even if the vote goes your way in november the only thing you'll be doing is voting out the franchise. medic one will still be gone and promed will still be able to operate in the city. the ballot is'nt to vote out promed and bring back medic one it's to repeal the franchise, which will just mean that no one ambulance service will be exclusive to the city. so i really don't understand why you think in nov that you'll be doing anything special, because even if the franchise is repealed promed will still be doing business as usual and medic one will not come back i'm sure, not after having to close up shop and leave

Hold on just a minute... Your comments are incorrect. YOU obviously did not read
the referendum petition.
The referendum petition ballot is specifically to repeal ordinance 2012-07, which only awarded an exclusive franchise to ProMed. When citizens vote to repeal that ordinance, I.e., the "franchise", it will then become illegal for ProMed to operate in Pocaontas due to the rule of ordinance 2012-04, which makes it illegal to operate WITHOUT a franchise. In effect, the vote is to reject the choice of the city council, and will "kick out" ProMed.
You should quickly call your aldermen, and ask them how the hell they allowed this to happen. Of course, you won't get a straight answer from them, so you are basically screwed.

this is what happens when you don't look at the whole picture.
writing an ordinance to stop one business, and never thinking voters of pocahontas could vote out the ordinance. what gave "them" the power over medic one COULD effect promed and their right to serve pocahontas.

who decided the wording of this ordinance?

promed will technically be kicked out if the vote is anti-franchise on 2012-07 that granted it to them. 2012-04, the original franchise ordinance, will have to be repealed before anyone can run the city or a new sole franchise will have to be granted.

if a a new ems board is not formed soon by the city council, including more professionals and some county reps, look for an initiative by the people to form one. erc and council must do what majority wants or it will be forced on them. anti council and county voters have the numbers to do it.

time for the council to step up and do the right thing, or they will be told what to do by the voters. folks are tired of the agenda, politics, treatment of medic one, and the smell coming from city hall when they play games with ambulance service for the entire county.

if a vote is made to over turn the use of a franchise then it will be without an ambulance service to run the city. A new bid will be put in place and allow another bid for the city to have an ambulance service. If its like the last bid, Promed was the only one to bid, so in return they won the bid... So what happens when a new bid is issued and NO ONE bids? After all of the crap going on in Randolph co/ city, and the disagreements that the city has with its people and business why would any ambulance service want to run up there? People need to think because they just might end up without prehospital care of any kind and a hospital that won't survive if all runs are sent to another city due to the litigations inside Randolph Co or the city.

imo, time for the county to put there foot down on the issue and stop the nonsense by the city council. 12,000 county folks ARE NOT represented by the city actions.

12,000 majority should rule over the 6,000 city. any board should have at least a 2 to 1 county majority of reps.
better yet, instead of even having the city council involved and represented, why isn't the county completely in charge. those nine jps represent the county, which includes the city. let the 2-3 city jp reps represent the city interests instead of the city council/erc.

what are our county judge and jps doing on this? sleeping! folks need to wake em up!
why don't the 12,000 have a voice on the issue?

the city would have to repeal their stupid original sole franchise ordinance and get and keep their agenda and hands out of the ambulance regulation business.

it's called competition, business, and free enterprise. it's worked for years.
some company would set up and run here. if city council hounds them again with stupid ordinances, run the county and not the city. city people and hospital will put the heat on the mayor and council to stop their studidity

"what jg tells him to do?"

jg =???? joe grider? the lawsuit magnet? who elected him king?

jps have the power and voters should tell them to step up, do their job, and represent them on this issue.
no reason the minority city council should be calling all the shots on this and playing their petty agenda politics with OUR county ambulance service.

but after the election other companies will be allowed to come in and compete for business such as AET. Government should never mess with free enterprise.

service will be legal only if the first franchise ordinance is repealed by the city council or they ask for apps and award a sole franchise, again. vote by the people will not do it, council will have to do it if vote goes against them.
look for an initiative(new law created and voted on by the people) creating a new ems board if the city ignores their wishes again. erc and council needs to use their brain and listen to the people and county on this and drop their embarrassing agenda and power playing.

short term and longterm, the people and county govt needs to get involved. 12,000 folks have no input and are being walked on by the erc and council on this issue. WE NEED a COUNTY EMS BOARD, NOT AN ERC. CALL YOUR JP AND DEMAND ONE!
please help them

does pro med have written standards to meet in their contract?
how long do they have to meet them?
anyone seen what was required/submitted?
what will it take to get them fired and new bid started or franchise ordinance repealed.

is erc following their rules or even monitoring their performance?

will erc look you in the eye at a council meeting and answer questions about pro med? mayor won't.
