city still seems to have their power grab and anti medic one agenda. now wants to rebid and probably put promed in again.
medic one will have to do another petition.
city will claim it can't be voted by referendum from the people this time as it is an administrative ordinance.
citing some obscure past zoning case law ruling is likely a weak threat and bluff.
bluffing will get some lawyers, judge, and $$$ involved.
also cost of a special election.
voters shave spoken.
time for city offcials to grow up and listen. voters don't like being pissed on.
good luck with that upcoming 6 mil pool project vote.
Grider and Council are grasping at straws with the administrative ordinance reasoning and the rebid to save their un-needed franchise. They should be ashamed of their actions.

I have lost what little respect i had for all of them. Mainly for their original rush and now continued push of the franchise after the vote. Especially the mayor and our expected senior leadership of the council who have failed us.

A judge needs to slap "our" city officials for bluffing voters and doing the same ordinance so soon after voters have spoken on the issue.

what do expect from these people? you know they are not ever going to listen to the voters.
It's time to consider a recall of some counsel members.

What the city is doing is against Federal Law. Doesn't Mr. Grider understand any of the law?
Didn't he violate the law in the fine tradition of stealing child support payments along with Nick Wilson and Others?
Was he supposed to repay restitution and the gossip was that he never did?
If any of the above is true then why is he allowed to be in a position of public trust?

I heard he admitted that was his mistake at the city council meeting. I would like to see the minutes on the meeting, that would be interesting to publish in the paper. Good luck with that happening though.
If you want to see the minutes, wait until the next council meeting, when they should be approved by the council. Afterwards, they are published on the City website. However, it is unlikely to see a mention of his admission of error. The minutes are usually very concise, and would not typically include such "play by play" commentary.
I understand that a copy of audio from the meeting is available on request.

So is medic one gonna bid on the franchise this time? I sure hope not cuz that would be giving in to the council. If they do the. They will walk right I to the councils trap. I they bid then regardless of the outcome they can't attack it for being unfair or unneeded. Just my 2 cents.

interesting scenarios with possibly a few different outcomes.

very tough decision for a business to make, like the first time.
just how reasonable and profitable are the city's expected demands and specs? are they needed?

have to figure, no matter how good medic one offer is, that their chances are slim of ever being chosen by the council that fired them and is now embarrassed by the vote.

also have to wonder if pro med will apply, what they will offer, and if, when, how the bids will be monitored and enforced.

have sometimes felt medic one could have let pro med have the cadillac bid and then come in and run the county to cut their profit. doubt city would hold pro med to their bid/specs then tho.

council is out there and unpredictable with their agenda and shame. never know how far they will stretch things, bids, specs, etc.= now letting unfranchised services run in the city against their ordinance????

final note -

duh, no one claimed it was unfair the last time.
folks can just have another referendum and defeat the council agenda again.
if the council keeps playing their games, the voters can always go the initiative or recall route if needed.

Erc and council are obviusly biased and still have an agenda.
Silly to expect Medic One to get a fair chance.

The voters have spoken and DO NOT want a franchise.
At the very least, the council should have handed the issue to a county-wide qualified board.

we CAN play the game just as long as the city council can. where are you getting the unconstitutional argument and why are you putting words in our mouth. what exactly is your agenda besides being scared of the voters expressed wishes?

we cared for and about the good service we had. the erc and council are the ones with the agenda and the ones that went nuts messing with it. they have been rebuked by the voters once and it can be done again.

as we just proved with our repeal vote, the constitution IS on our side with referendums, initiatives, and recalls. there can be consequences and corrections made when our officials go awol and screw up. the council is not wise enough to simply repeal their stupid original ordinance and end this. sad for them and will probably get costly for everyone if they keep it up.

i see u defeated and owned with no good reasoning or counter arguments. the people have voted on it. it was defeated. what part of NO! doesn't the council understand!

ur as weak as jg's bs bluff that a referendum can't be voted on for an alledged admin ordinance.

will be amusing but sad to watch the city council try to explain their needless wasting of our hard a $$$ on a once defeated, unneeded, unnwanted special election and then pay fees for opposing lawyers easy win.

the council could and should of ended this long ago by repealng their stupid original ordinance to franchise.

the voters have spoken and now it's delay and repeat. being pissed and beating the dead horse will not help them, only make them look foolish, AGAIN.

The people pushing that referendum weren't against the franchise we were just against it being given to anyone but medic one. If we were against the franchise we would have done a referendum on the franchise ordinance! Stop trying to confuse the issue with your bullshit.

the original council ordinance was conveniently introduced and passed at one meeting and left little time for opposition. it clearly contained an illegal emergency clause that would have had to been opposed in a certain number of days, and wasn't. the referendum for repeal also contained deadlines. organization, gathering signatures, etc., took time but was finally done against the 2nd ordinance.

imo, you are also very wrong on your first (alledged) "we" opinion.
while i think most of the voters did support medic one and didn't like their treatment at the hands of the council, and the erc agenda, most also opposed the council and their alledged "need" for an exclusive franchise.

Well the only arguments I ever heard from Sonny was for medic one and nothing about a franchise. Just this mans opinion. I don't have anything against a franchise just think it should have been given to medic one the first go around.

I voted against it because I don't want anyone telling me I "HAVE TO" use their amblance service when I prefer another amblance service.
