the truth" because you people are spineless".

I sent a letter to the Sheriff's Office over two weeks ago formerly asking for traffic work. So far all I see are the usual's flying up and down my street and no sign of a Sheriff's car or anything of the like. I guess since we turned into a less than middle class community (blame the banks, code enforcement Mr. Joe "TAX OUR ASSES" Tedder) that we are on the will look into it list?

You pretty close to it, however I fear in due time you will have plenty of cops around your neighborhood. But not to go after traffic offenders' by that time it will be even worse than people thinking they can drive as recklessly as they want.

There is a lot of this going on around the area of Main Street and Colonial Avenue. Nothing has been done about the speeding so go figure that anything would be done around here about this kind of stupidity!?

It's like what a few here have stated. The communities are to blame I believe in general. But it does appear that certain officials of our county prioritize the problems to their interests, which in turn compounds the problem further. To them speeding is just a nuisance, not a serious threat like robberies and such. It's a stepping stone for things to get worse. When people who wish to do harm, brake the law see that a communities' adhesiveness is deteriorating or there is none at all, they will migrate to that area. As Scott stated once the bad guy knows no one cares about what is going on it will escalate into more problems. Street racing, habitual speeders, thru traffic of large tracks and people making a quick short cut sends a message to people who have no interests in respecting community standards. Once the safety problem collapses, the communities security is next.

when people are in danger...cops do not respond...but start damaging property (speeding cars)....and the cops will be all over the place

Commit a crime to stop a crime, how intelligent. The thing is to call, document and be assertive. Not hiding behind something and be as bad as the speeders. Rather to gather a large crown of people who care and work together to report and be proactive, not throw rocks and hide.

but it does work....the speeders get some broken glass...the cops start patrolling the area more, which slows down the speeding.....win win!!.......
i have read post after post where they said they have BEEN trying thru the "proper channels" and no response or anything done about the speeders.....
amazing when you ramp it up a notch......they (cops) start showing up....
intelligent or not....it will get the job done.....the ends justify the means

I think maybe a sniper shot from about a mile away would make a difference. After their stereo and car explodes by a 50 round from a Barrett maybe they would get the message. After that maybe their head?

Mr. Media "Judd" Super Cop just made a big operation to catch predators OUTSIDE Polk County. Why can't other agencies in THEIR counties worry about that!?

I want Mr. Judd to send some traffic cops to my community and slow down these high speed predators who think my street in meadow lane subdivision is their personal roadway.

OH, wait. Like some said here. It's not big crime or big news for Mr. Judd.

Wow, like this I can relate! But yeah I do, do something about it. But then phone calls and letters to the cops last maybe what, a few weeks and then it's back to what it was right? I whine yeppers, but right to the cops, local station and the commissioners.
And yet -sigh- why do you have to keep reminding them?
I care, I get what I can get done. And maybe more than most. But when you feel like a lone voice in furry of cowardly silence, pacifism and conformists sometimes you can't help but whine a little somewhere.
Just say'n!

As of today the wonderful world of Polk County traffic people said is all intended words you're screwed. That the survey done for your community street does not justify the action for any calming devices or projects. In another words COST, COST! Just stop being Polk county and just say it! I am posting this after sitting on my porch and just watched for the last two hours people driving like hell. Why the hell does common sense, ethical approach and moral needs get screwed by money all the time? Close to 2,400 cars used my area streets. And they said no one was going over 5 over the limit at best. Bravo Sierra people! I used a radar gun which was checked against the average acceptance of 1 mph error or difference. During that week I clocked about 130 cars doing 40 or more. That's not considered a threat to the community on any given time? Their data showed NOT one vehicle going over 35 mph. Can you say Tweaked numbers and guidelines!?

problem: speeders.....

solution: bag of rocks and shrubbery to hide behind

hit two or three cars.....and the cops WILL start hanging out.....just gotta have balls to do it....may not be the "right' thing to do....but it WORKS!!

no one is interested in doing it the right way anymore....extreme measures get it done.

p.s. do not touch rocks without gloves on....

people slow down when they KNOW they are being clocked....perhaps they should not put those speed detectors that are obvious out there...maybe a cop with a hand held...or try my rock/bushes method....may not be the "right" way to handle it...but it does work!!!

I think there's some merit to this stuff about DIY. We had to call the sheriff about two drunk's on ATVs. They get here and saw a video of them taken with a cell phone. The first this this big ball headed goon says to my friend is "They aren't going very fast!" WTF!" The last time I checked driving an ATV (in this case 2) on public roads was unlawful, along with being drunk AND a beer in one hand while driving with the other!? This cop acted like he was needed elsewhere fighting other bigger crimes. Maybe we should have just hit them with a few rocks and knocked them off the things? WTH sheriff people, W.. T.. H?
