If religion is going to be involved in politics, then churches need to be taxed. You can't claim non-profit status when you want to control American politics, when you are supporting politicians, when you are basically campaigning for the conservative party or tea baggers. It's also time for the hypocrisy of the church in general to be revealed. America is NOT a theocracy and NEVER WILL BE!! FREEDOM OF RELIGION - not FREEDOM OF DENOMINATION!!

churches are more of a charity.
instead, tax all the so called nonprofits that get breaks while competing with for profit businesses.
why do we need and have all these non profits handling govt spending?

look at all the so called non profits eating solely at the govt trough thru grants, medicaid funding, etc. funding and not taxing some and taxing the for profits is stupid and wasteful.

cut govt spending and let the free market take over.

Churches are not a charity, they are a business. The preachers get paid, they should be taxed like everyone else.

As soon as the teacher's unions quit telling teachers how to vote. And this does happen inside of the schools which are federally funded and not supposed to have political affiliations. I think our current president has spoken in front of several church groups. Let me guess though he was not campaigning. LOL. The Black Jesus Obama can do no wrong and if he does then the White House will just silence the press or blame the Republicans. Sequester

most preachers earn their keep and do pay taxes on it. lot of the church income is spent on free services, etc. wouldn't call that a business.
big difference between titheing and donations that churches survive on for charitable works vs running a business that charges for govt spending and not taxing it like a for profit business.

Leave my Churches alone. They are using their own money to build churches and pay my crazy preachers. They are fixin' to start bringing their guns to church and really havin' some fun! You all need to come out and see if you can outdraw the fastest deacon in Pocahontas. I'll be there to make sure the bullet stops right in front of your face. You know this is what I want! Guns in church!!!

All I can think of when I read 'God's post was Red State, the movie with a bunch of crazy corn fed Christians with AKs and machine guns and withdrawing at the sound of a horn thinking it was the rapture.

But I fully agree, CHURCHES NEED TO BE TAXED. If they run around and shove their beliefs down my throat, I'll run around and shove some equality down their throat. I mean, that's what they preach about, right?

Its amazing how much property in Randolph County is tax exempt after being deemed "church" property. A lot of these so called churches have been closed and are now homes but are still tax exempt. Maybe if the tax folks collected taxes right and did their job we would not be facing a increase this year.
If you want to be shocked go down to the tax office and ask how many dollars of real estate is "tax exempt" in this county.
