I was falsely accused by a new employee of smelling like "weed" at work. Now I am under investigation. The acting Supertindent who mishandled the situation has told several people that I will be taking a UA. He is making this statement before human resources has decided if there is going to be an investigation. I am an 18 year correctional officer and I work in Bethel. Do I have any legal recourse against my accuser and the Supertindent for defamation. Granted I am still waiting to hear from HR. this happened on 4/27/13. I realize HR could throw this totally false accusation out but I don't understand how someone can up and make a statement about someone especially this kind of accusation and nothing can be done to them.
