I work for a very large hospital system in a large city, but I am from your region and my heart breaks for all PVH employees. I can tell you though, that you are not alone. Yes, the PVH financial issues probably started prior to Obamacare. Any institution that is not well managed, and did not start preparing for Obamacare as soon as it was first mentioned will have a difficult time surviving unscathed. No system, no matter how large or small, can take reimbursements cuts like we all are without excellent planning and preparedness, or strong reactions such as layoffs or closures. My suggestion to you is to pressure the board into continued investigations and analysis. Unless serious changes are made, PVH will continuously find itself repeating the "do more with less" process until there aren't enough employees left to open the doors. In the end, patients will suffer, errors will be made, and potentially lives will be list. Stop fighting, band together, and fight for your community. You never know when it will be you or your family member in a crisis situation, and if PVH is understaffed or - God forbid - closed, the minutes lost in transit could mean the difference in life or death. It's worth fighting for, as a community and as a work family! Best wishes and God bless.

PVH EMPLOYEES NEED TO KNOW THIS, MANY MAKE LESS THEN 8 DOLLARS AN HOUR , HOW MUCH DOES TOM MAKE A YEAR , A SMALL CUT IN HIS SALARY COULD KEEP A FEW MORE PEOPLE EMPLOYED. it is a sad sad thing to happen. THEY ALWAYS WANT TO SHOW A LOSS, SO THE GOVERNMENT CAN BAIL THEM OUT . THE BOARD MEMBERS NEED TO REALLY THINK ABOUT HOW THE HOSPITAL IS RAN, I KNOW OF ONLY ONE BOARD MEMBER THAT IS A DOCTOR THEY REST HAVE NO MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE AT ALL AND THEY MAKE THESE DECISIONS WITH ANY MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE, THAT IS TOTALLY CRAZY

As for the Christmas Party, that measly little party is probably the only time that we as employees get some kind of acknowledgement that some of us do our jobs. Other than really "liking" our job, making/keeping/having a "true" friend there, really actually caring for our patients, our pitiful checks & maybe someone getting voted as employee of the month, do any of us hardworking employees get any type of incentive of going to work at PVH. I love my job & my patients, but unfortunately crap rolls downhill, the rich get richer & the poor keep getting poorer. That's sad to say, but it's the truth. I really don't look for it to change anytime soon. o

PVH will never change! The ones to get their pink slips will be the ones not in the "good ol boys club" that like to drink and party together outside of work. Maybe they should have not had a Christmas party this year and saved that money and a few bucks there as well. Make the so called unit managers work the floor as a staff nurse witha patient load of up to 8-9 patients at a time instead of trying to always find fault in what the nurses are doing. Cuts should start at the top and go down. Where they are starting is gonna be a real bad ideaas far as patient care.

Not all the employees off of South One deserved to go. You obviously don't know very well. Some if the employees needed their jobs and insurance some were told that it was in their best interest to take the voluntarily lay off due to illness or sickness they may have. Some could file discrimination against PVH. It's not fair to those who needed their jobs. PVH lost good workers who worked hard in more departments than one. I have been there more than 10 years it's only going to get worse.

As I said NOT ALL---- But ALOT-- of them deserved to go. And when doing a reduction in force you can't go by who "needs their job"-- everyone does- otherwise they wouldn't be there taking the BS PVH dishes out to us all on a daily basis.

There were quite a few employees that were let go that did not deserve it! They should have laid off the ones sitting down there bragging that they are so special that they wouldnt dare be let go because they are just too valuable! Or the ones in the Dr's offices that are bragging that they have over 100 hours on her pay check . Wake up PVH. Wake up supervisors. IF you would just listen to some of the ignorance that comes out of mouths of those ones that brag, you would have laid off the right ones instead of the ass kissers! the ones kissing ass are the ones that are stabbing you in the back! There is not One Employee at PVh that cant be replaced! I cant wait to see the day that they get their pink slips!! And it will happen, so brag on!

Yes, we had a Christmas story; yes, we got a Christmas bonus; yes, we have t-shirts w/ the logo on it;yes, you may hear the dr say charge that food;yes, they're remodeling floors & making a new section or a women's center. But what some of you people running your mouths on here only are telling half the story or do you even know what you're talking about? The Christmas party was probably one of the few times that some of the higher ups showed any appreciation for their workers. And the prizes/giveaways were either donated by businesses in the surrounding communities, individual people, or some of the actual dr's themselves. As for the logo t-shirts, they have sales that we order from & that we pay for out of OUR checks, sometimes we may get a freebie if it's a national special medical occasion, & other times are when that have charitable events & you pay to participate in, the $$ goes to a very good charity & then you may get a shirt to show your support. As for the dr's always charging/not paying for food: they may say can you charge it, but it does come out of their checks just like everyone else's,& plenty of times I've seen dr's pay with cash & they've even picked up the tab for us or their employees or a perfect stranger/patient. As for remodeling, if you don't work in the health profession/field them you must not know anything about JACHO/joint commission or Medicaid/Medicare guidelines. JACHO tells you if you are going to stay open or not bc the floors, walls, or your computer system is not up to date/up to code. Most of the remodeling you are seeing is funded mostly by grants from the govt or already budgeted in & has been planned for over a year. Some of you may not know also that PVH is a nonprofit hospital(community owned)-that means they really cannot make a profit off a bill or make them pay(like how holzer sues everyone & can refuse to see you at all.) they may send you to collections, but that's about the extent of it. They did however starts new policy that we can collect a copay, sometimes that's the only money that the hospital ever sees! It's pretty sad when you have the poor seniors(who have worked for it their entire life) on Medicare having to pay a $3.00 copay when they have to make the decision to either buy food or their heart med this month; when you have a lot of people who are abusing the system(who can work, but won't & refuse to, bc they think they are owed something or bc their back hurts sometimes- well guess what? Who's back doesn't hurt?!(My neck & head hurts all the time, I have debilitating migraines,I have some bulging/herniated disc that need surgery, but I work! & so does everyone else with way more/problems than you or I could ever fathom!!the people that abuse the system come for a visit bc they have a hang nail or for every petty little thing-just bc it's free, don't pay a copay or a bill, & then complain about having to pay $0.50-3.00 for a script(but can pay $5.00 for a pack of cigarettes??) Get your priorities straight. Plus if we lose our jobs, who is gonna pay for you to wrack up your welfare bill that I already pay for? if we don't work we can't put money into it! I was taught to work for what you have & work hard for & you'll appreciate it more. I'm only 32, but I appreciate everything my husband & I work very hard for.(And this all started way before Obama got here!!

I agree with someone saying they're laying off the low end people(some did work, but a bunch did not), they do need to check some of higher people. Why is it that us as employees can see all of this(where cuts, jobs, ideas) needs to be made/changed, but yet no one from the board, or anywhre else from higher up that matter has asked for any input/opinions? They probably don't want the truth. Who do they think is going to do those jobs when no one is here? Bc there are some employees that act like emptying a trash can when it's so full & over flowing, wiping down an exam table, or keeping their work area clean isn't their job. Sure, go ahead & leave your trash, leave your exam table filthy, leave your work area a mess, well 1. Your work area only makes you look like a disgusting, unorganized slob 2. It makes your doctor/clinic look disgusting & gets you talked about, & 3. When joint commission/JACHO comes around we will all say thanks when you get us fined(or have someone's-if not your own-license suspended). Everyone has to pitch in to make something work. It takes 100% from everyone: from housekeeping, kitchen staff, couriers, to the president of PVH. Yes, it really sucks right now, but maybe we(myself definitely included) should quit with the bad mouthing of people & just pray for what's going on, pray for those who have lost their job & pray for the future. PVH has a lot of great staff & yes it may not pay a lot, may not be the best place to work at all the time, but it is a job & we are like family & a lot of us really do care for our patients & want to make them feel better/comfortable. Now we'll have to stick together and work harder, but we've proven it in the last few months, we can continue on doing it! Lets hold our heads high & not let these people or the community down!! And I am sorry for being rude, but things get a little frustrating when people want to say things only knowing/hearing part of the story. Hope this clears some stuff up. I'll be praying for all of us!! May God bless PVH & help us to get through this trying time!!

As for our Christmas "bonus", it was $100 & was taxed. But was greatly appreciated bc it really helped me & my husband (who both work very hard) to buy a little more for our daughter for Christmas. So before you start bashing things maybe you should ask more about the situation first.

Yes I do work in an office, which is held to the same set of govt standards that hospitals are bc the office is under the hospital/entity. & yeah I did work in the hospital for a while and I've worked in the medical/healthcare field for a while now & know a little about the stuff. I'm not of these people that thinks they're holier Han thou. I can admit when I'm wrong & admit my mistakes. I didn't say people didn't know ANY of it, I believe I sd they didn't know all of the facts. Which I don't either, which is why I only talked about what I know of: I've bought my logo t-shirts myself(came out of my check), went to the Christmas party & saw the list of donated list of give-a-ways, & trust me our brains are hammered all the time about protocol/Medicaid/Medicare standards.
