I know I'm opening a can, because for every good post on here there will be a hundred negative. But county residents should speak with their quorum court members because rumor is the sheriffs department may lose a deputy. Agree or disagree I don't want to lose ANY patrol. I think most would agree. I hope that citizens will agree and band together and not feud like normal on here

Lose any Patrol?
Since when did we have any patrol to lose?
Generally the rural areas never see a deputy within a year.
Maybe they should deputize the road graders ,since they will at least show up once a year and do some work for the county citizens.

To but our taxes keep rising. The sheriff makes the road deputies fill a daily patrol sheet of where they patrolled for the shift, should be public knowledge if wanted to see them. The sheriff also makes them put a minimum of 3 cards per night on a business or farm equipment. The deputies can't help if their constantly dispatched to the Maynard area, not deputies fault Maynard people can't get along. Deputies are all over the county according to my scanner. Call for a deputy sometime and see how they want to help. Would u put your life in danger for someone else for 25000 a year, I wouldnt

Maynard area??? You must have a strange scanner. Every time I hear a call for a deputy they are in town (Pocahontas) and have to drive 20 miles to a call. Plus they are always together, I say if they have 3 on duty put one towards Ravenden, one out near Maynards-Biggers, and one at Okean. As far as Troopers they are all over during the day however at night, like Friday night they are all off. They work days because they can catch folks going and coming from work because these people can pay their fines. The drunk low lives that run all night won't pay so why catch them? Its all about money and fines.

i lived out on stoney point for a while and saw the sheriff dept out there several times. they have checked to see who i was when i was at my storage unit outside of town. just because you don't see them, doesn't mean that they're not there.no one can watch everything all of the time, including someone as observant as you obviously believe yourself to be.
