Can anyone recommend a good general medical doctor in Pocahontas? The one my family has been seeing for the past few years seems to have developed a smart ass attitude problem and has needlessly been rude to my elderly mother on more than one occasion lately, which is totally unacceptable! Please someone recommend a good PROFESSIONAL doctor!

Please tell me what Dr. you are talking about. I want to be sure I don't get him. Thank you. I think every one of the NP's at Poca. Med. Clinic are jokes and rude, they think they are better than anyone else and if I am gonna pay the same for a NP as for the Dr. I am gonna request a Dr. and refuse NP's. Have you noticed that if you have an appt. with a Dr. you will get a NP????

I've seen a NP only once, but knew ahead of time that's who I was gonna see. It seems that lately it takes between one and a half to two weeks to get in to see the doc, whereas it used to take only a couple of days at most. If a person is ill, that's way too long to wait for an appointment. But that isn't my biggest complaint...as I said before the rudeness of this one doc in particular is completely unacceptable. I'd like to find a doc in Pocahontas who isn't in that group, but having lived in this area for less than 10 years, don't really know who to go to.

i understand. i used to work there & i'm sure i know which dr. it is cause it's not just pts. that he is that way with. he is a very good dr. in some areas, just not in the area of manners! i don't think you are gonna find a dr. in poc. if you don't go to that group. but i totally understand. i am gonna try one at nea in jonesboro that i used to see here back when he first started practicing. i like going to the nea drs. due to the fact that there are so many specialists affiliated with them, and all your records are available to all the nea drs as they are all on the same computer system. i wish you luck in finding one. those parents are a precious people, and a child sure doesn't want to see them offended. been there. best to ya.

oh, and some of the np's are really good. cammie sifford is a compassionate, well-educated lady with good manners, from what i have witnessed anyway. i would recommend her. also, ramonda housh is WONDERFUL with peds. she, in my opinion, is as good as any doctor, and better than most!

Thank you so much! I'm curious if the one you speak of is the same one...without saying the name, I'll just say he's a young handsome one.

My family has switched to Dr. Roger Troxel in Walnut Ridge. Love love love him!! He has treated and diagnoised me when all the doctors and NP's here would just give me anti-depressants. Doing so much better now and he actually takes the time to listen to his patients instead of herding you in like cattle.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll mention Dr. Troxel to my parents and hope they'll give him a try.

i don't know what it is that makes people this way. i think that self esteem or confidence in oneself is a very healthy thing. but credentials does not make one a better person. they may be way smarter than me at what they are licensed to do, but let let me tell ya, i'm way more capable of being a mom than he is. it's all in what you do in this life. and treating others with dignity & respect goes a long way. it sure says alot about a person!

LOL! We're talking about the same one huh? It's a shame someone so handsome has to be so rude! My son has sleep apnea and has tried using the CPAP but in his sleep he removes the mask at night. One of the other docs in the same building suggested he duck tape oven mitts on his hands at night so he couldn't remove the cpap mask. Wonderful medical advice...yeah right!

I agree that Dr Dawson is very rude and it seems to be especially so with the elderly patients. My mother has heart disease and on more than one occasion he has been very inconsiderate and rude to her in his treatment. I think he was great when he first came here but just like all the others, after a while, they develop an attitude and I can even understand that after day after day of seeing ppl who bring much of their problems on themselves, getting burned out.
I totally believe I would too. but he signed up for this and it's his job to show compassion and to treat the patient to the best of his ability.
He no longer does that, I would suggest a long vacation to him.
Being in health care, I can relate to the frustrations they see on a day to day basis but he isn't helping anyone including himself with his attitude and demeanor.

I forgot, my suggestion would be Alex Baltz if you prefer to stay in Pocahontas and I agree some of the NP's are okay as well. They really do know just as much as the physicians in most cases and actually have more experience dealing with one on one patients. I like Sandra Green at the Poc Medical Clinic on Betty Drive and Holly Brigance is down to earth if you get to know her and so is Cammie. Ramonda is good too. Otherwise, try Walnut Ridge, Dr Troxel, Dr Diamond, etc.

Thank you so much for saying the words for me!!! You hit the nail on the head EXACTLY!! I'm so glad to know others know exactly what I'm talking about, but at the same time sad to know others have had to experience his rudeness. You said it in words better than I could.

ya my husband had a vasectomy about 8 years ago and went in to see dr D. in the pockey clinic for a low sex drive and this Dr D didn't want to test his testosterone levels, so he says "I don't think its low testosterone I think its depression" and puts him on depression meds which by the way makes hormone levels go way down. What a good doctor!!! Right? So do doctor troxell in WR really try to find out what is wrong?

Not me! I won't see a NP again. Like you said, if you have a choice of steak or burgers for the same price, choose steak! lol
