People need to tak a look at this town we have more police and police cars that we could possibley need, look at the expense of the officer his salary, insurance, car, gas, car ins.you are not going to convince me that we cant get along just as well without some of the ppl, on the city payroll the ppl are great employees but the time has come for us to stop wasting money on parks, walking trails,as well as many other things, there has been many dollars spent on beautication projects, yes this money was spent over time but its still money that could have been used more wisely, its time to wake up and be honest with ourselves,we are in decline, yes we still have pop. but no jobs, people have to eat and make a living for their family, living on unemployment is not a way of life that one can rely on or feel like a respectiable person,i urge the city to work hard to get what ever industry they can,and i am not dobuting their efforts, but cutting expenses could reduce water bills or our taxes could be used more wisely,i am not critizing city gov.just pointing out that we need to take what ever options possible to make things better, and make us more efficent.

Sounds to me like you are happy with the taxes that you are paying and this is good, maybe you should chip in a little more, help out the city, but i can assure that most ppl think that the water is higher than it needs to be and most of the ppl here could use the tax break,i did not critize the city, but did make sugestions on how it could save money,by the way i've been paying taxws here longer than you.

might check into what the county taxes and fees are for large scale corporations that may be looking to join the area .. lots of businesses look at location as well but i would think lower taxes and fees and make the place look more transport friendly would help alot... isn't pocahontas supposed to have a bypass or hwy comming through or near the town?

Some cities have factories or businesses that this town dont have, and they get revenue from that, its gone from here,so if you want these things then you will have to find a way to provide the money, ppl pasing through here dont spend much here, there is walmart in everytown now, plus ppl here are spending less money, take a look at walnut Ridge and Hoxie, their not in good financial condition, what would lead you to believe things would be any better here, denighing to truth or sticking your head in the sand wont make it better, very simplely we are in decline,we have survived off of retires, out in the county about as long as we can,but that wont put jobs here and that is what it take to survive,i dont see any new business going in here, and it would be hard to replace the jos lost in the last few years, just sit in the boiling water a while longer, but it will get hot.

The biggest problem I c here and everywhere else is the prices it cost to maintain everything and to buy what u need mainly cause of the higher gas prices so it cost more to deliver what is needed so the price increase is passed on to the consumer but no wage increase is given to the workers

The best way to deal with this is just go in and tell your employer you need more money,i'm sure he will understand, most of these ppl in business have plenty of extra money,so let them no you want a little more, but be prepared to hit the road, most of the small co's are sitting on pins and needles at this time and many are thinking of ways to cut cost, most are one way or another anyway, some are cutting back is size, now Obama will help you, maybe out.

Surely you dont want to give a coporation a tax break - remember the evil corporations that refuse to pay you a fair wage. Besides you are a big Democrat and you seem to think that spending $$ on crap like this is good for the country. Oh - I forgot you dont pay taxes so it doesnt matter to you

If you folks want to talk about waste how bout the Upshaw cabin and Looney Tavern - who wrote the grant and how much did the get for writing it ?
