didn't we or council pass a percent of a tax for that and sidewalks and economic development once?
intended use of tax dollars and council spending priorities the same?

Well at least its something new and entertaining. This town is stagnant and needs new revenue. Anything would be better. I'm voting yes.

vote NO on the water park. it will get torn down when the mayor gets pissed off like he did and he had the skateboard park torn down
The only reason he got mad about the skateboard park, was because idiots vandalized it all! I say yes. We need something in this town.

I will boycott if this tax passes but there are a few areas I cannot boycott. The city will get their money on my utility bills. What about when I buy a car?

Churmudgeon, do us all a favor and boycott everything to do with Pocahontas including its topix page. No one here or anywhere else could give a shit what you think in the first place. You don't live here so move on and get a life. It is pretty sad that all you have to do is troll around here being negative.

NOT new and entertaining for a VAST MAJORITY of the taxpayers.

revenue will be very very small compared to the COSTS of $7.5 million and half million/yr forever.

when you're in a hole, stop digging.
when you're broke, stop spending

this project IS NOT a wise use of our tax $$.

per the confused/ing editor claims("To build the pool requires a one cent sales tax to pay for construction") and the published election proclamation - can someone tell me if both of the 1/2 cent taxes might be used to pay of the bonds?

this would pay them off much quicker, but what about existing park maintenance?

if done this way, will the hamburger tax be left in place for parks/maintenance?

per the proclamation - looks like the council is hoping to still build the project if the "general tax" is approved and the bonds and "bond tax" are rejected. am i correct?

if done this way, will the hamburger tax be left in place as is for parks/maintenance?

scary thought - if defeated - will the council still build this monster out of existing funds as the city suffers in other areas?

scary thought #2 - election chair married to an admitted pro tax supporter. needs to excuse herself?

VOTE NO, TWICE! hope they count, and that the council will listen.

few more -
how much does 1 cent tax currently bring in?
how much interest and fees will we be paying?
is it 10 or 12 yrs if collections remain stable?
more and longer if the economy tanks?
why $7.5 mil when the builder says $6.5 mil?
what are the million dollar add-ons coming?

"These taxes" for the water park won't affect him. They are a sales tax not a property tax. If he hates Pocahontas and Randolpj county he should just sell the land and never come back. That will be a big plus for the community right there. He constantly attacks out community and publicly wishes for it to die and go away. He obviously got his feelings hurt somehow and hasn't quite been able to get over it. Very sad really. As for you, I am afraid you won't get your favor.

We NEED jobs, not a water park, Sams Club wanted to build here a few years ago, they were turned down and went to Searcy. That would have provided GOOD jobs for the people here, the good ol boys club didn't want it,so we didn't get it.

<quoted text> Isn't the city attorney the main sponsor for this pool?
Is he the same guy who allegedly stole money from child support payments like Nick Wilson did?
Nick did the crime and did the time but did this guy get off without even paying back the $$ that was taken?
Or is this some other guy with a similar name and as the city Attorney he is really up standing and honest.
After all we all know that there never ever has been any corruption by officials in Randolph county.
Oh yes and he has targeted that Jones Lady again too with Criminal Affidavits Hand delivered that are already proven to be FALSE. Can one file FALSE affidavits without recourse??? Probally in this town, but suspect the False Affidavit is already going to cost the taxpayers yet again in litigation that is full steam ahead .Who else has this man sent false affidavits too over the years and got away with it. I hope the people will get a clue soon and take action vs just sit on thier thumb and say Hmmmm.

how much do we pay him for all his legal advise and actions?

is it just a set salary/amount for all his legal work for the city?
what about secretary and time, all the paperwork, and filng and court expenses?
and the other costs for settlements, lost cases, and the winning lawyer fees.

would be interesting to know what the public notices/proclamations and special election fees, etc, will cost us for this pool vote.

how much has the council cost us.
architects, planners, and bond people working for free?
are we paying the council extra for any special meetings/events?

imo, lot of money, meetings, and time wasted by our city officals, not that their time is worth much, if anything.

We need decent jobs here, that should take priority over entertainment for your kids, without jobs people can't afford to let their kids do anything anyway. The majority of the people DO NOT want the water park. They can upgrade the city pool.

7.5 mil and another half mil forever of OUR money for a few hundred bored youth IS NEGATIVE.
JUST SAY NO!

use what we have, or at least spend much less.
WE owe no one the BEST and EVERYTHING they WANT!

jr is bored and wants a bowling alley, skating rink, go carts, bouncy rooms, etc. etc, so he can play.

let's just make it a dime. build it all,
AND buy em all new cars too! right?
