Reading some of these comments have made me laugh. Vote for who you want but I'm voting for Story. Tim Scott has done nothing for the community. He spends more time working with his own business than that of the city. If you want a repeat of the Crocker era then vote for Scot because that is all you will be getting. Story is young and ready to jump in with both feet and if you do not think Pocahontas needs that then apparently you do not live in the same town as me.

Its too easy to confuse personal business with public duties, even easier to take advantage of the power of public office. There was an article a couple years ago about a quorum court meeting, where the idea was advanced to ban handbills. Fortunately, the idea was nixed. Does anyone have an idea who it was that made the transparent attempt to control or reduce competition by outside advertisers?

Our officials are more concerned about using their position to protect their own assets then to take care of the city as a whole. The city doesn't provide much job wise. It only owns its water works and streets department. Why not try to have their own electric and cable like other towns. There are board members I am sure that would fear the thought of some city owned competition. Instead of a water park how about some water or wind power. How about some place besides Wal Mart to go shop at. That might make for more money staying in the city too. The wealthier just go to Jonesboro to shop but not everyone can do that. We can't even get a Payless Shoes here. How about a movie theater instead of a water park. They operate year round. There is not enough money to be made off tourism to benefit this city. It is time to be more realistic.

I grew up with Kary. He was not a good person then doubt much has really changed. Do not want him running any aspect of my town. He will more concerned about lining his own pockets rather than making community better for all citizens. He just doesn't have selflessness in him. Tim has issues hind sights 20/20 coulda woulda shoulda. But he has given himself to Pocahontas. Elect Tim and then go to city council meetings occasionally to keep them focused on what is important to you and yours. Pocahontas is a beautiful town with good people and wonderful potential. We need business growth, tourism and more medical jobs.

P.S. Keep the town clean, fill the empty shops and mow your yard

Tim Scott and our geriatric council is SCARED of Kary Story because he is a progressive. Let e tell you this. The relcs of our council such as Nap time russel winebaugh who is so old he thinks automobiles re a great new invention and sucks Timys azz like a lollypop. The facts are this . Tim is too invested in business to be effective. There is no way he will be a full time mayor. Joe grider is a crook who actually PAID HIMSELF on the pool deal a consulting fee of several thousand dollars

People in Pocahontas will vote for Tim Scott, even tho he has been on the city council for 27 years and done NOTHING to help this town, and now he is patting himself on the back for the chicken coop, and all the crime they will bring to our city. because their grandparents use to go to Dr Scott and they think that makes sonny boy a good boy. Stupid people of this town deserve what they get and have gotten for the past 50 plus years. The business owners want the town to die and always have. They faught hard to keep IGA out and Sears first store out and now they want to bring in the Mexicans to rent rundown property and deal in drugs.

Tim Scott does have the most experience. Is that a good thing? Let's recap: if we pass the half cent sales tax for the hospital in November, we will be tied for the highest tax rate in the state. Tim voted for the 6 million dollar mud hole that is now an over 8 million dollar mud hole. Tim was originally AGAINST Peco coming to pocahontas until he realized it was going to coincide with his running for mayor. If you want the city to keep going in the same direction it is now, vote for Tim. Tim Scott is a part of the problem. He is a Gary Crocker follower who is why this city is basicly bankrupt. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results= stupidity. It is time for a breath of fresh air. Kary Story is a successful business owner that knows how to operate within a budget. Which is something the present City government can't do. So Kary doesn't have enough experience to be mayor? It is impossible for the city to be in worse shape legally and financially in 4 years than it is today... Unless you elect Tim Scott. I'll take my chances with Mr. Story. I know what I will get with Mr. Scott. More of what I have had... Higher, higher, and higher taxes because of poorer, poorer, and poorer management.

Lets RECAP...
NO, a half cent tax will not put Pocahontas tied for the highest tax rate in the state. Tax rates are available online for anyone to see by county and city. Look it up. Notice you said if WE pass the half cent tax, citizens make this decision, not the CIty council or the HOspital board. City BUDGET has been just fine for the city - Ask Arkansas Legislative Audit - again this information is available online. Look it up. Recap summary - You don't know what your talking about. Just making a noise. I don't care who gets it. But I can't stand people who stir up crap with misinformation.

Who will you vote for in the Mayor's race for Pocahontas? I have been listening to others and the talk going around how Mr. Story feels he is a clear cut winner.
I will vote for a person with experience in city government, the laws, and has a good relationship with other businesses. I will vote for Tim Scott. Say what you want about the GOB talk, we need a Mayor with knowledge on laws and ordinances with Peco coming to town and more industry will likely follow.
I am voting for Tim Scott.
Tim Scott is the LAST thing this town needs for Mayor.

these people that think Peco coming to town is a good thing don't have a clue..they're either really old and just drinking the cool-aid or they're too stupid to comprehend exactly what it's gonna do to this town..having previously lived near a chicken plant I can tell you that you just ruined any chance for tourism, bad for environment, the smell..oh yeah it's coming..and the influx of illegals..if they wasn't coming, why are the officials already making preparations for them..school has to hire Spanish speaking teachers..etc..REALLY BAD decision..no way in hell i'll vote for or re-elect ANYBODY that had anything to do with this DESTRUCTION of Pocahontas

I think we need to elect Mr. Scott. While he is never going to make everyone happy, at least he knows how to run the city. Go ahead and badmouth Crocker, but this city has never failed to pay it's bills yet, which is better than some cities in Arkansas.
Story is talking about making a change. What kind? What is his agenda? Anyone can talk a good game but when it comes own to it can he do the job? I hear Mr. Story is a arrogant person and if he goes in firing people all he will do is get the city council and public mad at him.
