Cases in past have all settled, We dont even hear about settlement. Shame on our officials and shame on the voters who dont go to polls and vote the bums out. Tax payers rather pay compensation for wrong doing and discrimination against the people and now appears a civil rights violation lawsuit against the county. Civil rights folks, thats your rights being challenged too. Are you going to judge people standing up against the wrong doers, or let the city lawyer give it to you in the rear again? Might consider getting behind some of these people showing some backbone against corrupt officials. Make the paper report it, Make the quorum court announce and explain on thursday and the city at city council meetings, Dont judge!! A Federal Judge does not hand over money to a plantiff for nothing, A wrong has to be shown for it to even get on a Fed. court docket Demand answers and transparency and get behind these folks doing the leg work to prove wrong doing. And the expense. Shame on voters TEA

Shame on our elected officials
you are right about a couple of things
Our elected official do nothing but sit on their butts asking taxpayers for more money living off our tax dollars
Cheaper to shut her up? or maybe better to settle then for the voters to know what a sorry job they are doing.

You have a Federal Judge looking at FACTS in cases like these. You have a Federal Judge looking at both sides of a story layed out in a strict timeline and put on his desk. He then hears the story in person at a settlement conference. He then awards damages and compensation to one party not both parties. He bases the amount of money on the merit of FACTS not opinion or rumor. A Federal Judge made this comment once upon a time in recent case " Them officials down there in Randolph County dont seem to care how much money they cost the taxpayers do they" I will quote Anita Murphy on same case " We dont publish anything negative on our city officials" Now its perfectly legal to pick your side of a story without facts or merit. I choose facts and merit when I state my opinion. TEA and taxed enough already! Some folks however really dont want to hear the truth because they are on the wrong side. Perfectly ok and within your rights. I am only educating some about how a Federal Judge acts, Seen enough of them and they all wear different hats and you better have facts and proof before you waste his or her time. They move swiftly if one side is weak. Randolph County and the City has been on the weak side for a long time now. They remain in power and weak on policy all due to your tax money and the federal government handouts by way of free grants. Do you see that grant money at work anywhere? I dont. TEA AND TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY VOTE THE BUMS OUT!

Why dont this woman go and get a real job, instead of finding ways to sue someone.
They settle because they can offer her $50,000 to go away or spend $100,000 on fighting the law suit, either way they are out money and she is not.
She needs to be run out of this county.!!

"Why dont this woman go and get a real job" -
she has one, unlike many who don't and live off the $y$tem.

"instead of finding ways to sue someone."
why doesn't the city and county follow the laws?

"They settle because they can offer her $50,000 to go away"
50k is probably low on the settlements. they settle because they're likely guilty and don't want to pay more.

"either way they are out money and she is not."
she's possibly out her and our lawyer fees if she loses.
makes it appear she had pretty good cases to be gambling on and we are scared of a judge and verdict.

she didnt win, she setteled, if she knew she was right why didnt she keep going and get more money when she won, she wont she wants settlement money. she setteled because she knew they didnt want to be out money on attorneys and it's cheaper to pay her and walk away. she knows the system.
read the suit, none of them involved are allowed to discuss anything about the cases once it is setteled.
but one day she will do this to the wrong person.

"exsponged...she has a drug felony on her record"

that someone illegally unsealed and distributed.

"she filled in a ditch on her property which now caues flooding to her neighbors"

when and where?

"she sued as descrimination because she's female"

did scott not make a statement about females being unqualified for fireman jobs? duh.

"he get a pecentage of the settlement"

is her lawyer male or female?

"whatever to benefit her.!"

and see that civil rights laws are used and followed.

Governments and entities often increase the velosity and depth of flood waters on adjacent lands when they install drainage ditches, culverts, levees or dams, even roads and bridges, houses and other structures. Virtually all grading or fills may temporarily increase flood heights and velocities on other lands, opening the door to many lawsuits. Does our county have this problem with 5 rivers? Has the landscape here changed and do we have more flooding each year? There should be many hundreds of application for permits on record at the Court house with all the activities and development done in this county over my long life time. Is everyone getting a permit and completeing that application? Why is the current case not a civil matter? Why is it going to Federal Court again? Why did the Corp of Engineers scold the County for poor Levee work and where is all the grant money going for these projects to prevent flooding hazards, Enforce regulation.? Is the county enforcing the Flood Plain regulations on everyone that has done a activity in the city or County? Face it folks, We need leadership and good management in our community. Its very very poor. VOTE THE BUMS OUT! TEA

I opine its not the flooding most likely but since its against Randolph Co and Flood plain adm. must be some type of negligence on their part "Alledgedly" Suit states retaliation so there could be some more "different treatment" The girl sure has had her share of hate for facing the GOBs. Cant wait to read the facts in the end. I am still looking for hate toward the man who has also filed a fed. lawsuit against the city. Where is hate for that money grubber? TEA

The Bowers couple is facing same thing ...Grider is on edge of another lawsuit, along side the County case and the city case. Hes doing super damage control for both entities. Where is hate for the other lawsuits been filed in our Community? Becoming a pattern and practice. VOTE THE BUMS OUT!

When you live in the city limits there are certain requirements for you to maintain your property. If you don't want to deal with those then you should live in the county. That to me is an advantage of living in the city. Condemnation is a often used tool in cities all over the country. As you said "taking WITHOUT justification" is prohibited. There is justification on dilapidated houses that are about to fall in on themselves. What is the value of the buildings, anyway? If he was willing to give them away that should tell you!

many find it odd that bowers is somehow at the top of the list and may be the first to officially face a condemnation vote from the council when there are many worse buildings in this town that deserve it more.

it can be secured to legally meet the ordinance and is actively being worked on. many others are not.

apparently it will have to be deemed a nuisance by the council for condemnation. whatever their definition might be, their problem is that there are many worse nuisances in town than bowers property that have not and are not being addressed. it smells.

many can see the personal agenda at work here with the precious pool coming in nearby. to his credit - bowers is now improving his more valuable property as he wishes and is turning it into a nicer area or new business location. might even rent it out to visiting swim teams and tourists, etc. why does city have a problem with that and not all the other nuisances?

speaking of the pool area.
blocking off geneva at marr will be a major screw up and inconvenience to most of the city patrons. it needs looked at again, hard.
if closed, they need to get a turn lane on 67 at Geneva and on 67 at Marr asap before someone gets killed from the increased traffic and wrecks on 67.
Geneva carries a lot of thru traffic that will now be diverted to Marr, along with many of the patrons coming in on Decker, Dalton, and Marr that will now be forced to go around via N Marr to 67.

The council should consider the chance that it appears they would single anyone out over another. Thats illegal. Only takes a lawsuit to be filed to show that and the city has to open the books again and have their policy ripped apart by an opposing attorney, I have no problem when all policy, law and regulations are enforced EQUAL among all individuals. We have had enough incompetance therefore bringing on lawsuits.

Jones had a affidavit filed on her by Joe Grider in this one I found out in District Court. Some details I found out are that a owner of property two lots from hers filed a complaint that a activity Jones did In 2010 putting dirt in a eroded areas caused this Mrs Cathaline Early problems, such as not being able to camp, cook out, or have any access to her property. Joe Grider is representing Cathaline Early on behalf of the County I think. Strange they wait 2 years to complain on Jones. But if Joe Grider is coming after me then I would get a better Lawyer too to help me out, This sounds weird. Are any of the other owners out there being complained on like Darrel Higginbotthem or Crawfords by this Cathaline Early? As far as I know about that place out there no one is prohibited from cooking, camping or fishing unless the river comes out of its banks. hope someone knows more about this one.
