One of the main reasons small, rural, Community hospitals exist is for wellness programs, preventive medicine, and healthy lifestyle education for the community members and population owning the hospital. If anyone disagrees with this, then let them say so publicly and by their own name, board members, CEO, or whomever.

This message is for mature intelligent adults, teens, and the leaders and educators among you. Do you recall 3-4 years ago when some of the employees got together and sent anonymous letters to the board members, the doctors and their wives, and the administration of PVH?

Letters about favoritism and sleazy behavior and nude male calendars on the wall in billing and the two male directors who were always loitering around acting and talking inappropriately; Tom will know exactly what we are saying. It was around the time the angry wife sent her letter to a few hundred people in Point.

None of that is the point, here, except for time reference because at about the same time, some of the nurses sent all of the hospital brass some letters and information and stats and web sites about STDs. Especially about HPV. We requested that the hospital get involved in a huge way in education and prevention in our schools, and the entire community.

We will give you a lot of information in the coming weeks. We will give you horrible, unbelievable statistics. We will give you web sites and information resources on the internet and otherwise; all endorsed by the Centers For Disease Control, The American Cancer Society, and The American Medical Association. HPV is incurable, and has been linked directly and positively in just very recent years to many, many forms of cancer besides the vast majority of cervical cancer in women, which has been known for several years.

HERE IS THE HUGE QUESTION!!! Why would Tom, our Board, and our Physicians; why did they not take this request and jump on it and run with it? They still haven't!

We have our own theory. What is your's?

They are too busy running off all the good patients with the ridiculous application process to even see one of the physicians there.
The way I see it don't punish good honest people, just cut the patients that doctor shop or abuse medication.
I have a better idea, the doctor should have to complete an application to present to the patients to see if folks even want them as doctors.
The majority of admissions come from physicians practice, so if those good patients leave because of doctors that wont precribe certain medications or send poor eldely folks that have obvious issues to a stupid pain clinic over an hour away to get their meds. They should just find another doctor that can meet all of their needs.
It is really a shame to have some older and obviously disabled people that need their meds be treated like a piece of trash by some people that work in those offices.
Patients do have a bill of rights under the law.

Denial is not an option. Not an option for PVH or for parents of teens or for adults of any age.

Did you know that just ONE new sexual encounter exposes you to the sexual behavior and history of more than 200 individuals if you are between the ages of 12 and 25? If you are between the ages of 25 to 60; then multiply that number by ten. Don' t take our word for it. Go to the ACA, the AIDS FOUNDATION; or the CDC websites and research it.

Why would PVH ignore our request to partner with area schools for education, prevention, and awareness of these deadly or life changing diseases? No, not just ignore, but DENY! We cannot deny any longer. The CDC and the ACE have both called . the dangers of STDs at epidemic levels, bordering on pandemic. Other mutating viruses like fluid and the Hangs virus and Avian flu do not even come close to posing the same kinds of risks to Public Health. We cannot afford DENIAL!

Why would'nt this be the responsibility of the county health department instead of the hospital?

Just asking.

Parents and Grandparents---- this is so true and important to our children, as well as to adults. Educate yourselves and read and research and follow the advice of these caring nurses. Thank God some people at this hospital still take their profession seriously and realize what their responsibilities are.

Still, no reply. Sounds like they're trying to get PVH to buy a pig in a poke. The reason they won't reply is It's the responsibility of the County Health Department to provide needed programs such as this. Sure, hospitals sponsor small preventative programs, however their main duties are to care for the injured and ill, or am I being an old fashion Conservative.

Well, 23 hours later and still no reply. The topic was'nt as important as they thought it was. Now you know why the Hospital denied the sponsorship of your project.

Google HPV Cancers American Cancer Society or Mayo Clinic or American Academy of Pediatrics or women's health

Or centers for disease control You guys are obviously people who would not share with your partners that you have an STD before having sex. Yo would give them the mushroom treatment.

HPV is an important issue, and I do believe partners should share that information. I simply asked why this is not the duty of the County Health Department rather than the Hospital.

Just wondering.

Just want to be sure we understand you correctly. Are you SERIOUSLY suggesting that PVH has no undeniable, primary, leading- initiative role to educate the public they are sworn to serve in education, awareness, prevention and wellness efforts relating to what the CDC, the AMA, The American Cancer Society, The American Academy of Pediatrics, and virtually every healthcare entity of any prestige has characterized the recently confirmed links between HPV and throat, nose, mouth, tongue, penile, vaginal, anal, colorectal, and many other directly linked cancers as having epidemic growth in the past ten or twelve years? We will educate the public since PVH refused to for years now, since the ENd wrote the Board and administration letters about this and many other concerns about 3-4 years ago. Google: HPV and recent cancer links : You will get hundreds of hits. Try CDC and ACS links. If you were trying to defend PVH, you failed miserably.

That should read RNs, NOT ENds. Sorry.

My opinion, it still should go through the county Health Department.
