Mr. Love and HEMIC insurance providers of Workmans Comp likes to go on TV with his stupid commercial claiming what a wonderful company they are. They are for the companies they represent but now we know if you are injured on the job they will fight you all the way to trial. I also was injured on the job and was denied benefits from the beginning. My employer refused to accept my injury(fear of higher premiums) even though I had witnesses (police reports)and followed the proper procedure. They even denied paying the ambulance and emergency bill. The insurance company (First Insurance) along with the company put me through 18 months of severe pain both mantally and physically. My family suffered along with me. Finally I had to go get a lawyer who filed the necessary papers and retrieved my rights. The reason HEMIC and other insurance companies boasts that they are returning premiums to these companies is because they will deny you benefits and fight you all the way if you are hurt and most will give up without any benefits. I hope no one gets injured on the job but if you do seek a Attorney at the begginning because thats the only way you will recieve help. Because of their failure to help me at the begginning I am crippled for life. Everytime I see one of their commercials I think about the injured workers under their coverage and the suffering they will be going through. Evil and greed is their motto.

Only one of countless insurance claim horror stories. Sure there are fraudulent claims but there is always the feeling that you are only an appreciated client until you file a claim.

Because of greed and deception, HEMIC and it's no class ceo robert dove will shell out triple digits instead of the $48,000 they should have paid in the first place. What idiots!!!

I'd like to hear more about his case. Has HEMIC been sued by other injured workers?

Unbelievable, Hemic is such a rip-off with those nice commercials. They pass laws that make it manatory to use these companies but god forbid you ever actually have a claim. Hemis is going to fail anyway (I hope)

Talk about greed and deception; all my life I've paid insurance companies and never received a dime! Then, to learn that money I and others have contributed is being used to 'deny' and subvert obviously rightful claims, that's too wrong. I'd like to pat the Kauai Judge on the back and say 'Hey Brah! U rock!!!'

Lesson: Don't get your insurance from HEMIC.

They spend too much time messing with frogs.

Ms. Ordonez had the good fortune to be represented by an outstanding attorney. If it were not for Mr. Chur's skills and tenacity, HEMIC would have gotten away with an outright deliberate fraud. And kudos to Judge Valenciano for having the courage to impose punitive damages against an insurance company . . . in doing so, he risks the wrath of his boss, Chief Justice Ronald Moon, who is bought and paid for by the insurance industry. We can expect this verdict to be reversed if Moon is still on the high court bench when the case makes its way there.

gee, if HEMIC had paid the legitimate 48K claim, they would have avoided the 325K judgement. sounds a little like pulling their usual tricks to be penny wise, and ending up pound foolish. sorry no sympathy here, insurance companies make unprecedented levels of profit year after year, and are notorius for their arrogance, including bonus schemes for MD's who can find ways to DQ a claim.

These insurance companies are terrible. They are the first in line to receive your monthly premiums but when you file claims, hard to find! State Legislation should be put ont he insurance companies! They need governing. Crooks can't govern themselves.

HEMIC got the best advertisement with this news report....and they didn't even need a frog to let people know that they make it worst, CEO Dove intends to counter the judgement!!! How sick it this company....thank goodness I don't have HEMIC!

Like many of the others responding to this article, I immediately thought of those perfectly lovely commercials HEMIC sponsors on TV. My, my! What a crock! That's not only hypocritical, it's injurious to an already injured victim, thus magnifying and perpetuating the original injury. How shameful!

Whatever we say or feel about unethical insurers has no effect on them because of the HUGE payoffs for them, in spite of an occasional slap from the regulators.

Now if only HEMIC's adjusters and attorneys stop playing games to save money .....and stop hurting people. And the State hearing officers admit that it is all gamesmanship and side with injured workers (when HEMIC is involved)...which is hurting the worker. Send your stories to attorney Chur and sue em again, Dan!

Maybe this unethical insurance CEO should team up with Mr. Urinestone of go!. They would make one hazzardous team when it comes to treating others. What a way to run a business. So many insurance companies do that. They will fight most every claim, no matter what the truth is.

Insurance companies got their hands out to take your money, and when it's time for them to come through when you need them most--they give you the finger.
