I just read this week's Pocahontas Star Herald and I was wondering about an article in this week's edition. On the front page, bottom half there is an article entitled "A look back at the stories that appeared in the Pocahontas Star Herald in 2009." I noticed while looking through the stories of 2009 that while they had Linda Collins-Smith's and Jan Ziegler's annoucement for State Representative, they failed to put Keith Sloan's annoucement for State Representative in the article.

I thought that was odd, but then thought that maybe Keith Sloan had dropped out of the race and the people at the newspaper just decided not to include him because of that fact. It was then at the bottom of page 3, that I noticed an advertisement entitled "A New Beginning" and upon reading it I realized it was an advertisement from Keith Sloan about his State Rep campaign, with an email address and website and all that included in it.

My question is this, why did the Star Herald put two candidates for State Representative in the article but not the third? Espcially in the same paper where the third candidate put an ad in paper showing everyone that he is still in the running? Shouldn't the Star Herald put an article in the next week's paper apologizing for the oversight, because I would like to believe it was just a mistake, and say the Keith Sloan is still in the running for State Rep? These are just my opinions, but I would like to hear about what others think?

Ann Carroll still runs the star hearld. If its Democrat she will support it. Republican is a dirty word to her!

Be that as it may, she should still report all the news and all the people in the running for State Representative. People depend on the paper to tell them everything that is going on in this race, and other news. I personally would love to see the Star Herald interview each candidate and put the interview in the paper.

Maybe everyone should email the Star Herald at starherald@jvrhomes.com and request they put an ad in the paper about the oversight. I believe that no matter which of the candidates people support, the majority would like each candidate to receive the same treatment as all the others..

I wanna know why our paper is not available online like all the other surrounding towns. Walnut ridge is smaller than us and their paper is online.

She needs to do a bit of research about one women that is running--as a Democrat but has been putting her money on or should I say in the Republican party--wonder if Ann Carroll has looked into that? Or is Ann Carroll looking at her last name? Maybe she needs a judge in her pocket more than a Wal-Mart employee? Just wondering!

Maybe you could ask them that question if you email them. While you're at it, maybe you could ask them to print that they forgot to add Keith Sloan to the list of those running for State Representative.

I believe we should focus on the person not the party. But since you seem to believe that Democrats are always right..it's your responsibility on what's going on in Washington lately.

One thing to always remember: All politicians,*regardless of level of office*, are dirty crooks. Ethics and morality do not mix with politics.
I just decided to disagree just cuz. Dont think that statement is true. I have known some moral public office holders who were moral, and in some cases got out and moved on due to the Immorality of the Majority of Government, Just ask a few who have left voluntarily for other jobs. The People should demand that Ethics and Morality do mix with the new candidates up and coming in and that it be a Pre requisite for the Job, It can be easily determined with research. Now if they cow down later, and become so cheap they allow someone to buy them off, then We simply Fire them. Happy New Year

She reads this Forum, so think she will get it, I will add that a lot of Republicans subscribe to the Star and the rest of staff and Owner should remind her to not be biased. I hope Someone who Knows Keith demands this be addressed, or Keith himself, but I know Mr Sloan is a very nice, Moral, Ethical Person, and wont make a fuss about it himself, but his supporters should. I will ask as an Independent. The STAR really should speak to all those folks who are not happy with the D's and R's Lately, or they may loose more money.

There are a lot of people not happy with how our government is being ran. The people we elected are very happy with the system, they love gridlock, they blame the other party and vise versa. Where else can you get such a great paying job and not have to work and be allowed to blame others when nothing gets done? We must stop looking at the party and start looking at the person we elect, and after they take office hold them to their word. Lobby groups own every member of congress period!

What are WE bitching for....We can Fire them, I Plan on doing a annual evaluation on them myself, have posted and looked at most of 2009 evals, not impressive, Should we just do it. Congress is bought and payed for, but we have some opponents rising up there, Now lets get some here on our local level for the same outfit thats been here too long and Fire them. At risk of those who say I repeat stuff.....can we agree that the solution is simple and needs repeated, and can we agree where the blame lies if we continue to allow corruption and longer term limits. We the People.

i also seen this article in the star herald. it has been plain to see who the star herald is backing. we ve seen more of linda collins smith than any other canidate that is running for state rep. the star herald is not a fair paper and only reports on things that interest them.i dont know about anyone else but theY have shoved linda collins down our throats since day one. i think anita murphy is her number one fan. if she wants to support her thats fine.BUT GO TO THE POLLS AND QUIT FOCUSING ON LCS.WE ALL KNOW SHES RUNNING ,AND ALOT OF US KNOW THE REAL PERSON AND ARE NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR HER.I WANT TO SEE MORE ON JAN AND KEITH.IM BEGINNING TO WONDER IF THERE IS SOME MONEY BE PASSED UNDER THE TABLE FOR LINDA COLLINS SMITH TO BE GETTING THIS MUCH ATTENTION.JUST A THOUGHT AND MY OPINION. MAYBE YOU LINDA COLLINS SMITH SUPPORTERS NEED TO CONSIDER THIS BEFORE VOTING FOR HER.
