We are looking for some Kiowata descendants in the area to help establish a tribal orgnaization in the area. Once this is accomplished we will begin planning on the Black River Gaming center. This could be really big for the community . Per Chief Running Squirrel of the Oklahoma Kiowatas's - "The time has come to return to the land of our Fathers on the confluence of the Little and Big Black." Most community leaders and several pastors have already given their support to this initative. You will hear more in the coming months. Initial research shows that the smoke shop alone should take in a gross revenue of over 2 million per year as Pocahontas has the highest % of smokers in the U.S.

Willy Lee and his band could headline at the new casino behind the new caboose. Deland Pusser (Buford's boy) could be the head of security. This is the reason behind the new stores and construction going on downtown to handle the influx of casino customers that want to go to an indian casino in a town named for a most famous indian. There will be riverboat tours both up and down river. When casino customers taste Carrol Ann's Fudge it will be a stop on the tours of this area.

i just knew something like this was in the works - explains all the highway work on 62 and 67. to speed things up, heard they're going to just dig a ditch around price chopper and y shopping center from the river for now, and use them as temp main casino and restaurant. all you can eat pork fat, fish, fixins, and beer,$10.
look for new 30 story fools-gold-strike-hotel/condo/ retirement village/water park on the hill and points south as soon as the nursing home and brad are demolished.

This is a terrible and will be the ruin of our community

Frankly many of us are looking forward to the return of prosperity to this area and a riverboat casino with all the businesses it would bring would be welcome as well as the taxes and much needed jobs. The 30 story Fool's Gold Strike hotel/resort/casino in itself would be a tourist attraction and would draw tourists from several states. We have noticed strangers in large motorhomes parked by the bridge in the park they were probably the advance scouts. Some are saying the old air base at College City will be used to fly in gamblers from all over the world and BRTC is going to offer foreign language classes and classes to teach casino dealers for employees to communicate with customers and work the casino tables.

"confluence of the Little and Big Black"
little and big black don't conflu. little black is up at success and conflues with current river.
i think the best bet on this is tying a big gambling barge up to the doniphan bridge. boat gambling is already legal in missouri. may need to go scatter a bunch of arrowheads up there close by the bridge to stake a claim.
