Keep in mind a few things:

Hospital Quality of Outcomes Ratings; In fact; ALL hospital quality ratings are not in real-time; but lag behind for several months. Release dates of rating by ratings organizations are well after the time period being reported on-----clear?

Hospitals provide their on stats and numbers voluntarily for the most part; and ALL hospitals will fudge these stats and numbers in their own favor in as much as possible.

If a hospital spirals down to a very low and poor rating in a particular category particularly an important category; it does so over time; so lets say a hospital ranks sixth worst in an important quality measure category out of ALL hospitals in the U.S. At some point in past years then; it must have ranked tenth from the bottom or twentieth from the bottom or fiftieth from the bottom; or even one-hundredth from the bottom. You understand? Do you get it?

Now lets say that this hospital with the SIXTH WORST RANKING IN THE U.S.; 6th from the BOTTOM of ALL hospitals in the U.S.; all of a sudden gets MUCH BETTERMuch Higher rankings within a year or two after making the newspapers for the poor ranking; Suddenly much better. Using your powers of inductive and deductive reasoning; What does that say to you about how many years it took to get from 100th worst in that quality category; all the way down to sixth worst in the country? If it got fixed and improved so quickly; say in a year or two improved dramatically; what does that imply to you? What does that tell you? Do you get it? Do you understand?

Look up the word indicative. If a hospital is so terrible in ONE very crucial and critical and important Quality Rating; what does that IMPLY about the Quality of Care in that hospital?

Saw the article in Charleston and Huntington papers. Buried in back pages. WVHA response was embarrassing cover-up and poor excuse or explanation. Not fair to health care consumers in WV.

Thank you.I,for one, intend to advise a close family member to ask for every medical record and copies of all tests and stays and reports and every scrap of everything to have 're-evaluated and reorganised and looked at by a lawyer if there were mistakes made. I have no confidence in a hospital that ranks 6th from the bottom in an important quality measure out of the thousands of hospitals in the whole country. There are no excuses. It is a disgrace to the hospital, to the doctors, and to the community of Point Pleasant.

There can be no good excuse for any hospital to be the 6th worst in the country for anything to do with quality of care, and as stated above, if it all of a sudden got better after that rating came out, then lots of people have malpractice claims for the ten years prior when they failed to change whatever got changed so quick. Do they think we are total idiots? Yes, they probably do.
By the way, PVH recruits the physicians, accredits the physicians, and extends hospital privileges, so they are responsible and accountable a n d culpable for EVERYTHING they do. PVH puts their "stamp of approval" on each and every one of them on behalf of every PVH PATIENT. NO EXCUSE! Disgraceful and shameful. As stated above, "Indicative".

Far too many PVH truths have been kept from the consumers and the Community owning the hospital. The Board does not own it. The administrators do not own it. The physicians do not own it. The politicians, the county, the town, the state -- NONE of them own it. WE OWN IT! The People of our region OWN IT.

If you as a community "own" it & want it to keep it running, then pay your bills(everything in life isn't free!) that in turn pay some of is hard working employees that do care about the community & you as patients. Some people in this community think we can work of free, I'm sorry, I wish I could, but I have a family to take care of & can't get any welfare assistance & barely can make it on what pay/check I do get. So please support the ones that are working & that do care for you & our jobs.

The more they make the more administration will pocket (or steal it and get away with ). The hospital will never do better until all of the snakes are weeded out!
