Think about it I would bet 75%of the population is on goverment assistance. Most do not intend to do anything to improve thier situation - such as moving or accept a job that doesn't pay a really high wages despite limited skills. Most then cash in food stamps to support their smoking, drug and alcohol addiction. Look around folks this isn't the 50's - smoking is not cool, and its a sure sign of poverty and ignorance.
Pork barrel spending is prolific - Looney Tavern and the other building they restored at the cost of millions for the American tax payer. The Train Depot is another example.
Then you have the pool project a dying town with no industry votes to spend 7 millon on a swimming pool that will be funded with sales tax.

First rule of economics - dont spend more than you take in - Second rule of economics - in a free market supply and demand determine wages and the cost of goods. Set a floor such as a minimum wage that is too high you end up with a shortage of jobs. Set a subsidy that supports high prices you end up with a surplus of goods.

Do yourselves a favor - use the Goverment to educate your children to improve their situation, put down the cigarettes and educate yourselves to make yourselves more marketable. Plan for the future - not just next Friday or the first of the month for many of you.
I agree

I agree with most of what you posted, I do not agree that 75% of the population is on Government assistance.
Building the new swim park for such a small group of people who will be using it and then taxing everyone who lives in Pocahontas for its construction and endless maintenance is not going to help the economy here. Those who now shop here may opt to go elsewhere and that really hurts the merchants . Also charging an additional 1% on food does hurt those that are living on fixed incomes and those who are poor.

There's Always a Smarty in the Crowd ! There probably isn't a good reason for a Water Park ! But there Never is a Reason for small town's - IE Any where in this Country . To keep Pay Level's Low for any Business's to come here ! Especially when All things have progressively gotten more expensive each year . Also there's No Reason to advertise for (Workers ), when there really isn't any work for anyone ! Social Posting through advertisement like this are so common place , it's Embarrassing ! Opinions - Everyone has one ! Solutions No One has shouted anything constructive or helpful . Those struggling to provide a living for even a 3 member family . Will continually do so as those Business's & Loop Holes for the Wealthy & No( Equal Taxation )continues in America . I think if one looks at food stamps at a personnel level & real need ! You'd never say another word , on the matter ! Some one has to plant - harvest & Produce so you don't break a Sweat as you grocery shop & eat at a restaurant of your choosing weekly . But that's your level of substance & not of most people . Seriously get a Grip on your opinion !

how about the 1,000 illegal mexicans that will come here to flood the public health programs, the emergency room( they never pay] the over crowding of public schools and the increased violence with gangs. These won't be high paying jobs and they won't be paying much in taxes.
You will love it when they rent a house near you and 6 families move in.
Ever notice what happened in Springdale?
The whole town moved away from the main drag which is now 100% mexican and most are chicken plant workers.
