How long does it take to become local?

Dec 23, 2012 Full story: Honolulu 232

It's always fun when national entertainment media tells stories about Hawaii. This October, Comedy Central broadcast an episode of South Park entitled "Going Native." In it, one of the young characters learns that, although his family now lives in Colorado, he was born in Hawaii.

One can be accepted in Hawaii immediately if one is kind, respectful and considerate, no matter what color you are.
On the other hand, in Colorado, if you have brown skin you will always have to put up with the subtle racism that is "Rich, White America."
Jus' sayin'.

Get yourself 10 coats of spray on tanner and talk like an illiterate, yea?

Then when your social worker decides that you qualify for a food stamps card, because your minimum wage job won't keep you from going homeless.

Den you be local Bruddah!

Both sentences are wrong but i'll only address the second one here.

People of the same sex and people of different people have been holding hands in public for over forty years in the Denver area.

That's why I called it "subtle." It goes unrecognized by even astute thinkers like you.

**********Subtle racism is worldwide.*********
And the Hawaiian Islanders are much more racist then their mainland counterparts.

And it doesn't matter how kind or resp. or consid. you are locals have zero problem solving skills. They react first and think later.
Are there kind locals yes. Do they also have a short fuse and are they capable of lashing out...yes. More than any culture i have ever met.

People who call Hawaii racist are simply feeling the shoe on the other foot--and are blind to the global reality.
I would never assert that Hawaii is not racist, and would simply point out that Haoles who come here with preconceived notions notice how racism feels because it is their first time having to face the universal shhtiness of it all.
Racism is like a turd--there is no way to pick it up by the clean end.

A 36 year old second generation Samoan-Hawaiian lady told me she warned her daughter not to marry someone from Western Samoa. They were from American Samoa which is good, Western Samoa not good.

Haoles? is "NOT" racist? Now it's gonna take 20 coats of spray on tanner with a mix of shoeshine for applicants to qualify for welfare if they hire you to be the social worker.

Man! they should hire you as a spokesmen and they just sure to make tanning booth sales go through the roof.

Yes, I'm racist. So are you. I admit, while you deny.
But guess who puts themselves "here" and objects to "racism" as if he/she were not?
You.
Hawaii is racist, no more, no less. You experience it here as "Brownies" experience it "there."
The difference is hypocrisy--yours.

He or she isn't a racist so it seems.
Probably somebody trying to sell more cosmetics to fulfill affirmative action requirements.
But the poster has a point, try to collect welfare with a white face. Pale face, go back to Manhattan and buy a different island.

Hawaii has already been sold by Obama and the white liberal new world order who finances his million dollar vacations.
There, you got it for nothing, now sit down, shut up and go study who's really running the world.
