"Fort Smith directors are giving themselves more time to consider a request to ban new wells around the now-vacant Whirlpool site. Due to contamination, Whirlpool Corp. has asked the city to pass an ordinance banning the drilling of groundwater wells near the company’s former refrigerator plant at 6400 Jenny Lind Road."
The proposed ordinance was up for vote Tuesday but was pulled from the meeting agenda by the Fort Smith Board of Directors on Friday.
