Its too costly to build it through poky and cross all the sloughs Fouche River Current & black rivers. They should just get it built the fastest and most direct cheapest route. 4 lane 67 isnt supposed to be built so folks stop in poky at Burger King & McDonalds just to get something to eat. So what If Jansen is Passonate about it? I could care less. Its supposed to be so you dont have to contend with little towns and their traffic. Its should built to expedite travel From little Rock to St louis and towns like Poky are insignificant. Why should The rest of us suffer because of folks like Jansen? Why should the poky Gobs be allowed to Dictate where the road is built? Lets just git er done! and let the chips fall where they may.
From the beginning of this post where you were certain not to have been at the meeting you are the most bitter person I have ever read. Love your neighbors,What good does it good to wish bad things to happen to anyone. I have a business on that highway that had to borrow away my butt and work employees for good wage live modestly work from 6-7 ostly 6 to7 daysa week so that someday I have something to offer my children for their futures. Sir I respect your right to voice your opinions but to wish to bring good people down due to others conflicts with you is just not right and gives people no hope and sir hope is what most of us are living on. I would like to have you on my side and you could see not all of us are as bad as you think.

why must the 4 lane go through poky for your buisness to survive. If a 4 lane road is a necessity for you why not locate where its at? hoping isnt gonna change the facts. Poky and a host of other towns of similar curcumstances all across the USA are dying. Its a matter of parasites verses producers. If what you do to make money uses the earth natural resources to make build & grow something that adds to the GNP or GDP your a producer. If you get your money from a tax on a producer your a parasite. If you get your money from a goverment check you really dont pay taxes. Because the root source of your money came from money Robbed (taxed) from some producer. Too many parasites are killing the producer. The US Goverment cant rob enough to pay the parasites on the goverment dole. So they borrow 40 cents of every dollar spent. So pollyanna you just keep on being a denialist & hoping.

I am not a denialist, never in 50 years gotten a Gov. check, do not make a living off of any gov program unless you call borrowing from bank, credit card co, parents and cashing in everything in 30 years of savings to own my own businesss so if I and others who have done the same are parasites you arejust a bitter person whom I'd like to sit with on my deck andhave a cup of coffee and then at 6 go to work with me and see the people whom my business services andthe people who I employee and tell me not to work and hope for the best. I do agree with a lot of what you say but you have no courage to sit in a chair and plae judgement on all whom live here.I challenge you to walk a day in my shoes and see how hard I have to work to keep my business above water and pay employees a good wage and help other businness just like mine survive.I pay average 40% in taxes because i do not have the extra to jump thru loop holes and try to put a little back to retire cause you know ss will not be thee when I am ready to retire. I assume you are getting a deserved ss check sir I help pay that because they didnt manage properly, I could choose to take draws and not have to pay ss only in. per year but I don't.I get a check less than my eployees weekly and pay max tax.So I will not let your post take away my hope or my will to make things better. Pollyanna is a compliment thank you.Any time you want to spend a day with me i will be looking for your post so you can put your body where your words are. not sitting in a chair making comments that are only meant for others. I know you will not accept my challenge, but again I won'tlet you take my kids, and others hope away.I'm a believer.

I never stated you personally are a parasite. I outlined the problen in the whole world is Parasites versus producers. There are way too many relatively higher paid parasites and way too few relatively low pais producers. Too many parasites are killing the host. Its not my decision to determine who is a parasite or producer. If your one or the other you know wich catagory your in. The fact is the USA started to decline with the Jimmy Carter Fake fuel shortage. I have several small buisnesses that dont require me hiring any employees. I use licensed contractors. I use my cattle farm as a tax write off. the fact is most buisness located in Poky pay so little the help still qualify for food stamps. I resent my hard earned cash having to unfairly compete with food stamps at the grocery store. Im 66 years old and havent bothered to sign up for social security. not worth the bother they only let you carn $14,000 before they start penalizing you. I made more than that in one month this year. I used to put in long days but now I only work 4 to 6 hours per day. My advice to you is get out of debt hunker down. The whole world is headed toward a world wide depression that will make the 1930,s look prosporus.

tens of thousands poured into the streets of Athens as part of a nationwide strike to challenge a new round of austerity measures that are expected to cut wages, pensions and healthcare once again. Dozens of youths, some masking their faces with helmets and T-shirts, hurled Molotov cocktails and rocks at police who fired back in an effort to scatter the angry crowds around the parliament building. More than 50,000 people are believed to have participated in the mass walk-out in Athens alone. Hospital doctors, pensioners, teachers and shopkeepers were among the demonstrators that participated in over 60 rallies throughout the debt-ridden country. Even the president of Greece’s police officers participated in the trade union march in Athens alongside uniformed colleagues from the fire department and coastguard.“We don’t owe money to anyone, bring back what’s stolen,” was one of the chants that could be heard in Athens, echoing the violent resentment of many Greeks against politicians and their purported embroilment in tax evasion and corruption scandals. Evangelos Meimarakis, the Parliament Speaker and previous conservative New Democracy minister, temporarily suspended his duties earlier this week after allegations of money laundering. The Finance Ministry’s Fraud squad is investigating at least 30 politicians and public workers for possible corruption charges, including two other former conservative ministers. All three former ministers deny the accusations. Meanwhile, the government has been negotiating with its political allies and international lenders to hammer out a minimum of €11.6bn (£9.2bn) worth of cuts mainly drawn from pensions and wages. Cuts in healthcare and defence are also planned. But delays in agreeing over the exact nature of the cuts is holding up the disbursement of a critical €31.5bn (£25bn) loan instalment that will help Greece stay afloat and inject cash into the economy. Giorgos Loukas, a former electrician, said austerity measures had reduced his monthly pension from €1,100 (£875) to €750 (£600).“We’re being stripped of everything we have,” the 66-year old said. Both his wife and daughter are unemployed, and all three survive on his income.“Where is European solidarity? We’re being insulted as a nation but I will never beg at soup-kitchens for food – my dignity is all I have left.” Greece has been told to implement a succession of spending cuts and structural reforms in an effort to bring down its massive debt in exchange a bailout of nearly €200bn (£160bn). But many experts warn that the measures are only making the recession deeper. One in two youths is out of a job while thousands of educated and skilled professionals are fleeing the country in search of opportunities abroad.“I feel my country is on auction and we’re just an economic experiment,” said Dimitris Palles, 49, a physics researcher at the National Hellenic Research Foundation. Mr Palles, 49, who’s seen his annual salary drop from €24,000 (£19,000) to €19,500 (£15,500).“No level of political mismanagement can justify the pain we’re being asked to endure,” he says.–Independent

my previous cut & paste post is a textbook example of what the end result of having too many parasites and too few producers. When the tax revenue from robbing parasites isnt sufficient to fund the parasites . The goverments must borrow the shortfall. When the lender tells them you can no longer borrow they must cut back. And the parasites revolt. The USA goverment borrows 40 cents of every dollar spent. The USA credit rating has already been downgraded once and is fixing to be downgraded again. China has announced that they are no longer in the market to buy Us treasury notes. we are headed down hill at a steady speed. Its quite likely the 4 lane wount be built in my lifetime. Its even less likely that It will pass through Poky.

It's hard to say, but Pocahontas is sadly just a whistle-stop on the greater STL - LR route. It's greater than Arkansas alone, and the proposed route is more efficient. With the four-lane to Walnut, and the existing 67 to Corning, we still have decent access to the existing and future national freeway system. An E-W Corning bypass is hopefully being considered as part of this project.

Very well said, but the problem is called DEAD SPOT with that, if Batesville loses anymore companies. They would wish they had divided highways. Trucking system is a big part of having divided highways. Lose more companies and not have a good Representative would hurt Batesville. Companies that sells out and new owners look for a town that has rail running North to South and East to West as well interstate or 4 lane divided highway would help. Sure wouldn't hurt! I love Batesville a beautiful Old Town with a lot of great history. Great College!

Anyone who actually believes that a 4 lane hwy 67 running through poky will somehow magically create prosperity is a denialist. The fiscally irresponsible & corrupt local government is the Root cause of the downfall. Man am I happy I moved far away from poky and Randolph county.

Poky will NEVER grow because the system in place here forbids it! The peanut company that went into business will fail like all other places in the last few decades. As far as the four lane it was never coming through Poky, the route has already been decided and the GOB's have bought the land nearby and are just waiting to clean up.

A new 1000 job poultry processing plant, 600 plus chicken houses being built, 67 staying in Randolph county and the bypass being within sight of the city are all extremely positive developments. The city is going to be growing and booming and even your negativity won't stop it. Just leave if you don't like things around here.

If your idea of having fun is proving your stupidity and blind hatred then more power to ya. Sad that the only thing you have to do with your life is jerk other peoples chains. That is a sad and wasted life. To each their own!

There isn't any new poultry plant being built here! That is just another BS story from Scott Baltz.
Peco has NO plans at this time to build a slaughter plant until there is At least 400 new chicken houses near their new feed mill in Corning.
You don't spend 100 million on a poultry plant until you have enough production of chickens to justify making that kind of long term investment.
Don't believe me ,well all you have to do is contact those folks at Peco who haven't even yet got the new addition to the slaughter plant in Batesville running at 100% capacity.
It takes a large amount of money to build those chicken houses.
Something like 40 or in the process of being built and there will be more as time passes and the Mennonites keep moving here from Missouri.
But right now they are a long way from having the slaughter bird capacity to justify building a new plant.
Also no land has been purchased for the plant or that would be front page news for the Times Herald.
Just where did that 1000 job number come from?
If there is 600 new chicken houses built there won't be 600 new jobs since a teen age boy can handle the routine care of 5-6 houses in a day.
Probably might be 500 new jobs which include those at the slaughter plant which would be a big boost to this area.
But you can bet that other cities around NEA would be competing for the a new plant so Poky certainly does not have a lock on any of those jobs.

You are a moron. Grant Tenile told everyone at the chamber banquet there was going to be a huge announcement for Pocahontas in the next few weeks when he and the governor were gonna be back up here. You are gonna be exposed for how stupid you are very soon. They would be building this many chicken houses and a feed mill unless they were also going to build a processing plant for those birds to be shipped to. Batesville is too far away to ship from that many houses. We shall see how wrong you are very soon. Then we can thank Scott Baltz for all his help in getting this done.
