It all depends on how much the kids apply themselves to there education n how much the parents r involved, and as far as the other countries I dnt have a clue maybe cause they go all year around or they r locked n class rooms all time instead of bein a kid, and the sports n schools do help themselves like the money they take at gate for people to get in, and when the teams travel they eat in our town buy gas here but no matter it is what it is

When I played sports n school u had to have a c average to play n that's the way it was n as far as who gets paid more, coaches dnt only coach they also teach n they dnt make much for coaching, and I didn't say anything bout playing sports for a living, but most of ur college athletes get a 4 yr degree, and I pay taxes so part of my money goes for that just like it does for some of these lazy ass people who r able to wrk but dnt , and if my kids dnt make the grades they dnt play n the community sports either, and if ur kid is not playing sports then they should have plenty of time to earn that academic scholarship n if a sports scholarship get a kid to college and they get a college degree great for them, its all bout how hard u wanna wrk to earn ur grades, sports dnt have Shit to do with it, but I'm not gonna deny my kids the joy of sports if they choose to participate n them but the will earn the privilege to keep playing and good grades is one of the conditions
I dont know where you went to school but like i stated in my first post coaches make at least 50% more and twice what the other teachers earn,i suggest you ck to see how much the coaches are earning before you say that they aren't earning much,of course that was by me considered to what other teachers earned, but before you make a statment you need to know for sure, each school is different, this is public info at the court house but you are admiting that you dont know how much that is,you speak of scolarships, again where do you think scolarships come from, the tax payer, who else would be giving these scolarships, yes it comes through the schools but its the goverment paying just as your coaches are being paid,a portion of the money that schools get comes from the goverment,i did not suggest you denigh your children sports, even at school, what i did say is sports needs to be out of schools and how many scolarships do you think that much money would provide,a lot more than are being given to students now,but think of how much money could be saved, now i can tell by what you have posted you aren't liking the idea of sports being out of schools and regardless of how much it would help ed.or how much money would be saved, how many more teachers could be hired to help children or pay rases for teachers.i can see you aren't paying for this or think its not costing you,its not going to change your mind because you want sports at schools,i knew i wasn't going to change your mind in the first place, nor was i trying but i have made the point i was intending to make, and money wise sports needs to be out of schools,as far as the students, again i feel like i have proven that it would provide more time for academics for the children in schools, its easy to see you are not concerned about the students, because its not what you want, that is not surprizing to me at all.

you're 100% wrong!! at Pocahontas, you don't make the grade, you don't play regardless how good you are. That is a fact. But they will furnish a tutor free of charge to anyone, athlete or not, that needs one.

I love sports I'm 36 n I still play sports, I assume I've been paying for same things with my taxes for many years and I've survived so it doesn't bother me to keep paying for them especially if has to do for something for the kids n any form or fashion, I dnt c how sports is holding the kids back cause if they apply themselves most of the time they have good grades but some dnt that's called life and thank u clansix u r absolutely right they do provide free tutoring for students that need it.

<quoted text>Not bad,but the same rules could apply for a community team,or you as a parent you can enforce the same rule, your child could get a better education if sports were not in school, think of how many more teachers we could have helping your child be on the honor roll,i would guess well over a million dollars a year is spent in pocahontas school for sports, what would be wrong with that, and what percentage of that money is spent on what percentage of the students, how many students and how many in sports and why are coaches paid twice as much as the other teachers, wasted money, its not fair, think of the money the district could use on other things and the tax payers could save a lot of money,of course you dont think its costing you anything, wrong, where do you think this money comes from?Your pocket you just dont know it.
Sports,i read a lot of hoopla but no one answer your post they only wanted to change the subject, and of course you can expect this from most of the people because it has be the norm for many years, but i agree with you sports is not for the children its for the school being represented, its why we spend 50% of the schools budget on sports, schools are putting more emphasis on sports than all other subjects togather, why, this is where the support come from in the community,it makes moms and dads happy to see their child play, and be part of the team, yes they could get the same enjoyment out of sports if it was a community org.with 10% of the cost, infact Canada does not even pay coaches, but lets face it we feel that we are special if its in the schools, people want their schools represented by sports and schools want the same, but really the students are the ones being used in the situtation, yes if we put as much money into academics as we do sports our children would much better prepared for colledge and many more would go to colledge and yes in my opinion our children would get a better education, but as you posted thats not what we want, little BILL will be ok,he can learn at colledge.

Your post has nothing to do with sports being a community org.and the money spent by schools, spent equally on each student, why would any district spend 50% of its money on sports, and 50% on academics, aren't at least 80% of the students in your scool getting much less money spent on them, just to satisfy you as a parent, knock off the bull shat and answer my post, with honesty.

They play community sports every summer n winter here, n my kids dnt play sports, does it bother me, nope, is anything gonna change, nope, n life is not fair it is what is and its how it has always been and how its gonna b, plus the kids that play the sports enjoy them, maybe u should complain to the board of education instead of the board of topix and ur forum said sports in schools not sports in community so y would I comment on sports in community we have that here in pocahontas believe cause I coached baseball for 9 years n soccer for 2 years n basketball for 3 years in the community sports and did it all for the kids, my kids make good grades cause they apply themselves at school n at home not because the school gets this amount of money for sports or education its because that's what the KIDS WANT

Why dont you read the orginal post it clearly states that if you take sports out of schools and make it a community org.that the students would get a better education, this was what i posted and its what i believe, its just my opinion,i gave you the reason why i believed this,if you can coach as much for the community games as you say what would be wrong with it being used all the time, you make my case on the financial end and fairness to all students, and dont be surprized if i do write a letter to the State ED. dept.i know Tom Kimbrel he is head of the state ed dept.and have known him for many years, and by the way i do agree that it is this way for now,but that does not mean that it will always be this way,and where does the school get this money for sports, and do you always give your kids everything they want,i'm sure children want many things but it would be impossible to give them everything they wanted.

No I make them earn it and I give my kids what I think they need and deserve, ok so what if the community sports already exist, which they do, why dnt u just say that the kids need to eat, sleep, and Shit academics take all the joys and they like to do and keep them from being a kid, and last thing that I was aware of is that the practices and the games was an after school activity except during a free period, so doesn't interfere with actual learning time and if they do have tutoring before and after school for those who need it and any activity that is done that's in the ball fields or community center is paid for by tax payers also to some extent, and u need to understand if the schools did not spend a penny on sports and put it all in academics, the kids that wants to learn would take advantage of it and the ones that dnt want to would not do a thing to learn anymore, its not the quantity its the quality, its how u spend the time and money u got
