You don't need degree to smell urine and not to tell if a house is clean enough for a child and to tell if they are well All you need is a grade school education to write a letter and tell some patent you are coming to check them I know it's the law and the laws are wrong alot in CPS cases Iknow of people quitting because the way it's ran and I can't blame them I don't stay on the computer all the time either but enough to see what's going on around me and see what I can do about it So if you got all that know how and if you work for CPS what are you doing there working for low pay The state rules are to make. Them money and not you

How about instead of using your time and energy on the computer talking about changing CPS, apply yourself and go back to college, get your 4 year degree in Social Work, take and pass your licensure test, get a job at DHHR, get paid like dog, be over worked, and help these kids you are talking about by following the rules/policies put in place by Your State of WV. By then if those working there are so corrupt they will no longer have a job and you can come right in and change the world one child at a time.

Easier said than done my friend. I have attended college and am now a licensed social worker. The same people are at the DHHR that were when I went in. It sounds so romantic to get a job at the DHHR and change everything yourself. The problem is, the LEADERSHIP is corrupt and no one in an entry level position will be able to change anything. They will instead, be forced to compromise themselves to the current administration.

By the way, the state of WV does not require a four year degree in order to become a licensed social worker. You can become licensed by working for an approved agency for a period of time and having them mentor your progress. This includes the DHHR. Just because any social worker is licensed does not even mean that they have ever attended college. Interesting tid bit for everyone.

Unfortunately, it is true. I cannot speak for the current workers as to whether they are degreed or not because I don't really know the educational background of any of them, but they are not required to attend college in order to obtain state licensure. It has been in the works for a long time to change the requirements, but it never passes through the state legislature.

It is hard to believe that someone would go without electric and water for a year. Whether or not they pay it monthly, they sure as hell can pay it with their tax refund. Some get up into the thousands of dollars on refunds.
