Grandfather doesn't appreciate Playboy story in newspaper

There are 30 comments on the Point Pleasant Register story from Aug 4, 2012, titled Grandfather doesn't appreciate Playboy story in newspaper. In it, Point Pleasant Register reports that:

In a day and age where we as a nation are concerned about the image that we convey regarding our young women; the Point Pleasant Register places on the front page of its newspaper a story concerning a graduate of Point Pleasant High School becoming a Playboy "Playmate of the Month." From the tone of the story, this is something to be desired as it ... (more)

I agree with Grandfather 100%! What a disgrace to our community. I am so glad that I have sons, but I certainly hope that they never bring home a girl whose life long goal and main aspiration in life is to be in an issue of Playboy magazine!

To Editor: I don't consider Playboy a magazine that would ever enter my home. I have young children. Where exactly do you draw the line? Are you going to publish articles about local "celebrities" if they make it into Penthouse, Hustler, or release a porn video? I am ashamed that I reside in a town whose big front page news is about a local posing for pornography.

Finally someone in town more famous then a fictional moth man and again everyone bashes. If she is happy it's her life not everyone else hope she goes on and does well after this. I don't read playboy but again it's her who am I to judge. Let her be and be happy for once

Not everyone is bashing her. I do not care one way or the other, what her life goals are. I do not believe it should have been on the front page of the paper! That was totally absurd! So now we have a Mothman and a Playboy Bunny, our claim to fame! LMAO!

If anyone knew anything or read anything they would known they "Playboy" is not her "life goals". Who cares if she's in it though, really? She's a pretty, WELL educated girl. I don't know her but I have read enough to know the girl has her head screwed on right. She looks better than 95% of the women in this town and surrounding towns, so it seems as though it's just a whole lot of jealousy. The girl has not one but TWO Bachelors Degrees and her life goal is to open a nursing home.

Right now she is young and pretty and turnin' heads. The beautiful thing about magazines like playboy is if you don't want to look at / read them you don't have to buy them, therefore never having to see her. At least she will be able to say she did something daring in her life, AND got an education for rewarding career. While the rest of you have most daring moments being the time you got knocked up in high school and dropped out, or hated on a young woman for posing in a magazine you don't have to look at!

As far as grandpa is concerned, well he's just an old timer. The older timers get pretty well set in their ways. He may not be happy about this, but I'm sure he is proud of her for everything else she has accomplished, which is more then can be said about most around here. At least she gets paid to just have her picture taken naked, rather then getting paid to lay down naked and pop out a bunch of welfare kids!

Idc how educated she is. I feel the same way about her as I do anyone who takes their clothes off in front of everyone; I think it's disgusting and low. Read the Bible people!!!! Why praise someone who is going against God and the Bible?

Okay, since you want to talk about reading the Bible.

According to the Bible and "traditional values."

- Marriages must be in the same faith.
- Not only should a wife be subordinate ( Ephisians 5:22) but she must prove her virginity lest she be stoned ( Deuteronomy 22:20-21)
- Marriages should be arranged
- If a woman's husband does without having had a son, she must marry his brother and have intercourse with him until they have a son ( Mark 12:28-27)
- Many of the "men of God" we're not only married but had at least one concubine ( Abraham, Caleb, Solomon)
- God frequently blessed Polygamists ( Esau, Jacob, Gideon, David, Solomon, Belshazzar)

Matt. 7:1 "“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you"

Tell me, how much do YOU follow the exact word of the Bible and God? Let he who is WITHOUT SIN cast the first stone. John 8:7

Save the Bible crap for someone else, hypocrite. The Bible and "God" have nothing to do with this.

Most of your quotes are from the old testament. I'm not a hypocrite, because I have not and would not publicy take off my clothes. I know nobody is perfect; I'm not casting any stones. And you're wrong, God has something to do with everything.

You're a hypocrite because you're trying to basically damn this girl for sinning when I'm sure you yourself are not without sin. No one sin is any better then another. It doesn't matter where the quotes are from, they're still there, and you're the one that wanted to get all biblical and righteous.

Until you can say you have lived a complete and total sin free life, then your point is invalid. You were brought into this world naked and you are free to do with your body what you choose. If you don't agree with what she has done that's fine, however you do not need to judge her. You do not know her. have you ever practiced masturbation? If so you are a sinner in the eyes of God and your precious Bible. Did you have sex before marriage ? I'm sure you'll say no, but if so you are a sinner. Have you ever been divorced? Have you ever had lustful thoughts? Have you ever been turned on by a man with his shirt off? If so then YOU are a sinner.

I don't really care if you've sinned or not, because I do not believe in God or care about your story book.(I know, I am just damned to imaginary hell) what I do care about is that you're judging with no right. You're being a hypocrite.

Lastly I'll leave you with this: Bigotry wrapped in prayer is still bigotry.

I believe that the entire subject of this thread concerned whether or not it was appropriate for the Point Pleasant Register to have a front page story glorifying the "local" that wants to become a porn star.

Those picture will never go away. Just imagine the "talk" she will have to have in the future if she decides to have children and, eventually, grandchildren! Yikes!!! I have a tattoo from my younger years and that was a hard one to explain while still discouraging my child from wanting one! Even before you have children (if you intend to have any), you need to consider what your life choices are going to do to your kids! I can just imagine one of her future children's friends coming to school with a porn mag featuring his/her MOM.

Is this affecting ANY of your lives? No? Then shut up and leave her and her choices alone. Who cares who or what she'll have to answer to or explain in the future. This isn't the 1950s anymore, it's not that big of a deal. I'd rather explain to my children that I posed nude in playboy one time in my mid twenties, while also obtaining two bachelor degrees then have to explain to them why I was some druggie on welfare that couldn't / wouldn't provide for them. Which is exactly like a good majority of females around here.

You all need to worry about your own backyards before you bash this girl or bring her morals into question. You don't even know her.

actually, no. Your daughters DON'T have to read it. Also, it's a news paper it's not the magazine itself. Your precious daughters hear worse at school, see worse on TV. Get over yourselves.

Good for Beth. At least she is not living in the hole doing drug and sleeping with anyone she can get a fix from. I"ve seen her pics online and she has nothing to be ashamed of. Very beautiful.

I don't think anybody was trying to say she wasn't a pretty girl, just that it was a completely inappropriate story for the front page of our local hometown newspaper. And, you are correct, my girls DON'T have to read it ever again because we won't be getting the Point Pleasant Register anymore.
