You people all on here complaining about others receiving food stamps are a joke. First of all snap is paid for by the farm bill not tax payer money. Second thought is it's pretty darn sad that a man can spend 20 years at the same company here in pocahontas and he still doesn't make enough to buy all the groceries his family of 4 needs. He almost 30,000 a year and still qualifies for them. So you guys have no idea where the real problem is. It is in the low pay and high prices so quit whining.

Where do you think the farm bill money comes from? That is federal tax payer dollars! Do you think that is grown on trees? Or on a sandy hill in a field?

Then find a job somewhere else.

I'm not sticking up for the rich man, just stating a fact. If you are to lazy to try and better yourself it's your own fault you're living on $275.00 a week.

And probably getting paid under the table so they can get more. Not everyone abuses the system, but I know a lot.

Your a joke, no place in town will pay what he makes currently. And with gas prices it isn't worth the drive to jonesboro or memphis for the same or $1 higher per hour pay. The man makes $13 an hour here. He isn't lazy. He is an honest hard working man.

Maybe he should stop spending a significant amount of his pay on smokes ever day - most of you fools dont realize that wages and prices are a reflection of supply and demand - so you basically make what you make cause the market has determined that is what you are worth - set the minimum too high and you have a shortage of jobs/goods - set it too low and you will have an excess. Thats how it works

no sir that is not how the market works.. you make what you make according to your employers.. and according to state minimum wage... the cost of living in other places such as san francisco are yes indirectly affected by the cost of minimum wage but it also produces a better life for the people within the city and in turn allows the city to grow... the less money you make the lesss money you have to spend .. the less the restaraunt you eat at is going to make .. which causes for cut in labor and bottom line expense... we are all connected.. every one of us... supply and demand was your main point... but with less money you will have less demand simple fact... i live in a state where minimum wage will top 9.15 next year.. and guess what businesses are booming when you lower the taxes in the city or state that .. that particular business has to operate then they can take that advantage and apply it to hiring more people and compinsating them for the higher minimum wage... the city is buying close to 8,000 acers for city expansion by 2016... how much is your city growing... it isn't because your elected officials don't care about you they care about how much your paying them.

It is how if works in a free market idiot - money may drive demand but setting a minimum wage doesnt work long term - but its probably not your fault - right its somebody elses so those of us who pay taxes should help you- I could give you 100k and you would be broke again in 4 months - get an education and improve your situation

no my good sir you are poorly misguided and i actually feel sorry for your incompetense... and i do work and i do pay taxes and i do not mind helping those in need unlike you... we are all in this together ... beleive it... and i suggest you go back to school to learn how the "free market" works.. but of course you might want to get one of those federal pell grants before you go .. because i know you don't make enough living back there to pay for your college.

I have a minor in economics you ignorant hick and I paid more in taxes than you make a year - also gave 10 % to charity including feeding the homeless numerous times in the last few years - you may pay sales tax but you don't pay income tax and you obiviously do not understand supply and demand - we are not in this together 47% pay no taxes at all - do some research and get me a #4 with cheese while you are at it

The only reason you gave 10% to charity is because it's a tax right off. Which everyone knows you're lying about that.

yah and you obviously failed econ 101.... i pay no sales tax my friend .. and good for you for giving that 10% to charity that you will just write off on your taxes.. and giving out canned food to the homeless in walmart parking lot is not always feeding the homeless when they turn around and get in a brand new car.... and i didn't say i paid income tax.. but i do pay taxes and more than 47% do pay some form of tax .. so you can clearly tell you failed at whatever you went to school for.. " According to 2011 data from the Tax Policy Center, more than half of the filing units not paying income taxes are those with incomes less than $16,812 per year. Nearly a third - 29.2 percent - of those paying no income taxes are tax filers earning between $16,812 and $33,542, and 12.8 percent are those with incomes between $33,542 and $59,486. In other words, the poor are least likely to pay federal income taxes, but many middle-class families are also exempt. Smaller but significant numbers of the higher-income earners are also exempt: The same data shows that in 2011, 78,000 tax filers with incomes between $211,000 and $533,000 paid no income taxes; 24,000 households with incomes of $533,000 to $2.2 million paid no income taxes, and 3,000 tax filers with incomes above $2.2 million paid no income taxes." there's your econ 101 for you chew on it for awhle and make sure to give it time to soak in.

Your stupid and have no idea what your talking about. He doesn't smoke and doesn't drink. He works and comes home to his family like good men do. Unlike obviously yourself who jumped to the wrong conclusions.

lol wow.. what a joke.. yah i must agree with you on one thing republicans did do more for people .. they almost destroyed the whole country under bush and his senile daddy so yah they did do alot .. they took us to 2 wars with no way to pay for it... deregulated wall street.. gave tax cuts to the wealthy... sent the nation into it's first default...held in contempt the first us attorney general which also was the first black one..coincedence i think not... watched as the housing market, banks, and the auto industry collapse.. yah they sure did alot for this country... get the facts right or shut your mouth cuz nothing you say has any factual implements and please quit saying that you make more and went to school and all this stuff because you are giving the people who actually listened when they went to school a bad name.
