I'm getting married May 1 and was wondering where some nice places to get married are. Can be near Pocahontas too but not too far. My older cousin got married in the old courthouse years and years ago and it was decorated so nice...not sure now if they allow it. Also, does anyone have any recommendations for any florists? Thanks!

married...No, all the photographers I have found are just too expensive. I'd love to have some professional pics done though. I'm on a super tight budget. I have seen some ads on craigslist though for some photographers willing to do free weddings just so they can add to their portfolio. Something like that would work. I might call and find out monday about the courthouse. That could be decorated so beautifully, I just love that staircase. And there are rooms upstairs where I could get ready and the groom get ready without peeking lol. If we get married there we could also have our reception there.

I agree that the old courthouse is a beautiful place to get married. I have been to a couple of weddings there. They were lovely.

The only problem with the old courthouse is it has too many steps. My grandma can't handle steps. I was thinking about Old Davidsonville Park..they have big pavillions but again, not sure if that would allow us to get ready seperately.

Gingersnaps, you can get married at the Imperial Theater now, but not for sure how much it is. The days inn meeting room or whatever can make a nice wedding, small but nice if decorated right.

As far as photographers, Dana Kelly out of Ravenden Springs does awesome work. Christy fuller does some awesome pics as well. May want to contact either one of them, both do awesome work. Dana is pretty reasonable, not sure about Christy but have seen both of their work.

Have you considered outside at new courthouse...put chairs out on lawn, facing the front steps...you can walk up that sidewalk, from Broadway St. and continue up the steps to the "front porch"....it would all make for great pictures
Whatever

I know of a great photographer, and the prices are pretty reasonable. If your interested, let me know and I will get some information to you.

whatever, yes I am interested. Thanks TIS, I will check her facebook out. Professionally done pics aren't something I have to have, but it would be a nice bonus.
Thank you everyone!

I think I have picked my location....wonder why it took me long enough to think of this....Maynard Pioneer Park! I went to school at Maynard, I think the park is lovely. Plus it has the gazebo which would be perfect for us standing in to get married, and I think it has a rose trellis, and the old church would be very nice for photos. It has the stage which would work great if we get a live band.
So excite dnow..one more detail out of the way...hundreds to go! lol

If you wanted, I think the Maynard restaurant would be a great place for a reseption, if your wedding is on Sunday, you could probably reserve it after they close. Just a thought
