Tear em down all you liberals always wanting something on government dime. They have no historic relevance next thing you know you will want to restore current river beach or the Hillcrest. Place was falling down 20 years ago while your at it take down that old middle in the park an let meth heads sell for scrap. Free ride is coming to an end cause well is running dry

I know how the water park got voted in. Joe (isnt he also active on election board?), figured a way to legally GAME the system. He KNEW the water park would never pass in a regular session, so he contrived to have a special election, knowing that statistically, more supporters would be likely to vote than opponents.
While this was perfectly legal, the question remains; was it ethical? In effect, I believe the election system was played to his advantage. He NEVER wanted a fair and representative vote, which would lose, he wanted to limit the ballot in favor of a winning vote for his personal agenda.
If you want to have a real effect on the politics of this town, immediate removal of JG as city attorney is a priority.
Personally I dont believe JG can practice as an elected official with his criminal history with bar or violations. I would think he is ineligible to run for any office Or hold a office, and they let out the bull dogs to go hunt down old misdemeanors on any opponent to the Democrats in elections. They even break laws and obtain "sealed" records if you were a Youthful offender, under 18. Thats how desperate they get and have to violate state and Federal laws. Debbie Wise just turns over sealed records, She should be replaced if shes doing this for the MACHINE. They are going to follow the NSA standards and IRS standards , so new opponents, be prepared and I tell you now...dont take it, its illegal and you can sue them. TEA

many find it odd that bowers is somehow at the top of the list and may be the first to officially face a condemnation vote from the council when there are many worse buildings in this town that deserve it more.

it can be secured to legally meet the ordinance and is actively being worked on. many others are not.

apparently it will have to be deemed a nuisance by the council for condemnation. whatever their definition might be, their problem is that there are many worse nuisances in town than bowers property that have not and are not being addressed. it smells.

many can see the personal agenda at work here with the precious pool coming in nearby. to his credit - bowers is now improving his more valuable property as he wishes and is turning it into a nicer area or new business location. might even rent it out to visiting swim teams and tourists, etc. why does city have a problem with that and not all the other nuisances?

speaking of the pool area.
blocking off geneva at marr will be a major screw up and inconvenience to most of the city patrons. it needs looked at again, hard.
if closed, they need to get a turn lane on 67 at Geneva and on 67 at Marr asap before someone gets killed from the increased traffic and wrecks on 67.
Geneva carries a lot of thru traffic that will now be diverted to Marr, along with many of the patrons coming in on Decker, Dalton, and Marr that will now be forced to go around via N Marr to 67.

The tin foil hat would have looked NEAT while driving the big brown van, but David Throesch, Bowers and others are targeted by gestapo to bring others in line to comply without resistance. If you will actually think the actions ONLY "coincide" with the timetable all approved in "SECRET" mini council "meetings" so this action begins "BEFORE" the demolition of the present pool for the new 7.5 million plus pool that is supposed to "save" Pocahontas. City council should have checked into the management of PECO concerning their record of preserving historical structures instead of destroying history. PECO will most likely not pollute Pocahontas as much as the actions or non-actions of our city council. Ask TACKMASTER to explain to you and listen to the first step,"condemnation" then finally the "eminent domain".

What about the Jansen's property, the frozen food locker? Seems like if the city wants to clean up the city they would include that eyesore. This whole thing goes to show how this city operates. They can pick and choose. Seems like if they want to tear down one place, the same rules should apply for the one right next door. Oh I forgot this is how the "good ole boys operate.

The Jansen meat locker has money owed on it by Jansen still. A lot. Suppose he may try to make a dime off that as this contraversy plays along.

Hopefully individuals will exercise DUE PROCESS as this is the peoples REMEDY to resolve problems and the Due Process Clause serves two basic goals. One is to produce, through the use of fair procedures, more accurate results: to prevent the wrongful deprivation of interests. The other goal is to make people feel that the government has treated them fairly by, say, listening to their side of the story.
If a lawyer is needed, then use him or her, as sometimes the government violates State and Federal Laws as evidenced by many many lawsuits and case law. Its called negligence or abuse of power.
There is currently a Audit coming to one town I just read about regarding a Water Park and its not a normal audit but one regarding complaints about some elected officials, city council, lawyer, mayor, manager of water park, involved in mismanagement of grant money and tax money. States the water park has been losing money for 3 yrs in a row. I hope Bowers uses his lawyer for support in his matter, he has one. The people have got to start taking a stand for their Life Liberty and Property. Watch what they are doing with your money, you are financing kings and tyrants lifestyle while trying to figure out what to cut next week for a tank of gas. Elected officials drive around on your dime and then go to the doctor on your dime for mental illness and heart disease, some cosmetic surgery too. TEA

"Tim scott said it offended him to drive by the area"

before HONESTLY condemning anything as a nuisance, tim and the entire city council, code enforcer, mayor, and joe g need to all get in a van and take a slow drive down every street in town and take some notes of what they see.

there are many other problems that need addressed and many worse nuisances than bowers property.

it's bad leadership when personal agendas get in the way of doing what's right and wrong.

I just drove by the tourist court, and three men are taking pictures of the buildings and writing notes. An SUV with state tags and the Arkansas Historic Preservation decal was parked nearby as well. hmmmm. works for me

spending $250,000 to $500,000 on the depot was enough money spent on restoration here for a long while.

hope doc keeps it and turns it into a big year round full time yard sale/flea market/farmers market/mini-storage and the council and their 1000's of pool visitors have to live with it. an indoor outdoor flea market would probably draw more visitors and users year round than the pool.

Since they seem to be going after Dr. Bowers property, is the city going to go after all the property on N. Marr? It is not the best neighborhood. Is anybody safe from the city council that lives on N. Marr? Is the city planning to tear down everything on the street and build one big parking lot for their precious water park?

It is about time the city started making these slum lords clean up them old raggedy ass building around town. Not a singly one on that list has been lived in in years. You all are bitchin and moaning because they had to start somewhere. Those ole shacks of bowers are as bad as any in town. Falling down holes in the roof properties all grown up till the city said something to them. I am glad to see them going after people like bowers and throesch. Surprises me because I didn't figure they had the backbone to do that. I bet most of you complainers on topix here don't even live in the city. When you live in the city you know you have to live by certain rules. Wait till you people out in the county get a chicken house built right next to your house and you will wish there were some rules out there too.

Regarding your post #10 The Bowers offered the property to help save it for the historical property that it is but you probably were one of them who wanted the old courthouse to be another parking lot. The historical group DID NOT turn it down but are unable to manage properties. Are YOU as civic minded as the Bowers to give YOUR dead ended property to any one ? Some times one turns down monetary return to actually leave something for future generations to enjoy. You are not really the mean spirited person you were always a good person. Please use some that goodness you possess and really check into this. You might really learn something.

No they are not, because that is to far to walk to the waterpark. They want closer parking.

Joe Grider, Tim Scott, KEITH FUTRELL all should examine their lives and find out just why they think they are GOD. There is only ONE GOD and he is not present at any of the city council meetings. Maybe our City Clerk should look at herself also.
