WRONG! No family Dr. cannot or will not write prescriptions for either one for an addiction. It takes spec. licenses to give suboxone and the methadone has to be prescribed as a pain med. Methadone can be a good thing if used correctly and not abused. YOU CANNOT GET HIGH ON METHADONE!!! However, mixing methadone with benzo's can and will kill you. You can go to Hunt. or Charleston WV. They are sister clinics so you can take you're pick, they have about the same rules and requirements. You need to have the right mind set and want to be clean of the opiates and you can regain your life and get it back under control. GOOD LUCK, and believe me it can work!!!
WRONG....a family doc can, and sum evidentally will write scripts for suboxone...im personally someone who has been on it for 4 years now.

There is a clinic in parkersburg, PTC, and in huntington. U can walk into these clinics and become a patient almost any business day. and these kinds of places saved my life and im better today. Its a process u have ro be comitted to, u really have to want to be clean for it to help. If u continue to try and abuse methadone u can for a short period of time. Its not a perfect drug tho and i personally believe suboxen is better. It just depends on how bad ur addicted i guess.

A family physician with a D.O not just a M.D. Very much CAN prescribe both meds you r talking about! For Suboxen all the need is a small (few hour) class to b able to write! Most local docs also have an "on site" addiction counselor as well! And as far as I know they can take up to 200 patients after a break in period!

Methadone saved my life. I been clean for 5 months since I started. Out has helped me to get my life back on track. I have money all the time now..can pay my child support on time every month.I receive no welfare help at all and finally found agreat guy who is totally against all drugs. He had been my support from day1 that I finally admitted to myself that I had a problem and quit denying to myself that I needed help.........finally after 6 1/2 years

Tweetybird is correct. and just for the record, Suboxone doesn't get you high in the same way methadone or heroin does, but it will make you nod out until you build up tolerance. I've been on boxes for YEARS. I've used methadone to get HIGH on more than on occasion
So now you're addicted to Suboxens. Ah, whats the next step?

no, a "decent" doctor would lose his liscense. You have to have be specialized in treatment for suboxone. NO one can issue rx for methadone, except for a facility such as CRC. Dr. Turner at HIMG can rx sub, but NO ONE in huntington can write methadone. THere is a clinic in KY that does methadone and sub.

a family doc can write scripts for methadone, but NOT for methadose, and in small doses for pain. The docs who "WILL" write rx for subs WILL lose their liscense if they do not have the right liscense for it, dummy.

You guys are really funny! And for the person who used the term "boxes" u have to still be dealing cause that is a street term for the medicine suboxone! Any person who is out of the "game" would NOT use that lingo..... Don't try to offer help when it obviously seems you are in need of some help as well! Just hearing that "lingo" makes my stomach turn! I guess I wish you well! Hope u realize you need to turn the "advice" on yourself! Peace outĄ

I think these doctors in columbus should do a pill count every week because most of them are going on the street here in point pleasant. As far as people that need it their just substituting one drug for another the answer is dont start drugs and you wont have to do either. I have been around it before and I have never done any of it so I know it can be done, You just have to have respect for your self and your family because your not only killing your self your also killing your family.

and these people saying you are trading one addiction for another are missing the point..who cares if you are addicted that is not the issue for opiate users because most will tell you there problems do not come from the actual usage of the drugs but come when they do not have the drug meaning having subs or methadone provided consistently gives you the opportunity to live a stable life..you can hold a job go to school watever and thats what matters not this notion of being "sober"

For the idiot claiming you "can't get high" how about you do a little research before sticking your foot in your mouth. The FDA has full on admitted that you ARE able to abuse these AND get HIGH.

I'm not even an addict, I don't do anything, including drinking alcohol or smoking cigarettes and I know that. I have compassion and understanding for battling addicts, and a sense of pride for those trying to stop, regardless if it means "replacing one addiction with another" because I have had many family members and close friends battle these demons. It's a fight you should be so lucky to never experience. You may win the battle, but you're forever fighting the war.

I'd rather someone on suboxone or methadone, going to work and taking care of business, then a dope fiend nodding out doing nothing and going nowhere. It's a sad life to live. Instead of judging or bashing someone, try helping them...by ANY means necessary.

If you people really have a true desire to get help, you would go to a longterm inpatient rehab and get the help you need to get off of drugs. All drugs. Otherwise, you cannot claim to be "clean".

I've got a question? Is methadone a life time drug? Or do they ween you off it?
