Ok so enlighten me...if promed has expert and compassionate employees then what's the problem???? All you have done is run this whole topic into the ground with your constant whining about the council. If things had went your way the council would be heroes but since it didn't here you are again whining and crying about it. If u feel that promed a employees are expert and compassionate then you should be happy that you have those types of people just like
medic one has to serve you in an emergency!!!!
If things had "went" my way, I would continue to believe that most members of the council are nothing but politiical, scheming hacks. They know the reality of the situation, and continue to use their power to obscure the facts from the voters.
Whining? You use that term with contempt, you fall right in line with the council's attitude towards the voters. I expected nothing different.

Both bids were better than what we had before a franchise. That proves the value of a franchise in my book.
you need a new non-socialist book.
guaranteed and protected monopolies are of little value in my book of freedom.
most of the voters wanted freedom and a lot of our local democracy was set back because of their stupid personal agenda.

plain and simple - the city council just pissed on us.
screw em and anything this bunch wants from us in the future.

sad day for our so called leadership of this town.
they will regret it.

What happened the other night at the City Council
meeting is just another example of how our local
government views the people of Pocahontas. What we
need or want does not matter. They have ther own
agenda and they made that point perfectly clear
from the beginning. The only difference is that
the citizens of Pocahontas took a stand and
united together. The local government of this town
are not used to having their authority questioned.
Granted, the ballot was voted on and the voters
clearly told the Mayor and City Council members
what they wanted, but true to form they did what
wanted to do. It was a slap in the face to the
people of this town. "The Good Ole Boys" once
again have proven the only time they want to
hear from the voters is at election time.

I have noticed that ProMed only runs 2 trucks not 3 as the City Council wanted. As I understand the issue, the franchise was to get an ambulance service that would provide 3 trucks to cover the city and county. So therefore, ProMed did not provide all the services that were to be included in the bid for the franchise. For the past while we have had 2 ProMed trucks and 1 Medic One truck working in the city and county, and still there are times that another service from out of town has had to provide service here. So it seems that there is enough business for 2 companies to operate in the city and county. The rotation schedule works for wreckers services, so why can it not work for ambulances?

because 5 ignorant dumbazzes won't use common sense and want it their way instead of the voters way.

we have no freedom to make our own choice because of them and they ran a good service off because of personal agenda. funny how seemed to work fine these last 2 months with free competition running in violation of their ordinance. will the franchise regs be met if med one stays and runs the county and non emergency runs? have to wonder about that. monopolies with no competition also raise rates and nothing can be done about it. why not have a non-sole franchise with minimum of maybe 2 trucks like jonesboro and other places?

would be interesting if someone pulled pro meds specs and results since they got the original franchise. wonder if it was up to par on what the city and they signed up for? why did we need and have other services trucks running here?

which unelected person?

imo - pro med will lose money meeting the franchise specs if med one runs the county.

might be wrong but i don't think the county will allow them to run the county. good question to ask all the JPS at their meeting.

i don't like to put peoples name on here who are not paid with tax payers money even if in my opinion he must have had an agenda and only a handful of people even knew at the time, more should know hopeful they will. might change some peoples minds next time they go to the polls.

It is about time the people who were elected to
represent the citizens of Pocahontas were held
accountable for their actions. They are so used
running the show. They think the people of
Pocahontas are not very smart and are not capable
of making an intelligent decision. Maybe a RECALL
would get their attention. Remember if the average
individual is not doing their job they are
usually fired. A RECALl OR VOTING them out of
office at the next election would get their
attention.

county hasn't stopped them before and has no law governing it.
and contrary to olvey claim - the county didn't officially support the city ordinances.

if they want to get involved, maybe they should permit medic one and ban promed. why not?

Ken at ProMed says he now wants a "citizens advisory panel"... But he was against the Independent EMS Board, which is the same thing. The council tossed the EMS board idea in the trash. What do you think they will do now that it is Ken's idea?

slap the erc and council around a little bit til they wake up.
DO THE REFERENDUM AGAIN!!!.

the vote will be more on the winning side again. more folks are fed up with the council now for ignoring the winning vote.

if the city pulls their no vote on administrative ordinance bs - make em pay.

also might be worth it to have a lawyer look at whether the city can redo the folks vote as soon as they did. our veto vote ought to last more than 2 months.

if the anti franchise group needs money - just ask.

hard to tell with this bunch since they falsely pperceive themselves as wise.
they just gave a voted loser a 5 yr sole franchise contract.

probably side again with the voted loser and go pull their fake tabled and trashed idea back to life. doubt they will share power with the county and can always call the board uninformed and over-ride them just like they did the voters. can a city board have non residents on it?

question is - who would want to work and serve on a board for this council anyway, besides buddies, yes men, and token friends?. honest and good board folks will get tired of their time, work, input, and recommendations being routinely put down and ignored.

I wish i was there, had to work at second shift. My sister said, that Keith was the one voted with an abstain vote. Because he was wanting both to share the franchise together and do the rotation as in the past. Before Keith even could make a motion to share the franchise one of the members said, make a motion to give the franchise to Pro-Med. Wow! Look like minds were already made up....Keith was the only one who seen that it was 6 total ambulances that would had be total ambulances ran in the City and County. My hat goes off to you Keith! jim

You best put your hat back on... Wayne Broadway is the only one that abstained and city reccords will confirm that. Wayne listened to his constituents... The others including Keith chery picked their information. Basically, if you don't agree with them, you don't exist. And that's how they claim they have the support of the community.
