It seems there will be no rock n roll played at the rocknroll hwy music festival. Only this town could screw this up.

Yep. What a pile of sht. I used to play rock n roll on 4th on the black. One year they told me I could only play one song. They needed more time for the country acts. This town does make me sick. Don't get me wrong, there are some good people here, but the closed minded inbreds are in charge.

not so sure about that. have you seen the complete list of bands?
does jr play any rock and roll to suit you?
who would you $uggest? stones, who, led zep? got seating?

they're honoring a well known songwriter from this area.
and a couple of his old friends/song performers are playing.

many definitions of rock and roll.
and the roots it came from. ex. country/honky tonk turned to rock and roll along 67.

I would love to see a list. Any blues? The blues had a very big part to play in the development of rock n roll.

I wish they would get Terry Cooksey out of Jonesboro. He's a Rock and Roll God.

not sure on the lineup, if much, on friday night? and/or sat-day?
agree on the blues roots. also add southern rock and rockabilly. hope they have a little bit of everything. wouldn't mind some bluegrass and gospel also.
can we all agree - no rap, disco, or heavy metal :)

this could develop in to a nice fall festival or month for pokey.
start with a big rock and roll weekend and have county, bluegrass and gospel for a few other weekends?

could also have several months, spring and fall, of free friday and sat nite playing and picking at the parks or square ala mt view.

I sure hope it's better this year than last. Most groups that played downtown sucked. Billy Joe Royal was good but the sound system nwas terrible. Not worth the price.

Rockin' Luke Stroud, a Jerry Lee Lewis style rock'n'roll piano player and singer, is scheduled to perform at 4pm October 2 at the Rock'n'Roll Highway 67 Music Festival this year in Pocahontas, AR at the festival... "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" ---

I'd rather fart razorblades out of my butthole and pee nails than listen to that crap. Hell those "acts" are so old even my grandpa said...GEEZ, couldn't they get anyone newer? Here's a band for everyone to check out. Haven Hill. It's a couple of the guys from Further Down. There's also Fallen Within, Smog Farmer, Dark Embrace, Zach Williams and Reformation, Finding Jimmy Hoffa, Killer Operating System, There's always revenge, Always April, Burning Waco, Petalshelf...Gawd I could go on forever!

I think you young Bozos have misunderstood the whole purpose of the Rock N Roll Hghway Festival. It's not about modern rock n roll. It's about the HISTORY of rock n roll...and the EARLY PERFORMERs of rock n roll....and the celebration of Highway 67 playing a huge part in early rock n roll...with the many joints and roadhouses where the early performers played their music.
Narvel Felts is a classic example of early rock performers. I remember seeing him perform when I as a sophomore in high scool....in 1957. Be sure to hear his "High On A Mountain of Love" at the festival. Narvel, alone, is worth the admission price.
I can't see having Mickey Gilley as a headliner, though. He's pure country. I wish they could've got one or two of the old 50's Do-Wop bands.

Itsprettycool they get 2 people to this pisshole that actually show up on google. All you belly aching a-holes need only to bitch about any and everything in this town. If they resusitated Elvis and he performed, you'd be a bunch of nasty shits cause he was dead. just stay home and hit your crack pipe. you cant afford internet and the tickets....so

I worked as a DJ in Pocahontas many years ago and tried giving Narvel Felts tickets away several times. It was funny, after the 4th time of trying to give them away (by this time I upped it from 2 tickets to 10 tickets), someone called in exasperated and said....I'll take the damn tickets just because I am tired of hearing about Narvel Felts! lol True story.

Love any kind of music! I dont even care who it is Narvel Felts, Mickey Gilley and Song Writer Bill Rice. Next year on other singers that are coming to Pocahontas. Sheryl Crow, Buddy Jewell and the American Idol Contest winner, Kris Allen. This year I will enjoy great Music! I will be there with my chair! JR Rogers keep up the good work! Rock N Roll!

They probably wanted to get Mickey because he is Jerry Lee Lewis' cousin and they grew up together, etc.....:)
