Does the city of Pocola welcome new residents or do they interogate them as to why they moved there.

I moved to Pocola 3 years ago. I have a son that is 20 years old. He has never been pulled over anywhere. The Pocola police department has pulled him over 5 times for bs reasons. He has not been issued any citations but just herassed. Not happy with choice of buying house in this town.

My family moved to pocola about 7 months ago. We had a alarm system put in our home for our own peace of mind. Recently our home was broken into and it took the police over 15 minutes to get there. I might should mention we live less than a mile from the station. There is a drug deal going on weekly in our addition and the police do not care. Why? Because they are apart of it.

RE: above posts about Pocola Police & why would anyone move to Pocola.....I have lived here for many years...but not a "native". Pocola is a good area with lots of very fine people living here and also with the same problems of any "bedroom community" anywhere....people want to sleep here & do everything else in Poteau or Fort Smith. Over the years I have seen the good, the bad & the ugly and sometimes all at the same time. I really don't have any experience with the police dept. & will reserve judgment of the Police Dept at this time except to say that they do appear to have "lots" of officers & a highly paid chief that does not even help patrol. The town government meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of each month & I would suggest to anyone that wants to help change Pocola & help to rid it of it's negative images needs to start coming to meetings & get involved. I remember the last city elections when only about 700 or so people out of about 2000 registered voters bothered to vote.

I will be at the next city meeting. I look forward to it. If I'm going to live in this town, I will make my voice heard dispute the dear of retribution. I guess I should prepare for my home to continue to be broken in.

Bingy should be dingy!!!!! I have called the police on different occasions and unless they are busy they come right over. did you call the police Cheif and find out way it took so long? I had a home alarm system and it would take ADT about 10 to 15 min. before they would call anyone. Do you think that might have happened?

Thanks Chevyman-I received the phone call on my cell right after the police were notified so I know the exact time frame. I can't help it that our police chief gets paid $50K a year to have coffee at the casino. Furthermore, the police acted as if I were a burden. Sorry some idiot tried to be cool and break in my home in broad daylight. I guess I should just quit my job, stay at home and blow the persons head off next time. Maybe that would get some attention. And please tell me when they are busy. Everytime I see them they are at the station or at the Tote A Poke shootin the bull or washing their cars. You must have a friend on the force.

What else can you expect in a small hole in the road town. If the police had anything going for them they would not be in a small one horse town working for pennies. I bet none of them even have a high school education. Just a bunch of small town losers.

I like "what else do you expect" comments. Perfect. I'm so glad I have a education with a good job and just sleep in this town. Or Chevyman, I'm not crying, just concerned that my tax dollars are being used to sponsor drug rings that Bo one cares to look into:

to anyone that plans to read my comments and compiled facts and those of the victim and other possible victims and the events that MAY have led to Rodney Fricks reported suicide attempt

on this page,

http://www.kfsm.com/news/kfsm-news-rv-pocola-...
please note these important details:
before march 29th 2010 there was
only one comment on this article thats dated february 11th, 2010 from a girl who claims to

be a former employee of Rodney Frick.
On march 29th 2010 the Victim in this case made a comment
to the alleged former employee and a plea for help from her and to anyone that would read

her words; that she was suffering emotionally because of continual injustice that was

brought on her due to Rodney Fricks continual harassment and the inactions of the Leflore

County DA's Office. My comment is 3rd on March 29th 2010 and in response to the first

comment by the alleged former employee. March 29th was also the first business day after Sat

March 27th 2010; On March 27th 2010, according to the victim, several witnesses and family

members of the victim; Rodney Frick and a female companion creeped slowly by the victims

home on his motorcycle. The victims stepmother called the DA's office on Monday March 29th

2010 and was told that it was a public road and that it was not a violation of the

protective order; according to court documents, Frick had already violated the protective

order once and was allowed to slide all the way till November 2009 before charges were filed

for the first violation.
On Tuesday March 30th a new girl commented in response to the victims plea for any other

victims to come forward. and claims to have been touched inapropriately by mr frick while

being taken on a ride along in a pocola police car. early Wednesday morning on March 31st

2010 Rodney Frick was arrested for threatening to take his life and for the second violation

of the protective order because he was in illegal possession of a gun. There are more

comments that you can read but just to let you know that within about 48 hours the single

comment on this site grew to 29. After the reported suicide threat and arrest of Frick, KFSM

removed 13 of the 29 comments which included correspondence between the victim and two

ppl=one of which identified herself as one of Fricks daughters. another page that was

removed is the 6th page to my statement; which has been removed twice. Ive been trying to

figure out why they keep deleting the last page, but i will find out so that i may fix it.

Longtime Citizen,

I believe the police dept. has a few good officers, but I've also seen in the past few yrs. drugs on the rise in the small town of Pocola.I can not point fingers as I do not know what does on at the P.D .I do know that it will take more than a few good ones to make a turn around. As far as the city guy that has to many jobs(no names mentioned)I would love to have his job with all the free gas(as gas prices are crazy)Also I would love to see someone put a stop to his reckless driving as we do have children in the town of Pocola.Hoping one day people see that Pocola can be a wonderful place to raise a family.
