<quoted text>someone is giving false info then, cause I was told you have to pay for the classes, doesn't matter.......just my opinion & everyone has one.the money spent to build that waste of time, plus the money spent to fix it after the flood could have went to the needy, jobs, food bank etc. I read in the paper about the million dollar grant before it was built think the same now as I did then........this county is not & will not ever be a tourist attraction, theater or no, there is nothing here for the children, nothing to do.fast food, banks & churchs. There needs to be a place for addtics to get help, battered women....nope million dollars on a dinner theater.....go figure
yes you have to pay for the classes..but you do t have to take the classes to be in a play if you audition and get picked....i never took a class and know many that did not either!

I've been with that theatre for nearly 20 years. You don't have to take a class in order to be in one of the plays, you just have to audition. They actually have two separate operations and therefore two separate production lines. The Studio for the Arts is where you'd take a class, and yes you'd have to pay for that. They do a separate production or several productions depending on what each class has been doing. Some of the roles for those plays also require an audition depending on what they are doing, drama class for instance will require auditions as part of the learning and casting process. The Imperial Dinner Theatre has its own productions and those roles require an audition, but you are not required to take or pay for a class. In fact, those who have earned parts and been accepted as a Studio Player can take their classes for free. So you can actually audition for a part and end up with free classes.

As for the homo/lesbo allegations, I'm sure that there have been people like that at the theatre but everyone is accepted there based on their desire to learn fine arts and not their sexual orientation.

Did you know that Andee started teaching dance classes in a garage? She had only three or four students then. I think it's inspiring that she was able to take that small home business and build it into something greater. I personally am thankful that the community has a place for the kids to go to learn something after school instead of running the streets. Many of them are so comfortable and happy spending their time there, they consider it to be a second home and their peers are like a larger family.

All of Mr Grooms classes are not required to attend the plays. I don't know who started that but it is untrue. The only class that has to attend the play is the Fine Arts Theater class and that is in order to do your essay
So you do have to pay

Don't you love it when they finally admit the truth ?
So you must attend the Fine Arts Theater class
which costs money and time , that doesn't guarantee that you will have an acting role in a production.

I have never paid to be in a show. The class which you speak of is part of the general education requirement at BRTC. I have never been in a show that any person paid to be in. The time and work that goes into a production is demanding. If anything I have profited from performing when there was a touring company.

No, what the poster stated is that BRTC students who take Mr. Grooms' Fine Arts Theater class are required to SEE a live production. As a student in this class, I can assure you that Mr. Grooms makes it CLEAR that we are NOT required to see a show at the Imperial, we are free to see any live production we wish, then do a paper about it for our end grade. The Fine Arts Theater class has absolutely NOTHING to do with getting a role in an Imperial production. It is one of the choices of FIne Arts classes, along with Fine Arts Visual and Fine Arts Music, that a stident can choose to complete their Associates degree. You should perhaps know even a little bit about a subject before making yourself look like an ignorant jackass on topix.

You could essentially fly to New York and watch a Broadway play, then fly back and write your essay. Or drive to Jonesboro or Paragould and watch one of their stage plays. I think most people just go to the Imperial because it's close by and they are helping to support a local business by going there.

But basically a) no, you don't have to pay to be in a show, you just have to audition, b) the only classes that are paid for are the ones taken at the Studio for the Arts, c) the paid-for class referred to as "Fine Arts Theater" is associated with Black River Tech and is in no way affiliated with the Studio for the Arts or the Imperial Dinner Theatre, aside from the fact that the professor of the class happens to work there but then he also worked at Pizza Hut in his youth, and d) if you don't like the Imperial there are plenty of other places to go for entertainment. The Foundation of Arts in Jonesboro and the Collins Theater in Paragould are just two other places that offer a chance to audition for roles in a live theater production.

I was surprised to hear they're letting J.R. Briggs be part of another show with all of those young girls there. I hope Andee has some common sense and changes her mind when she sees what his wife has on him.
Big deal are you trying to say she is better than J.R.are you saying she didn't know him before they were married,i think hes a great person,i must admit i dont know her, but she has the same responsibilty he does, what goes around comes around,it would be my guess that she was not a peach to start with, and from what i have read she is not miss innocent, there will come a time when she will wish she had tried to make it work, she most likely have the same problem again, will she be such a perfect person then, not saying J is a perfect person but she knew that before she said i do.

Actually JR was a completely different person before she said "I do." He manipulated her into thinking that he actually cared. No, she isn't perfect but she's never done anything to him to deserve the abuse she suffered at his hands. The fact that she's doing everything she can to protect her child from the man who constantly threatened to kill the baby makes me think that, yes, she is better than he is. I know both of them extremely well. I suggest you not make assumptions based on "what you've read".

Alright, my friend (who just posted above)showed me this. Now, I don't get on topix. I think it was the worst creation ever. People talk about me all the time and I just wave it off because I don't care. obviously it's not worth my time to argue with people over the internet over childish crap. Especially when the people feel the need to hide behind fake names. However, this post bothers me.

Why? Because you've admitted TWICE that you're making assumptions. First you stated that you admit you dont know me. Then you said "from what I've read..." Haven't you ever been told that you shouldn't believe everything you read? Just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's true.

I'm not going into any details about my marriage because it's none of your business. But don't make assumptions about me and say things "based on what you're read". That's childish.

No, I'm not perfect. I never claimed to be perfect. In fact, I didn't say anything so shut up?...That is all.

Why do you consider them freaks? Because they can do things that you can't?

It seems that a lot of their old group are preferring to perform somewhere else. I wonder why that is?
