There are several groups that have been making plans if this passes, one has been making plans to boycott the stores by buying elsewhere. This pool will complete the town by making it a total welfare town, who do you think will pay for this pool? Not the non working class that will be soaking their fat ass in the pool all day.
Once the 4 lane passes this shithole by maybe it will go down in history as Arkansas's highest taxed town, but with a big welfare pool.

Thats a fact Jack! It passed because the welfare class of Poky thinks money falls out of some gaint furry hole and they will continue to be able to breed like rats and live off the government. I can't wait until the day the government goes broke and all these "never worked" trash has to fend for themselves.

Doesn't that attorney have to run for office?
If he does then we all need to do our best to get him defeated.
Also doesn't he get paid by the county?
For all the bad advice he gives out he should be replaced by some one who is at least honest.
I am Not buying anything in this berg any more and other than the crappy electric company and paying my 2 pounds of flesh for property taxes I am shopping else where.
Same distance to Thayer(lower food prices, smaller walmart) shorter distance to West Plains than Jonesboro where everything is about the same except there aren't any gangs in West Plains.
Wish every one the best of luck with the Progress on the pool.

Most of the people who live here are just scraping by, the higher taxes on everything is just going to put an unnecessary strain on them, they will be paying for something that they can't afford to use, I guess their children can play in the creek or the river, This is going to be for the "elite" in Pocahontas who can actually afford to use it.

you are correct. this is an even better reason to shop locally". I mean local like the Dollar stores and feed or hardware stores and restaurants in Imboden and Maynard. Does Reynolds have a Dollar store? Let Pocahontas pay for their pool, put your tax dollars to work in your own community.

Congratulations!!! We are now the highest taxed town in NE Arkansas, even Little Rock. At least our city council and attorney has led us to be number one in something. I'm sure the industries that are knocking down our doors to come into this town will see this (highest taxed town in NE AR) as a real selling point. I guess when they (future businesses) tell our town to go jump in a lake and they are not coming here, we can just go jump in our 7.5 million dollar pool instead.
city attorney 6 council men and mayor and 481 voters just voted for PROGRESS WHEN IS TIM SCOTT GOING TO ANNOUNCE this new business that was waiting to see if this tax passed for the complex before they made their decision to move their company here? city attorney 6 council men and mayor and 481 voters just voted for spend $7.5 million dollars for a luxury for a big minority of the city.
and grabbed 1/2 mil a year for parks and rec.

the poor and fixed income and stuggling who can't afford it will suffer. county also won't appreciate it.

special election likely didn't help get a true measure of the voters feelings on it.
ignorance and laziness and blame is on the no folks for not showing up.

any plans to oppose the results?
recount and double check the correctness of the vote.
still hard to believe that low turnout.
was everything correct on the process and campaign and vote.
possible initiative to have another vote on it?
forcing everyone across the river to one spot needs to be stopped.

how do we check to make sure the cast votes were correctly recorded? how and was it done? where is mic/???/tea guy when we need him?

We need a huge sign at every entrance to Poky showing how high the sales tax is here. If people stop shopping here maybe the GOB's can ante up the extra money they need for their pool.

Our current sales tax rate in the city of Pocahontas is 8.25%. Now it is skyrocketing to 9.75%!!! We have children in Randolph county that do not know if they will have a meal tonight and we just heaped an extra 1.5% of a tax on everything their struggling parents have to buy. Hope you enjoy swimming in your overpriced pool while kids are being punished even more!

Why double or triple check the results or the process?
It's only 7.5 million at stake.
TRUST the process and that city officials did it all right.

Folks never make mistakes or maybe misplace some ballots or program or operate computers wrong.
It's not like there are 50 overseas ballots still coming in or the early voting ballots got misplaced.

Pocahontas probably has an excellent credit rating and a fine record on finances, methods, enacting ordinances, and such. Past, future, and current lawsuits included.

Surely the bonding or insurance companies will check and make sure everything was ok on it. Maybe that's why they have learned to wait a while in case someone checks or protests the results.

Let's think about it... about 20 million in tax revenue collected over twenty years for the pool. Not chump change, is it? Thank goodness I am fortunate to have the convenience of choice whether I buy in Pocahontas, or elsewhere. The not so fortunate are those you deride as on "welfare", those very low income folks who are trapped in town, no means to travel elsewhere. Those poor people will provide a great portion of the pool revenue, you can bet they will be paying that tax a penny at a time. Imagine your old grandmother, digging at the bottom of her purse for that extra penny. Shame on you voters.

we talk about how welfare breeds welfare

what should we call this group of parents and children that expect others to pay for their game of choice?
