They get their merchandise donated and are tax exempt so what is their excuse for up pricing everything. GREED!!! The execs are collecting the profit and the manager is bonusing off sales. They under pay their employees and that includes the disabled employees.Poor people have no where to turn. The manager should watch who she brags to about how much she made. It's a small town ya know. There is no goodwill at goodwill.

i used to love this goodwill store,it was by far the best goodwill store that i had been to,but now its all changed and not for the better, these items are donated but the point pleasant goodwill store is marking them up to almost as expensive as store prices, the dollar bins are now gone, guess they thought the public should not get anything as cheap as a dollar, heaven forbid! even low end jeans, they are charging $6.00 a pair, & the name brands jeans are $10.00, i think this is just too high, lots of people shop there for their kids clothes when they cant afford the big store prices, but now this goodwill is just after the almighty dollar, i don't go in there much, and probably will just stop going all together, especially since now they quit the end of the month sale, guess they thought the customers were getting the donated merchandise too cheap, shame on this money grubbing goodwill!
The best goodwill I have been to is in West Huntington. They have a huge store and a lot of product...when i was there last they had a lot of new brand name clothes with the tags on (not my size, of course) up in the front with the new items. I think they got a load of buyout products that the company was writing off...and they probably do that a lot considering their location. I found a lot of good name baby clothes (which was what i really was there for) from Children's Place, Gymboree, Good Lad, Carter's that were like new. With prices too high at Goodwill in Point, it would almost be more beneficial to look at consignment shops or at yard sales!

goodwill sucks people give them everything they get and they take home what they want for nothing or you could say they steal it and to make matters worse they throw a lot of good stuff in the dumpsters and they will not give it someone that might need it BUT GOODWILL IS NOT FOR PEOPLE THAT NEED HELP IT IS just another way for people to get rich people needs to quit buying that stuff and that would put them out of business that where they need to be HELL EVERYTHING IS 1OO PER CENT FREE 100% profit people think they help the poor they do not they would not give you a coat if you was freezing and that skin-e looking manager at point look like the walking dead GOODWILL ON GOOD!!

I am sad about the recent price jumps, but that has nothing to do with this individual store. I also shop at the Huntington and charleston Goodwills. Apparently, the Point Goodwill is connected to the Huntington stores and they have 'universal' pricing for most things for all stores. All the Charleston Goodwills have their stores priced the same as well. But as a shopper, I have an option of not buying. I still get some great deals, so I keep going back.(Mostly because I am cheap. haha) As far as the employees go, the 2 stores where I get the best service is the Point Goodwill and the Charleston Goodwill. Friendly workers who have gone out of their way many times to help me find a particular item.(Which in a thrift store is hard to do sometimes.) As, I said I am disappointed about recent up prices but I will still be shopping at "The Goodwill". Oh, and has the manager lost a lot of weight? I was in there not too long ago and she looked the same .... I hope she is not sick, she is such a sweet lady.

Don't worry, poor people DO have somewhere to turn! I work for the government and there are TONS of programs to help 'poor people'. And I'm pretty darn sure the employees at Goodwill don't work off commission. haha It's Goodwill, not a car dealership. And by "pretty darn sure", I mean I know this for a fact but don't want to sound like I'm correcting your fallacies...

All this goodwill talk makes me wonder. What is the best deal you've ever gotten at a Goodwill and what is the most unusual item you have ever seen or possibly purchased?
Personally, I think my best deal would be a beautiful rug (floor size). It was $10. Loved it and still use it.
Unusual item: One time I saw a 70's style hair dresser chair that head the hair dryer that comes down and fits over your head. It had the 70's flower on the chair. It sat in that back room for a long time and it was only $5.

I'll admit that I did'nt like the recent changes at the Goodwill but the place does look better. No one likes change, but in the recent economy all businesses have to make adjustments to get by. I'm sure they do not own the building that they are in and rent is not cheap these days, or utilities for that matter. All said it is still cheaper than regular retail stores and some yard sales even. And I just love the girls that work there, they are friendly and funny and it seems like they enjoy working there. They have always went out of their way to help me.

my father never liked to give anything to goodwill he said they charged people to much for stuff. i was in there last week and was very surprised to see they have raised prices on their purses and have done away with their tables of dollar stuff i go for kids close and they had nothing..people should advertise their stuff on face book to give away instead of giving it to them people and i know the manager sells some of their stuff on ebay..if they dont have face book give it to the gospel lighthouse church they give the stuff away.
