No more taxes... We already have a tax hike July 1st we cannot take another. Retirement town??? Please for the sake of our town vote no. County residents unable to vote but will sure pay if this goes thru. Do the math. We need to vote a tax to get money to get industry into town not a water park that will break us. Does the Chamber director/councilman support this? We have 5 rivers in this county find a place to hit the river, We tote this as one of our biggest attributes to Rand.Co. People complain we can't fin a place to go cause all the people have bought up the property I can bet you some prime property can be bought and a nice swimming beach and park could be built. Offer one of these property owners a million bet you will get a lot of offers to sell. VOTE NO PLEASE we cannot afford this. Get out and vote for the county. Remember July1st state tax increase already. We will force people to go out of town and then they will find their entertainment there too.

vote NO NO upgrade the old pool new bathrooms nice place for parents to sit.
if passed this will be another drain on the tax payers like the hospital. they had to take money from the road dept to fund the hospital. what makes them think the revenue will be there for the upkeep of this complex in five years? water bills will go up again where is the side walks we got a grant for? what about the skateboard park people gave money for? when that one guy has his hands in something money just seems to disappear. wonder why? has our council became corrupt with the company they keep and seem to think he knows all? time for a new council and mayor in my opinion.

Build the water park and the kids will still be fat & lazy. they wont lose any weight swimming. Fat floats they will just bob aroundin the water like a cork and pee in the water. We need jobs for our children make them work and they just might shed some of that excess blubber.

That will be a big plus for the community right there. He constantly attacks out community and publicly wishes for it to die and go away. He obviously got his feelings hurt somehow and hasn't quite been able to get over it. Very sad really. As for you, I am afraid you won't get your favor.

Yes I still own property in the county. However when I visit my property Ill be shure to not spend a dime in the county. And how long till the county justices pass a millage increas to pay for their lack of being able to curb spending and become fiscally responsible. And the last time I looked I still have my first admendment right. Thats the test do you support the rights of thos you disagree with?

Why would we want to pay for something for other peoples kids to use? We don't have any kids to use it and we wouldn't ever use it, it would just be a big waste of our tax money.

A lot of the elderly, fixed income, poor, and working poor are suffering and struggling to make ends meet now, and it's likely to get worse.

Taking another percent from them so kids can be spoiled with excess and luxury in their leisure is wrong.

Many of us have grown up with the smaller pools and were happy to have them. They were, and with the larger newer pool, are now adequate for a town this size. We are not Paragould.

We also got by with one softball field and one baseball field and fewer parks and playgrounds.
Parents and kids should be happy with what the city and others taxes are providing them now - not expecting and demanding so much and then wanting more.

Replace the small old pool only if absolutely needed.
The big pool is newer and hopefully can be fixed if needed.
Do things at minimal expense - not maximum.

For needed funds, tax those that can afford it - with another penny on the hamburger tax.
Also look at raising user fees.
Many of us will never use this new pool and shouldn't have to pay for it for others.

I will vote no and hope others will not raise taxes $7.5 million, and half a million per year forever on everyone. Instead, we should get back to living within our means.

With upkeep and repairs from existing funds, and more hamburger tax, the pools would be adequate.
This town has great schools, parks, and athletic programs to keep kids busy enough.
We don't need a $7.5 million pool complex and half million maintenance tax for a minority of the taxpayers to use.
Times are tough for many and their funds are needed elsewhere. Their money and needs are greater than others recreation.

There is NO way the yearly maintenance would cost 1/2 million a year. This sounds like a way to boost the general fund.
Rumor is the hospital tax does not completely go to the hospital. You hear all kinds of rumors but if this it true then someone needs to answer for it.

the people were misled on the hospital tax.

if the editor is correct this week, it was a revision of the 1999 3/4% economic dev tax (1/2 roads and sidewalks, 1/2 econ dev) tax. it was raised to 1%. claimed the addn 1/4 was for hosp and remaining 3/4 is for roads/econ dev as was.

also claims that bond folks think it will take BOTH 1/2 cent taxes to make bond payments in 10 -12 yrs.

confused or my math is off or our interst seems high.
if 1% brings in 1 mil+/yr, why does it take 10 to 12 yrs to pay
off $7.5 mil?

anyone know exactly what the 1% hosp/econ dev tax is bringing in/yr?

will we spend the entire 2 1/2's on the bonds?
when is the hamburger tax going away that funds current operations?

Some people are misinformed thinking they are paying less when trading a 2% hamburger tax for a 1% sales tax. The sales tax is on all purchases in Pocahontas, not just on food at McDonalds or Burger King. The city is misleading voters and some people are falling for it. This tax will cost the people in Randolph County terribly and businesses will suffer as a result. People will go out of town to buy to save money.

For our county, vote no for this tax.

I will gladly pay a few more $ for this project. The plan calls for an indoor pool. That means year round access. Water aerobics, classes for arthritis suffers, a possible joint effort with the hospital to help diabetes patients exercise. This project isn't just for the kids.
It s cheap to get into the paragould facility. We spend more in gas than we do in admission.
If you think the current pool can be rehabbed then you need to gets copy of the health department report. That is eye opening!!

Why wait until it passes? Start today. Boycott all buisness in Randolph County. Its easy now with the good 4 lane road to take you away to where the grass is greener. Dont let the GOBS have your money! Starve the Beast! Im proud to state Ive not spent a dime other than my real estate taxes in Randolph county for over a year.

Nick did the crime and did the time but did this guy get off without even paying back the $$ that was taken?
Or is this some other guy with a similar name and as the city Attorney he is really up standing and honest.
After all we all know that there never ever has been any corruption by officials in Randolph county.
Correct, Never been any corruption of our elected officials, Never been any lawsuits for Violation of state and Federal laws. Pay attention to the same elected officials Joe Grider for instance that is trying to make a individual get a permit for filling a hole with dirt. He bullied someone . He filed a criminal affidavit on someone. He falsely charged someone with violating a flood plain ordinance. Its criminal to falsely accuse someone without proof. Shame on him. Does anyone even know that the City Attny is yet again in another conflict for falsely accusing someone of violating a Dam Flood Plain ordiance. They will do anything for money and power. TEA
