Hey, I would do just fine.

I'm one of those Self-Employed "Main Street" Job Creator the G"No"P loves.

Oh, and if you do a bit of research there 'lil darlin' you'll actually find out that Illinois has a higher mimimum wage than Arkansas.

Golly damn, my parents made it possible for me to go to College and graduate, not by paying for my tuition, I paid for my undergraduate degree by working as a house painter, mowing grass, working in a plant that made piano's, a plant that make appliance motors, and as a janitor.

I did take out loans for Loans for Health Care Professionals, which I re-paid for on time and with interest.

Oh and while in school in Chicago, I sanded the student desk, trimmed the shrubs on campus, worked in the library until nine at night after attending classes from 8:00 A.M., during Christmas Break delivering Chicago Phone Books on the South Side with a Wind Chill of 10 below zero, I bet you would love that for 4 years.

Oh, and Mommy and Daddy didn't pay any of my tuition or housing for those years either.

Now, I tell you what, don't you dare lecture me on work ethic.

Oh, and I'll be happy to pay for your rent in a 20'X40' apartment in Chicago south of 25th street if you are even able to get into a school in Chicago that requires a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited American College.

Oh, and my offer stands for "hill billy" and "lol" too.

"tears in my eyes"

No, I'm simply a "job creator" that pays the employees MORE than Illinois' Minimum Wage, which, by the way, is greater then the Federal Government's Minimum Wage Requrement.

Now, should you ever gain some job skill's that are adequate for for the positions available, dress appropriately, and are capable of being on time to perform the required duties, and bring with you the obvious same effervescent personality you demonstrate on this forum, I would certainly hire you!

Nah, you want to work for Donald Trump, I bet.

<quoted text> I know your being sarcastic but its already like what you posted. someone else is already doing those big jobs better for less. of course the big job and cheap less than the minium wage worker is in china or some other place. however the US workforce still must compete with those less than minium wage workers. We will be just as well off to do away with the minium wage. We are now in a global economy and unless we somehow could enforce a global minium wage the minium wage does as much harn as good.
crumudgeon,
If American workers are not making enough in wages
to purchase the product they produce who else in the world can purchase that product?
Let's go back to, I believe it was the mid-'80's when Ford Motors decided to shift all production of the "Thunderbird" to Mexico, to save on the cost of Production.
Humm, How many "Thunderbirds" were sold in Mexico to those workers at that time.
Humm, wasn't that about the same time the Brown Shoe Company moved their manufacturing company out of Pocahontas to where, wasn't it to Mexico?
Yep, those Mexican workers for Brown Shoe Company were all soon, wearing "Wing-Tip Shoes" as they crossed the Rio Grand from Mexico.
Right?
Again, I will use my Dad's example of the "Baker going broke trying to make the hole in the donut bigger.
U.S. manufactures cannot cut their wages lower, i.e. increase corporate profits by cutting wages, and still be able for consumers to afford their product.
Perhaps the American Manufactures should take a lesson from that brilliant inventor and Capitalist Henry Ford, who gave his employees a 40 hour work week, and paid them a wage where they could purchase the cars they made.
How smart was that plan?

henry ford was in a unique positiom. His assembly line enabled him to mass produce when nobody else could. Amd right now today the prison labor is much less than the minium wage. Ok how about this how many employees of Boieng aircraft could purchase the product they built? And not only ford employees could afford the product they built. I know lots of folks who bought a new car every year or two back in the sixties.the thing is the USA was in a unique one time in the history of the world anomaly. We avoided conflict on US soil during WWII. Europe was bombed out. The US had the factories the labor force, natural resources ect. We became the worlds producer. If someone wanted something built the came to the USA to buy it. for a few decades we enjoyed a middle class prosperity. then came the fake gas shortage in the mid 70,s. suddenly nobody wanted to buy the gas guzzling us made cars. The imports gained a foot hold. And they where tough durable ecomomical vehicles. The US car makers tried to compete with things like chevetts vegas & pintos. they where junk shoddy cars. So the us started losing ground. Nafta free trade EPA laws & high production cost. made it desirable to move where production is cheaper. those who didnt lower production cost went broke. We no longer have American motors. International harvester is gone. Maytag is gone. Mattell the toy makers is gone. Raising the minium wage wont help. It just causes inflation. Until the cost of production in all those other places comes up and the cost of production in the USA goes down to where its a level playing field the USA cannott compete. Raising the minium wage will only cause more job loss. you correct in your statement That If American workers are not making enough in wages to purchase the product they produce Who else in the world can purchase that product? the answer is hardly anyone. sadly the USA is indecline. We are spending ourselves into debt & poverty. We are fast becomig a third world nation. The USA is a poor nation deep in debt & bankrupt. The whole world is on the verge of economic collapse. Within the next 10 years we will be living a 1800,s existance & lifestyle. Raising the minium wage wouldnt chang that fact.

The cost of living would increase regardless of who gets a raise, but when everyone else gets a raise and minumum wage earners don't, it just pushes minumum wage earners farther behind. I wonder how much more they can stand.

If minumum wage is increased to $9.00 per/hr, this will be an extra $70.00 per week that will go into circulation, and that will increase supply and demand, witch means more jobs.

We freely give big raises to people who don't need it, which greatly increases the cost of living, but refuse to give small raises to people who do need it, which raises the cost of living very little. This widens the gap between the the rich and poor.

One of the problems is the biggest companies in America are paying their top people way too much, even the ones that ran a company into the ground get a huge raise. America is just a few years behind the countries in the Euro zone that are failing. We are a debtor nation that has allowed too many jobs to leave and too many illegals to enter to become a burden on the taxpayers that are left. When Henry Ford was making his move America was still forming as a world leader, our peak was reached and we are going down hill, there is very little we can do about it. The "job creators" are working over seas not here in the USA.

One of the main problems is the value of the dollar is slipping downward. The fact the government is printing dollars like it was toilet paper does not help our problem. As long as our debt is being kicked down the road and not dealt with our economy will never improve. The dollar is backed by the promise of the US government (which this alone ought to scare folks to death) and at the rate the keep printing the value will only go down and this makes the cost of good seem higher. If we as a citizen took say a 10 dollar bill and used a majic marker to add another zero to the ten people would laugh, however this is what the government is doing by printing more dollars without anything solid backing them

"yogibear"

Really?

You are unwilling or unable to increase your employee's wages.

What is the minimum Federal Wage presently? I know the minimum wage has been $8.25/hour in Illinois for a quite a while. I also do not know of one business that closed due to that minimum wage, and even better news, one of our present business is going to be hiring 200 new employees, and believe me like all towns we need those jobs to.

I your business can't afford to increase those wage increases for your "small business" what are your plans when you close?
