This is true, but we could freeze the wages to government employs, and give that raise to minimum wage employs, and the results would be the same. The government employs would still be making twice or three times as much at $9.00 per hr. not counting benifets.....LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!!
People like you aren't wirth the minimum wage,a person that works can be wirth twice that much, but i would not hire you for 3 dollars an hour, and my guess is you dont even have a job and most likely aren't looking for one.

How many of you who constantly bitch about the rich and blame the Bushs have ever applied for a high paying good job. There aren't many unfilled good jobs here so you have to try elsewhere. You can't be a pothead. You can't have tattoos of your demons crawling up your neck and you have to show up every day sober and try hard to make something. You don't have to be a genius. You just have to try and show up every day when you are supposed to and be eager to make the boss money. An adult shouldn't even be trying to live on minimum wage.

Who would would live here and be stupid enough to even think anyone is going to pay you any money when ten ppl a day are wanting the every job in town, you cant be that stupid, why on earth would anyone believe that unless they have a degree, and then they would be stupid to live here when the same job will pay twice as much in other places, there are plenty of ppl living on mininum wages,no its no what one needs but it is happening, there are some that dont try to keep up with the other ppl,yes they live very close but it is being done.

should the minimum wage be increased from $7.25 to $9.00 per hour, and how would it effect the economy.
I suggest it be raised to $9.00 for working American citizens, but be reduced for all elected officials city, state and federal to $7.25/hr.

Oh, and all of those working American citizens should only receive the same pension plan, Social Security, and the same Health Care plan, as ALL elected officials.

The Waltons could also say, "Hey, we have enough money. Lets just close down the WalMart corporation, live comfortably on what we already have and end this headache." Would you feel better then?
Then maybe some of the smaller stores will come back. Doesn't anyone remember all the 'mom and pop' stores and all the stores downtown? You could buy a nice suit in at least three different stores in Pocahontas. You don't think we would be better off if several businesses were making money instead of just Walmart?

I could follow your logic and demand that wages be lowered, so prices would go down and jobs would be created?
Everyone thinks they have the answer, but they produce nothing but cliche talking points. And fiscal conservatives are the worst.
Great point 'raise you'. Give everyone a pay cut and presto, no more unemployment? Less money circulating, less money to spend but more money for the wealthy equals more jobs? Why would they invest in more production if no one has any money to spend? Raising minimum wage will help to get more money circulating and in the long run, more money for the business owners.

Yes because raising wages has obviously worked in the past. I mean look at how the workers in the auto plants got raises and the cost of vehicles dropped. Wait that never happened.

I remember in the 70's when minimum wage was under $2.00 hr. There was plenty of unemployment then. If you want to be honest, the auto workers have taken pay cuts over the last several years and some companies have opened plants in the south where the labor is much cheaper. The price of vehicles have still gone up.
