Well, I am surprised to learn that Larry lost. Three different ballot lines and still couldn't close it out. Very interesting that a fellow who fashions himself a political consultant and a whiz kid should ignore one of the first rules of politics. Get 'em out to vote. There is no excuse for his losing that district by such a measly margin. Can he really be surprised that Hendricks and Co. got the punch drunk and the poor to the polls? Did Tanoury learn nothing from Ed Hanna? The punchdrunk and the poor are there for the taking. Make sure they vote for you, not the other guy. Of course, there's trouble brewing for Hendricks. If I'm Picente, I have a golden opportunity here for both payback and gamesmanship. Pressure Hendricks to resign. And when he does, appoint Tanoury to the seat. Slam-dunk move. If I were Larry, I'd forget about thinking about a lawsuit. Let it die. You don't want people thinking you're an overly litigious malcontent. Be bigger than that. If you don't get appointed, walk away. From the area, from politics. Get your law degree. Wait until you're fully prepared and ready. Politics will wait for you: you can bet that nothing in this area will have changed. And you will be that much stronger for it. That's my two cents, anyway.

How would appointing Larry be a slam dunk move? Further, doesnt the fact that he cant seem to graduate from MV put a damper on any law degree dreams? Well, maybe "slam dunk" is too glib a phrase. Picente could, after all, very well come to regret doing so. But, if you wanted to stick it to Hendricks, there'd be few things more irritating to him than his opponent being appointed to his seat. Furthermore, the current margin is 18-11 Republican. With Tanoury in there, it's 17-12. Guess what? The Republicans are still safe, and they've got NO reason to work with the Dems. His bark will always be there, of course. But without Hennessy in the Minority Leader's seat, Tanoury's bark lost his power backing. Nobody else in that caucus, not even Chad Davis, is going to be like Hennessy. The Dems and their Minority Leader, of course, will work with Larry--but it won't be the same, I'd wager. But his bite might be dulled down. Tanoury would never be able to resist were Picente to offer him the seat, IMO. Picente appointing Tanoury allows Picente to appear magnanimous in victory. Considering the Hendricks scandal and the public murmurings about it, where here in CNY it's always assumed the fix is in, it would likely appear, to the public, as if Tanoury were indebted to Picente for his seat. It might have the effect of taking the outsider sheen off of Tanoury. Although, certainly, a guy who's friendly with John Dote can't be considered a serious outsider anyway. So it's an interesting, if somewhat risky move for both of them. Certainly more interesting than if Picente appointed yet another brain-dead rubber stamp from the friends-and-family plan. All speculation, of course. But as to him going to law school, I'm not his career counselor, and I probably just should have kept my comments limited to the political side. I don't know and don't care where he did or didn't graduate. All I know is that he'd be a better politician in every sense if he built himself a life and a career and went from there rather than doing it this particular way. Why try to be a big fish in a small pond?

Picente would never appoint Tanoury~~EVER, to anything!
I suspect Larry will move back to Florida with his father. Afterall, he'll have no job (all he had was the Legislator's job at $8,000-something a year anyway), he dropped out of MVCC, & he lives with his mother. What does he have?
Oh, that's right: He said in the paper he might run for Mayor of Utica.
Uh-huh.

If the allegations in the letter are true and Hendricks and solid motivation for doing what he did then I applaud him. He took a stand when others just looked the other way.

The most truthful part of that statement is, "He will run..."
Run for what or to where, I don't know.

Harry, you seem infatuated with Larry. You sure you don't have a crush on him? I mean, what other legislator that just LOST and election gets this much attention? He must have done something right and it sounds like he just might be the next Mayor. By the way, I don't know much but I do know that Larry wouldn't take an appointment from Picente even if they paid him $100,000 per year. NEVER. Unlike Picente, Larry believes in EARNING his job. So poke fun all you want, he never had a handout in his life.

Fell of my chair laughing when Little Larry said he might run a primary against Dave. This little kid is going down the road of his hero Leon and try and run for every job and losing everytime. What are you going to do after you get laughed at trying to raise money for a primary, run for congress?

If Larry runs for Mayor and (god forbid) wins I am moving out of Utica. That would be the last straw for me. We would really be hitting the bottom.

Settle down everyone. Larry's not running for Mayor. He lost his re-election for County Leg. What the heck makes you think he wants to run for Mayor. Don't believe everything you read in the paper.

so now you got hendrix, wow what a great improvment. Keep him ,he is just right for this area with welch. Throwback area. Ha Ha You people of this area are sick.. Drive around and look at this area . Shame on you. Compare to Syracuse. The slums of Syracuse are better than the best of this area. Keep putting the bums in office. Good work you halfwit voters. Put throwback back in.

Larry Tanoury is not admitting any bribe attempt but what is he admitting. He is admitting he asked Fiorini to abstain from the Insight House 1 lease deal because of Fiorini's "friendship" with Donna Vitigliano. Fiorini is denying a sexual relationship and Tanoury is denying he accused Fiorini of having a sexual relationship with Donna Vitigliano. Why would Fiorini have to be asked not to vote on the dollar lease deal? Wouldnt an ethical person think wow I am such good "friends" with Vitigliano it might not be ethical for me to vote. Instead as reported by Tanoury he had to ask Fiorini to abstain. Would it be a giant leap to think that a person who didnt think of abstaining when voting to give his "friend" a one dollar lease wouldnt think of bribing someone not to reveal how unethical he was.
