TNT is trashed, the roads are almost impassible, the trash in and around the ponds is nasty, the brush is so thick you can't walk thru it, they keep all the gates closed, where the hell is the tax money going to?! I'd like to see things changed , as in , new mgmt for TNT area, I'm planning on starting a petition , i also have many ideas on changes, such as, designated dumpster areas, public use. Brush clearing teams, TNT wide clean up, possible student summer jobs, ect... Any suggestions on how to get the ball rolling ? I'm not the smartest lol , thanks god bless !

TNT use to be a nice place...back in the 70's & before. the triangle use to be a nice little park with picnic tables, grills etc & it was kept mowed, as were other places in the area. times changed & people 'higher' up i reckon didnt want to use the money for the upkeep. the ponds were all accessable to fish in/picnic by. sad it has went to waste.

The problem is, that was back before the toxic super fund cleanup back in the 80s. Now a days they don't want people up there to picnic and hang out. They only want you fishing in certain ponds that have recently been made. My guess is that there is still stuff up there in the soil and water that people need to stay away from. That why all the roads are gated and blocked because they don't want people up there in certain areas. I'm guessing they aren't even sure where all of the toxic stuff was.

Still doesn't explain the dump sites, logging, and horrible county roads that go thru it...

yeah it pretty well stays trashed, people go fishing, leave their night crawler cups pop bottles, beer cans, rubbers, etc.strung everywhere, they have no respect for the outdoors nor themselves and it really shows!
the best thing that could be done for the tnt area,is to completely close it off,put a big electric fence around it and not let anyone in,pass through or anything! it's very apparent there's no management, one old geezer to pick up trash, and a dnr guy who won't get out of his vehicle because he has his shoes off! and he'd rather use his p.a. system to see what you are doing,if even that! yeah shut 'er down!

Yes it is a trash infested site in the TNT area...why? because they don't care, all they are interested in is letting it grow wild so they can improve the waterfowl. Look at the ponds see how they are all a mess, why in the world would they allow that if the ponds are for public use? I know at one time they had all the chemicals to clean them ponds out and to keep them clean but they didn't want to because they were more concerned about the waterfowl. That came straight from an employee at the McClintic station. I am sure that Duck hunting brings in some money to this county but can you imagine how much revenue TNT could bring if it was cleaned up so everybody could come and enjoy camping, fishing. I am sure with some time and money this place could be fixed up and be presentable to the whole Country and not just a few.

WELL lets see if you did clean it up and put it back like it was at one time HOW long do you think it would last befor people that run that place at night doing drugs and drinking and tearing shit up like everwhere else that tryed to have a nice place to camp and picnic them kind of people make it hard on us all they play we pay maybe we as the people could patrol as we go thought there and if we catch them doing shit like they do kick their ass and run them out and take back out places that we miss so much.that would be the only way once they see we are going to enforce what we half to because the cops will not do it.
WHAT DO YOU THINK..

To Backwoods

I like the petition idea!
approximate population of Mason County is 28,000 people. To get the majority, you will need 51% which is about 14,200 signatures. Sure, this sounds like a lot. If 10 people get 50 signatures daily, you will have 51% after about 29 days. Then present that to the county meeting (give them a copy). I would expect nothing or very little to change as a result, but you could give a nice story. To the newspapers. Imagine everyone in the county then knowing that the county government did not react to the petition! Also, let it be known that you have 51%. An elected official would be concerned, as those people might all be voters, which should generate action. If no response, you can use the information you gathered to eventually place your people into the elected slots. Please bring paper and pen to write down any concerns the people are concerned about. This knowledge WILL give you a great advantage come election time! Keep up the good work.

I love to see the place cleaned up. I'd would volunteer to help pick up trash and mow and weedeat. These cops need to keep an eye out on drug dealers and drunks out there that throws there beer cans out and all that stuff. Just like the handicap pond look how nasty it is and ran down it is. I'd live to help fix it up but why do it If no one will help keep it clean. Cops and gameborden need to stop giving people hard times for fishing with out licens and what not and do there real job.

I'd be first in line to help clean up the TnT area. But there is one problem. The don't want the area cleaned up. If you clean up the brush and the undergrowth this will scare all the deer away when all the families start coming out for pinics and hiking and fun. My best friend his wife and another couple were riding on HORSEBACK on Potters Creek Rd. and were stopped by Wildlife officers (NOT Game Warden) and told not to ride past the gates.(This was about a year before the blast) They were told no vehicles beyond the gates...No 4 wheelers --Trail Bikes--Mountain Bikes--or even Horses. When my friend ask why. They told him they were trying to protect the plant life..WHAT THE HELL..He told them "Plant life it's all Weeds and undergrowth.." So if we want to clean up anything it will have to be done thur proper channels..
