That is probably why they want to raise the rates. You gotta have money to lay new lines. I don't know anything about it myself ....haven't heard anything about rates going up. If you need to know anything, go to the town council meetings.

From what I understand the rate increases will still not be as high as the PSA rates are right now. Pocahontas has the lowest water rates around with no increases in years. It is impossible to not increase them. You don't have to subscribe to their water, though.

yea Psa is alittle higher but you get the service with that. the town has had terrible service from fixing leaks to not reading meters to just nasty water!
and days to fix every leak then never telling anyone to boil thier water till someone complains then they might tell you to.

We need a rate increase to keep things going if not the Town will not make it. And Darrel and the new council told me they would give me a raise if the rate increase passed.

It takes money (rate increases) to fix the town's water problems. If the funds are not there, they have to do the best they can. Every one wants clean water to use. The Pocahontas Water System is old and needs to be updated. It takes money for that, the chemicals that are used, and people to run the system. How many of you who complain about the system would be willing to do the work that they do for the amount they are paid? You have to go school to get your license to operate the plant and that takes money also. There are more costs that what the average person might imagine.

Good luck getting everyone to give that information up. But that info may possibly be obtained at the county offices.

Has the original debt for the water system been paid off ? If so, would Pocahontas be eligible to another loan to upgrade the system? Just wondering. The water system hasn't deterioted overnight; been happening a little at a time for many years.
