Most all state workers have to. The teachers sure got their raises. Most state workers have to take a random drug test.
who does?

I don't know of any state job that requires random drug testing. I figure cops do, but I don't know of any others. Drug testing is an invasion of privacy and tells you nothing unless you catch someone right in it. The really bad drugs are out of your system in 72 hours or less. Teachers do have a "reasonable suspicion" drug testing policy, and of course if they are hurt at work they have to get tested.

correctional officers have to have random drug testing, and I'm not for sure about bus drivers. I think parents would want to know if a teacher is taking drugs. Wow so correctional officers are having an invasion of privacy.

I think they should have 2. I know my kid's teacher @ PPIS always has the glassy, half open eyes. Plus numerous kids say she nods off in class. Just sayin'.

When I go back to work I'm gonna have to tell my Director that it is a invasion of our privacy to take these random drugs tests..Lol I know when my children were in school how the teachers were. There was a few good teachers though.

It is an invasion of privacy. Just because you accept it doesn't mean it isn't. If your job performance is satisfactory there is no reason fir an employer to know what you do outside of work. Your private life is none of their business.

I don't think they should do it to kids either, unless they're suspected of being on something right then.

In the REAL WORLD, to get a good job, Most employers require a drug test prior to employment.

Random test are not always given unless it's a safety concern or the work requires it. A lot of employers will require a drug test in case of an accident or erratic behavior.

If teacher unions don't care if drug addicts teach your children, why should you? I'm not saying all teachers are drug addicts, or even half, but they do have the responsibility of being with YOUR CHILDREN for at least 8 hours a day.

You complain that there are drugs in schools.

If something stinks, it most likely stinks from the head down.

I need a pill.

I care about My Children, and sure care who is teaching them. If they can't handle the children then maybe they should look for another job. I raised my Children to have respect for other people. I work dealing with Children and I do my best and show them respect like I would want. Things aren't going to get any better anyway, everything is to far gone. I rely on Jesus and God to keep my Children Safe.

Any employee who receives a paycheck through the WV State Treasury as well as city and county employees must agree to be drug tested if their employer wishes it.

These are standard rules from the WV Division of Personnel that apply to all state employees - teachers included. It comes from receiving federal funds trickled down to the folks at PPJSHS.

The problem is that the costs of drug testing must be paid for by the local entity. The Mason County School Board will never pay for drug testing even though they should for teachers. The BOE would rather spend money on other crap.

Bottom line, teachers can be tested at any time for drugs as per the regulations but the BOE won't pay for it.

As already stated, teachers can be tested at any time. If all teachers were tested, you'd be on here pissing and moaning because your taxes went up to pay for it.

Because teachers' tax dollars are paying for your welfare checks! Why aren't you being drug tested to sit on your dead butts collecting free money?
Get a job therefore, you won't have time to complain about everything!
