There never used to be 'NIMBY' ideals in Alaska. Since the influx of 'southerners', the landscape has changed drastically. No more tolerance, just 'Me, Me, Me'. People used to move to Alaska to get away from that crap. Now it's all over the place, like a mangy dog with the runs. It stinks and leaves its feces all over the landscape.
Hell, even 'Problem Corner' had to bow to these outsiders. They brought their 'litigation mindset' up from california, ohio, and parts south. Ya' can't get day labor from PC anymore because some jackass 'Lower forty-eighter' has sued 'Problem Corner' because a day laborer broke his window Would the same Jerk sue the local Grocery store for hiring someone off their message board? I doubt it, but they see KINY as 'deep pockets' and sue just because they can.
This didn't used to be the Alaskan way. Nowadays ya might as well be living in texas, or one of the other sh*t states.
